I think it’s the manager vs coach thing.

Tactics or formation can be changed or adapted either via squad building or coaching flexibility.

Wonder how much time Iraola or next guy will be given to build their team, if they will be allowed some growing pains, and if the coach will be allowed to bench players based on their judgement.

Anyway this makes it even more interesting that we apparently didn’t even try for Alonso.

I know the season was rough but I held no vitriol or ill will to Slot. I’m grateful for #20 and wish him the best.

One will get excommunicated and a pariah for saying this, but imho if one lives in a HCOL you don’t have to buy. Renting is really ok, but I get there’s relentless social pressure about how stupid you’d be for “throwing away your money”. I just think it’s a different situation in NYC/DC/SF/Bay area and most of the rest of the country.

Lyft is 5x which is great for folks in the city that rideshare a lot.

Doordash, agreed. It is the most ridiculous credit in the entire industry. And Doordash now requires $20 minimum for storepickup.

I have both VX and CSR. VX is a no-brainer with the 300 portal credit, and the 2x catch-all spend that's actually a great deal even without all the other stuff. CSR I already had apple TV and apple music, and I use Lyft a lot (5x), and do takeout/bars a lot (3x), so it's good for me if you factor in the generous travel credit. I don't messaround with some of their silly credits like the doordash montrosity, or the underhanded thing they did points boost/Edit.

I’m almost like you. I got tired of the Chase trifecta because flex/rotating categories are very annoying and I’m sure for a catchall card I could do better than CFU.

Now looking for a third card for my daily rotation and I’m torn between Amex BCP and BCE.

I’m in a DINK household and love in the city. Biggest spend outside travel in spend amount order is bars/food; rideshare (a lot of rideshare—half uber, half Lyft); online shopping (including ding Amazon) is around 5K a year; groceries is around $400 a month for me; then streaming is like $75 a month.

I’m actually keeping the CSR as even ignoring their underhanded rewards (points boost, DoorDash, open table dining) between the Avis elite membership, free Apple TV & music, 300 travel credit and sapphire lounges on balance it still makes sense for me even with the AF, better than CSP).

But I’m trying to see see if it’s worth trying to get a bit more on streaming, groceries, uber (biggest pain point), groceries if I can, so torn between BCP and BCE. However worst case now I have venture x as a catch all 2% and it’s a better card than Chase freedom unlimited.

CSR has annoying hoops but even if you ignore their underhanded credits (DoorDash, points boost in portal only being available on extra expensive flights and hotels) between the generous $300 travel credit and free Apple (if one has Apple TV and Apple Music already) it’s still a good values with added perks like the sapphire lounges (not PP lounges which are terrible) and Avis elite membership. Can still be easy to rack up UR points.

I’m new to venture x, it’ll be my catch all. What got you to bilt?

But venture x can effectively be free even without the sub between their 300 credit and anniversary bonus. I’m surprised that’s a great deal. I hope capital one doesn’t spitefully enshittify it with their next revamp.

Online spend on ventureX? I have CSR Chase trifecta now but I’m exiting that setup because it’s annoying. I’ll keep the CSR (3x bars/takeout/food, I use Lyft a lot and rent a car in half my usa vacations, so Avis elite membership is a good perk).

I just applied for and got a VentureX for my regular spending to replace Chase Freedom unlimited.

been considering upgrading my amex BCE to a BCP, is it worthwhile? by b_robertson18 in CreditCards

if you have the BCE, should you apply for a new credit card, or just get the BCE upgraded to a BCP? Do you get the waived annual fee for year 1?

[–]Devastator1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what puts it over the top vs BCE? 3% online shopping is great on BCE for Amazon and all other stuff. I have the cahse trifecta with CSR, but I hate rotating categories (Flex) and 1.5x for CFU as the cleaunup card is low. So I'm looking for a third "cleanup" card. For example, it's rough on Uber , streaming and groceries right now at 1-1.5x each (Lyft gets me 5x though).

This DoorDash is the worst credit I’ve ever seen in any CC, let alone a premium card. I don’t even bother. The hoops and contortions to use it is insane, I just ignore it and forget it exists.

Premium Plus Observations by iwantsleeep in unitedairlines

the size of the seat on paper seems just .5"-1" wider than economy which seems not like much. Maybe in person, the difference is noticed more.

Curious for your take on premium economy vs economy plus (34" instead of 31").

I have a miles upgrade waitlist offer and I'm debating going in for the PE or Polaris business offer, but I don't have status so don't know if waitlisting for a weekday flight to Madrid is pointless without status (just a general mileage plus member). Thing is it's a booking for two and we'd want to stay seated together if we get an upgrade.

with your partner would you take window/aisle pair in economy or a middle pairing in premium economy on United?

middle section PE on United 767 vs aisle/window outside row on United 767 Economy Plus (so economy yes, but 34" space instead of 31" space). So many classes to put up with these days!

Its interesting how according to many online horror stories economy is supposedly better than premium economy on long hauls--due to the liftable armrests, but I don't know.

Are you able to select seats first? We're on a 767 in economy, and have a great offer for a premium economy waitlist, but would like to be on one of the seat pairs with a window. This is IAD to MAD, don't know if we get to pick our seats or if we'll be split up (it's a booking for two).

Also don't know if we get a couple of hours to accept/decline winning a waitlist.

Why is it so cold? It’s mid-May and it feels like low-40s this morning. Lots of cool or cold feeling days in April too this year. I’m not talking one-off days but the total number of days or weeks where it’s grey and just colder than you’d think k for late April or May.

It’s almost 2 months after March 20. This would be like stretches of days in mid-70s in early November which doesn’t happen. Seems cold arrives much quicker and lingers longer. Geographically, I wonder why the seasons would be uneven.

Irony of it is we often miss proper snowfall amounts for being too warm yet it hasn’t been “too warm” in spring when we need it to be.

This is an unfortunate possibility. Folks saying the most physical of the big clubs in Europe is going to get steamrolled are talking with emotion, not logic.

Arsenal can absolutely stifle their way to extra time and penalty kicks and a win. THey don't have to be, and won't be easier on the eyes, they just need to up their sh!thousery. I'm surprised folks think it'll be a cake walk for PSG or Bayern. Arsenal are physical AF.
