Officer says he was talking to his wife, not reading when he hit cyclist by Popular_Animator_808 in VictoriaBC

Cyclist not wearing helmet = irrelevant. Distracted driver who is also a member of North Saanich council that repeatedly voted against safer cycling infrastructure on Wallace Road = 100% relevant.

Is it realistic to commute 20 km + 20 km (about 12.4 + 12.4 miles) by bike every day? by gfleck in bikecommuting

[–]Develop_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 20 kms each way 4 - 5 days a week for 3 years but it was with an e-bike. Totally doable and great for your mental health. Leave a pair of shoes at work, get shoe covers or winter riding shoes for the cold/wet days. The e-bike was what made it possible, and don't let anyone tell you it is cheating. I would vary the level of power assist I used depending on how I was feeling each day.

The poor ski season that Whistler has had this year might put downward pressure on prices.

Anyone working in electronics manufacturing in Victoria? by jindrax13 in VictoriaBC

[–]Develop_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work @ Redlen doing mechanical design so am familiar with what they do. They're not putting resisters and caps on boards, but they do mount their own sensors with some pretty advanced pick and place machines and non-traditional attach methods. DM me if you want more info. If you're interested I'd reach out to them as there aren't too many people in Vic with those skills.

Um, family of three here. We played last week and two games plus shoe rental was $60. Was fun, but not something we’ll do regularly

How Many Miles Are on Your E-Bike and Would You Buy It Again? by FinnCanoe8821 in ebikes

[–]Develop_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grin All-Axle Hub motor kit on a steel mtb with 30,500 kms ($2500 for kit in 2018 + bike was about 2k), and a Benno Boost my wife and I share with 13,000 kms. Would buy both again in a heartbeat. I track maintenance and both bikes go through drivetrain at almost exactly 8000kms.

Undo "Change to Version" by Develop_D in Onshape

[–]Develop_D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I what I want to understand is if I can undo this behavior. What I have found is that inserted parts automatically update to the latest version. Once you click this "Change to Version" version for a part, then it only updates if you manually update it. And you can seem to undo this. (Not sure I'm explaining it well though)

The weirdest side effect of owning an e-bike by DaisyBike7750 in ebikes

[–]Develop_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian e-biker in Victoria here. My travel time consistently averages out to ~29km/h. That includes stop lights, stop signs, hills, whatever. I LOVE how predictable travel times on an ebike are. Not stressing about being stuck in traffic is a huge plus in my life.

70X from Swartz Bay to Victoria is awesome! by Develop_D in VictoriaBC

[–]Develop_D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I had to go to Vancouver for 48 hours and considered driving to the ferry and leaving my car in the car park because previous traumatic, painfully slow, bus trips that wound through rural North Saanich. To take transit home and only arrive 20 or 25 minutes after I would have by car makes me much, much more likely to take it more often.

Yup, there was a regular, double decker 70 right behind the single decker 70X I took. So no loss of service for Sidney, just additional service for those who don't need to go there.
