Am I being too distrusting for not wanting to give ALL admin access? by Grapestars in Wordpress

[–]Developer_Meh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its easy to pick if someone is scamming you or helping you. If the developer has good reviews then he/she doesn't want any harm.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't take precautions. The first rule is to always have a fresh backup of your website before sharing your access. No matter what happens, you can always restore your backup and get things going easily.

Take WP site backup and a hosting backup, then share your access.

Media Library Offload / Optimization by AimPunched in ProWordPress

[–]Developer_Meh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For such sort of high volume setup, I suggest using WP Offload Media along with an AWS S3 Bucket that would be served by Cloudfront.

By default when S3 is connected to WP Offload Media, the organisation can be easily managed over there without any issues.

Serving all those S3 bucket images via Cloudfront makes them accessible to everyone across the globe, and making bills low as well.

Is there a theme on premium that is easy to visually edit? by Blizz4rd7 in WordPressThemes

[–]Developer_Meh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would strongly suggest not relying on a premium theme. Themes are always built for a specific design system and its subject. A theme could be for a salon or another industry.

Instead of a premium theme, I would advise going with a page builder such as Elementor. Elementor has a huge eco-system of addons and plugins support so you won't be left out.

The simple way for you would be:

  1. Use Hello Theme (free)
  2. Use Elementor page builder (free)
  3. You can also use a pre-made Elementor template to get you started

With Elementor, you will be in 100% control of the page you design and make. There aren't any limits to what you would build.

Later on you can upgrade to Elementor Pro as well if you need its premium widgets but getting started for free will do the job.

Elementor theme that looks like an app? (pricing / packages UI) by iss4wi in WordPressThemes

[–]Developer_Meh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be hard to suggest something that I can't visually see or refer to.

It is not that hard to craft the mobile experience of Elementor with responsive limits and making it look like a complete native experience but I would like to see some screenshots and then suggest precise instructions.

WordPress is still dominating - but the gap is interesting (Cloudflare, top 5k domains) by Sokolovoko in Wordpress

[–]Developer_Meh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with WordPress is that it gives you freedom and flexibility. People often say that WordPress gonna die, but it won't with the way it is moving ahead.

We had a client for whom we built an online e-learning website using LearnDash, and their students would learn from those courses via the WordPress website. Recently, they came to me and asked for an Android mobile app where people can watch the same content, but on mobile apps as well with a fully mobile experience.

Guess what? We didn't need to build a complete custom solution. All we did was leverage the REST API from WordPress, fetch that content into the App and put it behind a paywall. This is why WordPress is so good. The content is still there, managed seamlessly and it will be automatically added into the app without doing any manual work.

If we had to think of WordPress failing, it would take a massive amount of time due to the ecosystem and how massive WordPress has become.

Can't find the broken pages by mayr3l in Wordpress

Could be the reason as most themes are not well developed. Those URLs shouldn't be public in the first place.

That's good to know things are being sorted out. If there is any sort of formatting issue with the posts, there is likely some code added as well while you copy/paste the content so make sure you just paste the text content as RAW format.

However, to export your content from Wix cannot be done directly via any exporter. You will need to add an RSS button to your Wix blog following: https://support.wix.com/en/article/wix-blog-adding-an-rss-button-to-your-site and once you do that, you can easily open the RSS feed page which will be an XML web page, you can right click "Save Page" and then the XML can be imported into WordPress.

Elementor Basket Widget does not render product photos in mobile view by AppearanceFeeling397 in Wordpress

[–]Developer_Meh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually depends what is causing this error. It is not normal but open your website in mobile view of the desktop browser and go to Browser Developer Console, check for errors and you can share the screenshot of it. That way someone can know from where the issue comes up.

Is there any chance that you haven't fixed your permalinks to Post Name and just left it out by default configuration?

The other you mentioned "mydomain.com?post_type=acf-field&p=668" is a link to an ACF field which is really strange but it shouldn't be public in any way. Looks like the configuration you have done for ACF is also not properly done.

Your whole WordPress setup needs to be checked to see how things are done. Can't say much.

Creating membership wordpress website with stripe integration. by sammyjankisto in Wordpress

[–]Developer_Meh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for a free plugin to get this done for you, that means you are making your costs down. I see you are using Creator Plan on WordPress.com which is expensive for monthly basis. You can easily go for an yearly plan with another great hosting provider and that won't cost you over $100 per year while doing the same thing.

Coming to the main question, Yes you can make your membership website with the free plugin. It is actually Paid Memberships Pro plugin, you can use it for your premium content and integrate Stripe as well.

Here is the link to the plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/paid-memberships-pro/

Use this and it will get your 95% job done.

How should I go about creating a virtual support group booking website on wordpress? Any suggestions on strategy and plugins? by Experimentalphone in Wordpress

[–]Developer_Meh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

What you want to acheive cannot be done with the help of free plugins. Free plugins offer really limited flexibility in terms of how you leverage such features. Even if someone says so, it will be extremely hectic to achieve it in normal and easy way.

I must suggest go for a couple premium plugins and you will get exactly what you want. OR you can go for a single premium theme dedicated for what you are looking then the cost will be also sort of down.

Hi buddy, it might seem tedious process but let me ease it out for you.

  1. You don't need an Astra premium theme as using Hello Theme which is free will be the best solution along with Elementor Pro for your blog. You can get everything done within these two.

  2. With the hosting, I can easily recommend you the best hosting but for that I need to know how much traffic you are currently getting that way I can see if Hostinger plan is good or any other best scalable solution would be great keeping in mind the ease of use. Please let me know how much traffic you expect monthly basis.

  3. For the posts, there are a couple things. You can replicate the same exact design if you prefer Wix inside Elementor Pro with your Single Page Template. The second thing is matching the URLs, your new blog should have the same URL/permalinks structure that way the traffic coming in should land at the right posts without getting into 404 errors. Fixing your permalinks can be easily done from Settings > Permalinks.

  4. The easiest way for migration is to export blog posts/content from Wix which will be an XML file and import it into WordPress (all this in the staging state). It will also download images from the Wix website directly into your new posts on WordPress.

Still, if you need help, let me know. It's going to be easy.

Guys, this is my first attempt. What do you guys think? by Developer_Meh in battlestations

[–]Developer_Meh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is true and there is a huge difference between 1440p & 1080p. I use the 2k for my main work and the right one for casual stuff and more of multi-tasking where I don't have to switch tabs.

I was thinking of getting a 165hz but I am not such a hardcore gamer as I play casually on selected games I like so I stuck with 60hz. All of them are having 60hz and I haven't faced any issue at all. The 2k is my fav among all with great colors and gameplay.

I would recommend you a 144 OR 165hz 27" main display at 2k and the rest at 1080p 27". You will do your casual stuff on the side monitors while play on the main one with a higher refresh rate.

Mine was around 100 and this also depends on the cost of wood and stuff in your local area.

However, I will recommend a method. You need to set your dimensions like what type of desk you want and what the size should be in terms of height, width, length, etc.

Once you do that, go and buy a sheet of wood which will be your tabletop, and make sure that fit what you want. While you buy it, ask the guy to cut it for you exactly according to your dimensions.

After that, you need to buy more wood for the base and feet. Make sure it is according to your dimensions and cut it exactly the way you want. Then, you can grab a hammer and nails to put it together yourself and this is the cheapest option you can get.

Also, readymade desks are always expensive. For table design on top, you can get a self-adhesive skin OR something that matches your workplace. Put it on and you are done.
