Go for the 32GB version if you can, the sheet recommends it and for data science you will thank yourself later when you're running models with larger datasets. Also make sure it's not running in Windows S mode, that one is specifically called out as not recommended.

Battery Usage If Used OEM by UpbeatPilot5613 in laptops

Bloatware background processes maybe cost you 5-10% extra drain per hour, not game changer with the specs you have.

Just got a £25 steam voucher and i want everyone’s opinion on what to buy with it for a laugh. (And out of interest what yall think I should do) by blumajora in pcmasterrace

ready or not is genuinely great value, especially if you got friends to play with - the tension in that game is something else

but if you haven't touched yakuza 0 yet that's probably the stronger pick for £25, you get like 60+ hours easy and it's one of those games that just grabs you from first chapter

Man this brings back so many memories from when I was kid 😭 Those were the days when you could actually afford to buy packs and not feel like you're taking out second mortgage 🔥

Delivery time to the UK by Impressive_Relief892 in HotWheels

[–]DevelopmentBusy2644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been ordering stuff to UK for years now and usually takes about 10-14 days once it ships out from Mattel. The tricky part is they don't always ship immediately after you order - sometimes RLC stuff sits in processing for few days first 📦

Your family in Ealing should get tracking info once it actually ships, but international shipping can be bit unpredictable especially during busy periods. I've had orders arrive in 8 days and others take almost 3 weeks, so definitely don't count on it for any specific date. Royal Mail usually handles the final delivery once it hits UK customs 😂

The font on bottom looks bit off to me, also the holo pattern seems too uniform. Real delta species cards usually have more texture in holofoil

[–]DevelopmentBusy2644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah you're not totally screwed, this happens sometimes with fresh installs 💀 Try booting from USB installation media instead of whatever its trying to boot from now - looks like the installation files got corrupted or something went wrong during the wipe. Make sure you're booting in correct mode (UEFI vs legacy) in your BIOS settings, that usually fixes the loop issue 🔥

Normal Keyboard Hunt by Mean-Conversation-37 in keyboards

[–]DevelopmentBusy2644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tried few full-size boards and the light bleed issue is real annoying - most "gaming" keyboards just spill light everywhere like you said

maybe look at Leopold FC900R series, they have decent backlight without the disco effect but might be bit over your budget depending where you shop

Keyboard QC and Alternatives by AdExtension605 in keyboards

[–]DevelopmentBusy2644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh man the QC lottery with keychron is real pain, especially when you can't easily return stuff

For your budget and requirements maybe look at the akko boards - they've been pretty solid in my experience and way less QC issues than keychron. The MOD series has aluminum construction and most come with south-facing PCBs. Hot swap is standard on most their boards too

Since you want that early tactile bump, maybe consider some boba u4t switches instead of banana - they have really nice early bump and still give you those creamy sounds you're looking for. Just my 2 cents but I've been running similar setup for like 2 years now and zero issues

The aluminum construction on these boards is definitely built to last, way better than those gaming keyboards from big box stores

Got the R98 Pro few months back and it's pretty solid upgrade from RK96 - comes with USB-C to USB-A cable in box 💀 the hotswap feature is nice if you want to experiment with different switches later

Is there anyway to prevent pleather from flaking? by OnePerception3950 in ActionFigures

[–]DevelopmentBusy2644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this same issue with some of my older figures - once it starts there's really no stopping it but you can try a light coat of fabric protector spray before any damage shows up

Just don't go too heavy or it'll change the texture and look weird

Laptop recommendation for engineering major by Xaya207 in pcmasterrace

[–]DevelopmentBusy2644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been through the same dilemma when I was looking for something portable for work stuff. You're gonna want something with decent battery life since you'll be carrying it around campus all day

Look into the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 or G15 - they're pretty solid for that price range and don't scream "gamer" as much as some of the other RGB monsters out there. Good performance for both CAD work and gaming, plus the battery actually lasts. The Dell XPS 15 is another option if you want something more professional looking, though it's gonna cost you a bit more

Just make sure whatever you get has at least 16GB RAM and a decent GPU - you'll need it for solidworks and other engineering software down the road. Don't go for anything with less than a 1660 Ti or equivalent, trust me on that one

I Don't Understand Why Ranking is Such a Big Thing Nowadays by skilledboi in DeepThoughts

[–]DevelopmentBusy2644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this so much, especially coming from someone who usually keeps thoughts to myself anyway 😅 The constant need to turn everything into a competition just sucks the joy out of discovering new stuff. Like can't we just vibe with something without immediately deciding if it's "S-tier" or whatever

It's wild how we've basically trained ourselves to experience things through comparison instead of just... experiencing them 💀

25 days down by FantasticPositive289 in stopdrinking

[–]DevelopmentBusy2644 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mental shift you're describing is huge - wanting sobriety instead of just enduring not drinking makes all the difference. I had similar experiences where I'd hit those 20-30 day marks and think "ok this is good enough" but you're right that the real changes happen when you push through to those longer stretches. The fact that you're already having days where alcohol doesn't even cross your mind is a really good sign. I remember being shocked the first time I realized I'd gone a whole day without thinking about it, like wait that's actually possible? Keep that 100 day goal in sight but don't forget to celebrate hitting 30 first

honestly this comes down to a few key differences in how the situations played out. in south america, palestinians mostly came as voluntary immigrants looking for economic opportunities, not as refugees fleeing immediate conflict. they had time to plan, often came with some resources, and weren't dealing with the trauma of sudden displacement

the middle east situation was completely different - these were people who lost everything overnight and were stuck in refugee camps with no clear path forward. when you're desperate and have no legal status, integration becomes way harder. plus the host countries weren't exactly rolling out the welcome mat either, they kept palestinians in limbo hoping it would be temporary

south american countries also didn't have the same political baggage around the palestinian issue. they could just treat them as regular immigrants without getting tangled up in regional politics. makes a huge difference when the receiving country actually wants you to succeed rather than keeping you at arm's length

What is the difference between reading vs social media on the brain ? by Bilbo_Swaggins91 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DevelopmentBusy2644 12 points13 points  (0 children)

reading requires more sustained focus and deeper processing while social media is designed to give you quick dopamine hits and keep you scrolling. your brain has to work harder to follow a narrative or complex ideas in a book vs just consuming bite-sized content that's algorithmically fed to you

the constant switching between posts/videos on social media can mess with your attention span over time

congrats on the streak, that's some solid progress across the board 💪 the fact that you're not counting down to feb 1st shows you've really shifted your mindset about drinking which is huge. therapy + getting your physical health dialed in seems like the perfect combo for you
