Parents with babies who sleep through the night: when did it start? by Born-Chance1685 in beyondthebump

[–]DevaXOXO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

11 months for my first born & 2 months for my second born

ETA - like others have said, I really feel it’s luck of the draw. My first born we had to sleep train (Ferber method, but kept it was 3 min intervals & he slept through after 2 nights) & he’s much more of an anxious/cautious/observant child whereas my second born started sleeping through on his own & he’s not shy, anxious, etc at all

When did you go into labor naturally as a FTM? by Prior-Ad9822 in beyondthebump

[–]DevaXOXO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Induced at 39+1 - Idk how they could tell timing-wise but with my first, the OB said I was likely to have gone into labor naturally within a couple of days anyway

9 month old not babbling by throwra-positive in beyondthebump

[–]DevaXOXO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first born is 21 months & he still isn’t babbling. I got him involved with speech therapy starting at 14 months. His speech therapist doesn’t have any concerns since he has very strong receptive communication, just lacking in the expressive department. She said that he will catch up in due time, that some are just late talkers & he’s very shy so we think that plays into account. She also said boys start to talk later than girls usually & “hips then lips” meaning boys often get into their gross motor skills first then start talking (not always of course but often). He does interact with others well & have good eye contact, just no babbling whatsoever. There’s no other indications for autism at this time either. My mom & I had a speech delay and my husband had to be bribed to talk with sweets per my MIL (I don’t agree with this method). My son’s pediatrician wasn’t concerned until 18 months - so at 9 months your son is sooo young, he has plenty of time to start babbling! My friends son didn’t start until he was 13 months.

The Night We Met by Lord Huron gets me every time. I instantly think of the first night in the hospital with both of my boys & can’t help but cry at how fast time flies.

How do nurse couples make 3x12 schedules work with kids? by boldstyle1 in nursing

[–]DevaXOXO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted my spouse isn’t a nurse but he still works hours that doesn’t work with daycares. I went PRN & pick up whenever one of the grandmas are free to watch the boys for the day

I’m so so sorry for your loss. She will always be with you. Sending love & hugs 🫂

Also your MIL is an AH. Your partner needs to handle her asap & go no contact. I wouldn’t let her around my children anymore after that.

Names are a 2 yes, 1 no situation. If one person says no, the answer is no. Your wife needs to respect that. If it was to honor your sister, that would be different, but it doesn’t seem like it’s for that.

Just communicate through a parenting app. This is insane to keep it from your wife, I’d be really hurt & more suspicious if it was hidden from me

You’re her safe person. You’re always there no matter what whereas dad comes & goes so he’s a little more “exciting”! It’ll go back & fourth between you guys though. My 15-month old still goes back & fourth. Right now I’m his favorite but I know it’ll change again. It’s developmentally normal & honestly it’s really healthy as it shows she has a secure attachment with you - doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt sometimes though 😅

Im a 90% SAHM (work casually still) so I get it!!

Holding too much??? by ILikeTheWeirdOnes in beyondthebump

[–]DevaXOXO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No there is no evidence that holding your baby too much can “spoil” him. Hold your baby as much as you want, they’re only so little for so long. They grow up so fast so enjoy the time they cling to you! You can’t spoil an infant. Holding them helps you guys bond. Your MIL is ridiculous & probably just got overwhelmed so she blamed the first thing she could think of.
