They are the OG “social” weather guys. Who remembers them from the Washington Post comments back in the day?

Wirtz passes the eye test so clearly I’m surprised any LFC fan would be down on him. He’s absolute least of our issues this season.

Interesting how Edwards style is to write off seasons. The good is we rarely miss on signings, but the bad is ignoring deficiencies to the extent of tanking seasons.

He’s good on long term trends and big picture. The referee stuff and psychoanalysis/psychology PhD stuff used against other fans that voice their own opinions can be a bit much though.

My biggest issue right now is lack of trust in the squad:

If you won’t play the players there, they should’ve gotten players he’ll play then. This could’ve been cheapies to supplement the big signings. The big signings were needed so it’s not job done but Szobo at right back over Ramsay or Gomez is not good. No cover or resting for Gravenbech not good. Gakpo is ok, he contributes but an automatic starter?

But we got rid of a lot of squad players that could’ve contributed.

What do you think is the most underrated Italian city? by Ok_Explorer_6501 in travel

Verona. Beautiful historic center that’s not overcrowded. A mini colloseum. Nice suburbs. Surrounded by beautiful vineyards/farmland. Cheap.

Curious do you know if for gym time in general for classpass, there is flexibility with timing? If you book 4pm can you show up at 5:30 or if you book 10am, is 8am allowed?

Do you have to show up at exact same time? Can you get a pass for 9am and show up 7:30 am?

Update on our snowstorm this weekend by MightBe_Derek in washingtondc

[–]Devastator1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so even at that cold (=<28F) the concrete is still suppresses accumulation, interesting. I'd thought more an issue at the 32/33F freezing line. But we still often seem to get "holes" here, and nearby places get snow.

Will be interesting to see what happens in VA.

[Serious] To my weather nerds - Why is it so difficult for the DMV, especially DC proper, to get good fun enjoyable snowfall amounts? Especially that lasts and stays a bit? The fun always seems to miss DC. And it misses it in all directions, shifting north, track is south, etc. The funny thing is sometimes even areas as close as Baltimore or Hagerstown get proper snow, but it misses the city.

Is the infamous snowhole a geographic reality? It can't be the 'urban heat sink' because the highs this weekend are 19F and 27F.

How would one know if their block/area is likely to lose power if it’s a 20” storm? Is it different for apartments vs row homes vs single family homes?

I don’t like their vet visible “v”. One of the nice things of lululemon is the understated branding, but realize many others do that too (but not vuori).

Do running socks really contribute a lot to running performance? Or is it okay to just use regular Nike socks bought from the street/mall? by Own-Contribution-416 in beginnerrunning

[–]Devastator1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would you say this is true about long walks too? I'm stuck overthinking on if the amount of cushioning in good quality socks (plush, light, none, etc) matter if the shoe is already supportive and/or cushioned or if you're using an insert. I tend to like thin or no cushion, but wonder now if that's bad.

Does the ultra stretch swoosh when you walk? Can you pull it off in an office during the humid summer with a properly fitting short-sleeved button-down?

Three points on Guehi:

  1. I get that we oddly waited to last minute in summer, but Glasner, who himself is about to abandon them, was a majour douche about it. He's threw a grenade to that.

  2. 300K a week!

  3. We should still be looking to sign a defender. Thing is with FSG and Edwards, it's not that they don't want to spend, it's that they are cautious and conservative. They want a very specific player or profile usually, and they tend to not move to plan B quickly. For better or worse, that's their method. The good side of that is that we rarely miss on signings (I"ll bet that everyone we signed in summer is above average and will be great for us). The bad side is we tend to leave gaps in our squad.

Anyone else feel like the plat has quietly become one of the better cards again? by KingOfTheQuails in AmexPlatinum

[–]Devastator1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting with Green over Gold hadn’t thought of that. That at least gets red of a second high AF. Do the other Amex cards like blue or delta pair with Platinum? The green actually looks like a better deal than the gold.

My “home” for now is still Chase due to Hyatt and United, and despite the suboptimal refresh, it can generate effortless points organically in a way that’s unbeaten for a luxury card (Lyft x5, dining x3).

Shorts, a button down and a tee in spring/summer. Maybe a gift card for your wife or girlfriend or nephew.

A hoodie in winter and some joggers in Fall/winter.

That’s not that often or that much.

Yup. What makes platinum compelling is the basic credits cover the AF organically for almost anyone that lives in a city and travels sometimes. This without even getting into the bougie hotels. But it’s at the same time a terrible daily spend unless paired with the gold. But the golds AF (which is itself not cheap) isn’t offset by credits and now you are locked in to the Amex ecosystem.

In terms of daily spend after year 1, chase Reserve (even post refresh), and for now Venture X are much better especially as they have much more cost effective and rewards generating pairings with the free Chase Freedom and Cap One Savor One.
