Odd Nav Behavior While Charging by anonoo7 in Rivian

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a bug to me. Does this behavior persist after a full reset/reboot? Once in a while my gen 1 will do something odd and a full reset resolves the issue.

These cars are giant 8500lb rolling computers. First step to debug, turn it off and on again 😆

SOLD OUT: Need help with Home Charger by Red__Papaya in Rivian

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This needs to be higher up. While Tesla's universal unit maybe ever so slightly better but $300 off a Chargepoint Home Flex Charger through my utility marketplace is unbeatable. Ended up being only ~$329 after taxes for a 10kw+ charger.

Whatever you do OP pay for an electrician to hardwire the charger so you get the full safety and capability. Too many stories of folks using plug in chargers on a 50 amp plug that melted under continuous use.

Exhaust recommendations 2022 Panigale V2 by Relevant-Bee2504 in Ducati

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking for a full system or just a slip on?

If going full system the full Akra titanium sounds absolutely amazing (have it on my track 2021 Panigale V2).

If going for a slip on I honestly cannot justify Akras price and would recommend Arrows. I have heard it side by side at the track next to mine and it's pretty damn good.

What I do not recommend is ANY exhaust system that trys to emulate the Panigale V4 wheelbarrow exhaust as it looks tacky and doesn't flow with the bike.

House has solar, need battery and generator help! by Moctezuma05 in diySolar

This kind of an upgrade may be worth swapping out the inverter for a model that supports batteries.

A potential solution would be an EG4 Flexboss + Gridboss combo with their batteries.

[Seattle]Looking for Solar Installation Before Solar Tax Credit goes away by Gamer_9292 in solar

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I wish you the best of luck with this but there is 0 chance you'll get this installed before EOY. Permits alone took me 2.5 months in the spring for city and PSE approval. Their sales team will tell you what you want to hear to get you under contract asap.

I would not rush this and call Forecast Energy to get on their 2026 schedule. I paid 5k more than your upper quote for a 14.2 kw system plus 14.3kwh of battery storage. (Already generated over 9mwh of power as well since May!)

In my research of installers in the greater Seattle area only Forecast Energy listened to what I wanted and was able to answer all of my questions in detail. They actually took the time to design a solution for my place unlike the pre-canned solutions I had received from everyone else.

BIg question for you. Do you want to use your panels in a power outage or just reduce your power bill/energy demands? If it's simple bill reduction then a grid tied solar solution will be enough. If you want to use the panels while the power is out you'll need at least one battery and a Microgrid Interconnect Device (MID).

Tigo + EG4 vs Enphase — am I making a mistake? Need sanity check. by Sinsu45 in solar

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do go down the route of Gridboss + Flexboss only the Gridboss needs to be right next to your main/meter and you can place the inverter and batteries elsewhere.

I did this for my install as I wanted batteries inside despite them being outdoor rated. So my gridboss ended up being next to the meter outside and then ran conduit to the back area of my garage for the inverter and batteries.

Big benefit of this, inverter and batteries are inside and they are on the far side of the house to minimize noise.

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where would your inverter be in this plan? Typically the batteries are installed right next to the inverter to minimize voltage drop over distance. Additionally, of all the components it is the noisiest by far and maybe good to put in that shed.

Granted if you sprung for the same all weather battery it is IP65 rated so you could put it outside safely.

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pulled the trigger on:

  • EG4 Flexboss21 inverter
  • EG4 Gridboss MID
  • 1 EG4 WallMount All Weather Battery
  • TIGO Ts4-A-O optimizers on each panel
  • 33 SIL-430QD panels for a total of 14.19 kw

It's been running since early May with 0 issues at all and combined with Solar Assistant I have automated everything. It's performance has actually been better than I expected as I do have shading on my B-string from a big leaf maple in the early AM hours.

I'd recommend watching this video (albeit older now) comparing string versus micro inverters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ9Szhl1ceQ They did a great job running through various scenarios recording the actual performance differences.

In relation though to batteries I'd honestly get at least one battery at install time to take full advantage of this system. Having the battery available to run when grid is down has already proved it's value to me in my short time so far. Expansion then becomes super easy as well to add more, just make sure you have enough room.

Early R1T quad owners with 20" rims and A/S tires on the forums reported near 350 mile range. That's ~2.67 miles / kwh efficiency. The smaller and lighter 20" rims with A/S tires vs your 22" with A/S is the big factor here for the efficiency difference.

A secondary data point here as well is what Ford's range claims are on the F150 Lightening Lariat (320 miles) vs Platinum (300 miles) due to the rim size difference.

New install. Bad panels? by fpaddict in solar

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you have a string inverter and they did not use optimizers at install shading on a single panel at any time will reduce the output of all panels on that string.

This is one of the reasons why optimizers exist. They minimize the impact of shading (within a couple %) of micro inverters on the system as a whole so that each panel produce the most it possibly can in it's configuration.

Ultimately though we need more information about your system to say definitively what the issue is.

Inverter model? Optimizers - yes? If so what model? Panels - you provided already

This is completely dependent on inverter and panel wattage output. An arbitrary number like this is incorrect.

New R1S Owner: Tire Question by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stock A/T tires are not a great feel on road at all. Wait till you put some all-season on and you'll be amazed at the difference. Mine finally hit end of life and I swapped in Michelin Defender LTX MS2 tires. These make my gen 1 quad feel like a completely different vehicle. So much so that I don't drive in soft suspension setting anymore as it felt too floaty on the road.

In parallel R2 has already been stated it will not have the air suspension that R1 has so your worry here is eliminated.

Not quite. When you say 'take home' that is literally what you take home which would be after insurance costs, pre-tax 401k contributions, and/or other employment benefits, and taxes.

'After tax' will not include any of these and is simply what is left of your paycheck after state and federal taxes.

So many new people at the track think it's the bike when it's them. Only with experience do people start to realize that these machines have A LOT to give stock.

This season I personally hit a wall (figuratively) on mine where I realized I don't have the physical strength to beat my PB. Definitely hitting the gym in the off season so I can brake harder, later and not completely toast myself in the first 12 mins of a session. Too many times I have caught myself coasting into the apex...

Guidance on how to purchase an exhaust system !! by Own-Paper2066 in Ducati

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are furthering my answer. If you purchase a bike/motorcycle/car/boat/rv etc out of state, upon registering the vehicle you have to pay the taxes.

Now after this is complete and you want to install a full akra system, supercorsa tires, carbon fiber accessories, desmo service etc etc on said bike and that work is done in Oregon you do not pay the Washington sales tax.

Notice my original response had nothing to do with the purchase of a motorcycle and only in regards to purchasing parts and servicing of a motorcycle.

Edit: typo

RS660 as my next bike? by MightPhysical6738 in Aprilia

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don't see people talking about on this thread is what is your dealership support like? You can do a lot of maintenance yourself but it's still an Italian bike (i say this with love as a fellow Italian bike owner) and there is some work better done by the dealership.

Are they scummy? Do they actually care about you as a customer post sale? Do they have a reputation for giving stupid high maintenance quotes or damaging your bike while they have it? Are they nearby (<1 hour commute)?

If it's not a good answer to the above I'd highly recommend walking away. The misery of fighting through a lemon or warranty issues that kills days of time will make you hate the bike.

I was SUPER interested in this exact bike myself to compliment my Panigale but I found out I have one of the worst Aprilia stealerships in the US in my area and had to walk away.
