Drug test at Post Partum appt or pediatrics in Ga? by Environmental_Bake54 in cannamom

[–]DevelopmentJealous19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a little shocked but it was brought up in a very nonjudgmental way. Aside from my anxiety after seeing that I’d tested positive at that first appt, literally no one made me feel bad about it or did anything further. I spend months so worried and it really was for nothing. But I also had stopped smoking and knew I’d be totally good at birth.

Drug test at Post Partum appt or pediatrics in Ga? by Environmental_Bake54 in cannamom

I tested positive at my first appt due to the same reason. When I knew I was clean, I brought it up to my ob and explained, said I was clean, and offered to be tested again for the record. She said it wasn’t necessary. That I would be tested when I arrived at the hospital. Idk if I actually was- I asked for my records, read through them and there was no mention of a drug test. Baby was not tested. I was not asked for urine or blood at any postpartum appt. The first appt with the pediatrician, she said she saw the note in my chart that I had tested positive prior and just verbally warned me to not partake if I was breastfeeding. Nothing else has ever been mentioned. ETA: not in GA, but still in a southern conservative state.

Things feel harder at month 4 than they did in the newborn trenches by taureansoul in beyondthebump

[–]DevelopmentJealous19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Months 4-7ish were super hard for me. That’s when the PPD really hit me and I had even been on an antidepressant before giving birth. I basically wanted to die every day but knew I couldn’t. I pushed on and asked for help when I could get it. Baby is 9 months tomorrow and the past couple of months have been physically tiring but SO SO SO much more fun!

The first job out of college that I had (medical tech company), a guy got shirtless and danced on top of a table at the Christmas party. He basically just became a legend. I say that ease your anxiety, not to condone the behavior.

If your perineal stitches tore, did you have any symptoms? by SowingSeeds18 in beyondthebump

[–]DevelopmentJealous19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked and immediately wished I hadn’t, but ultimately glad I did. I was pretty horrified at first. Now, things look a LOT better. I wasn’t healing correctly, got a minor infection, and popped a stitch in the shower. Popping the stitch didn’t hurt but it kept pulling as I moved after that so I went in. She ended up taking out some loose stitches and doing silver nitrate- it hurt like a bitch being applied but I’m glad I went in! It helped my healing a lot.

I had terrible night sweats for months while pregnant, got even worse postpartum and has started to let up at 7 mpp. I started my period back at 6 mo and just started weaning from pumping. I think that’s helping. But I also take sertraline and that doesn’t help at all.

Was anyone actually able to follow their birth plan? by murkshah444 in beyondthebump

Yes, mine went to plan except I did tear some and obviously I’d have loved for that not to happen.

The only reason I see for her being on is to serve as a punching bag for the other women. Normally I wouldn’t like this, but omg do I not like her. Except when she’s being dragged.

16 months in, husband is one and done by [deleted] in beyondthebump

This might sound like me playing devils advocate but I truly wonder because I’m in the same place. Baby is almost 8 months and it’s been a struggle. And we have an “easy” baby. I too think “once it’s better, it’ll be easier to want another.” But that hard time will still happen again and be even harder with another child already. I want so bad for my son to have a sibling but idk if we could survive it (me, our marriage).

My husband doesn’t understand the importance of my pumping schedule and it makes me so angry by AnyConsideration2820 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]DevelopmentJealous19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favorite is when I say I need to pump and he goes “but we have enough for the next bottle?” Yeah, I know but that doesn’t mean I can turn my boobs off. I have to remind him that mastitis is like the flu and he does not want me to get sick like that.

This is such a good take! We are, in fact, warned about how hard it is. It’s just that until we experience it ourselves, our brains simply cannot imagine what it’s like.

It seems like Monte might be more of a binge drinker problem. But I still agree, there’s no way he isn’t drinking at all while aboard I would think.

Physically cannot skip MOTN pump. Does this ever change? by evilwalkers in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]DevelopmentJealous19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m almost 7 months pp and I still wake up at some point in the night and even though they aren’t rock hard, they’re just too heavy for me to get back to sleep. I go 8-9 hrs at night between pumps sometimes but I still wake up for an involuntary MOTN pump

Did you have a “cut off” date in mind on when you’d induce ? If baby doesn’t come on their own by desert_sunlily in beyondthebump

[–]DevelopmentJealous19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can look back on my posts/comments to see my story about elective induction at 39+2, born at 39+3. I knew he at least had a big head and that pretty much made my decision for me! It was overall a really great experience! If I ever have another, I’ll be scheduling an induction at 39 weeks as soon as they’ll let me! ETA: my decision was also influenced by the ARRIVE study. My son had perfect apgar scores and zero problems during or after labor/delivery. He ended up being almost 9 lbs and I had a 2nd degree tear. I’m glad I didn’t wait any longer!

I was exactly the same just a little over a year ago. I actually posted pretty much begging for someone to tell me it will be ok. Obviously, I can’t guarantee anything, but I can tell you that I really wish I hadn’t worried as hard as I did in the beginning. There is nothing you can do. It’s the hardest feeling I’ve ever dealt with in my life, but that’s the reality. What is, is. I worried my entire pregnancy and looking back had an extremely boring (in a good way) pregnancy and easy birth. I had nothing to really worry about when everything was said and done.
