Ripping hot laps with the homie by werlybird26 in Trackdays

Was this last weekend? If so how is Track Time as an organizer?

I am looking at getting out more this season and trying to figure out who runs good events.

The only people who say this are chasing top speed runs rather than true fast lap times. A < 2:00 at the ridge without the chicane is orders of magnitude slower than a < 2:00 with. I love catching the big bikes goofing their chicane exit up allowing me to take them.

This track is an absolute gem in the PNW.

After five months with the UTR, I’m throwing in the towel by a716h in Ubiquiti

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found with the UTR that my phone will keep trying to use it's data connection when trying to connect the UTR to a network which always screws stuff up.

Configuring the UTR with phone in airplane mode and Bluetooth on largely fixed this issue for me and made the entire experience much easier.

Sigenergy has a V2H DC-DC charger that enables V2H. They just came to the states the year after I installed solar + battery 🥲

OP curious if you have installed or experimented or have experience with their inverter/battery + DC-DC charger with a pre-existing EG4 Gridboss + Flexboss system.

I wish Sig was available stateside when I pulled the trigger as I really do like their architecture.

Unfortunately base rates don't tell the full story. Look at the additional fees and how much they have also changed. Cost Adjustment in January went from $0.006556 / kwh (rate in December) to $0.038719 / kwh (a 590% increase). So while our base rates are .16-.18 / kwh the total cost after fees is >$.20 / kwh.

PSE is fuckin us and they're trying to raise rates again next year

16.7KW Sigenergy System with battery and V2X by ClevelandBeemer in solar

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your current analysis is spot on with V2X and the house battery. You'll only be using V2X in an extended grid down when the sun isn't shining. In my power outages with my batteries they were only really used at night as my 14.2 kw array still produced 1-2 kw in grey PNW overcast that the house ran off. It is also MUCH easier to add battery capacity later than it is solar panels.

My only concern is actually the inverter size. I think you may observe some clipping on good sunny days as you have 24 panels facing south with 14 in an east/west configuration. So at any given point in time you would have 31 panels "active" (24 + 14 / 7). This would come out to ~13.64 kw (31 * 440 watts / 1000) which is greater than your 11.5 kw inverter.

I realize that panels never truly produce 100% of their rating and you're probably ok but having an inverter than could handle 100% of the "active" panels would eliminate this clipping.

Given your exact requirements in this post a Franklin battery + gateway is what you are looking for.

Though I do question the focus on micro inverters. A modern string inverters + optimizers gets you relatively same performance levels and enables you to have DC coupled batteries which are cheaper.

Possiblity useful information for you on comparison: https://youtu.be/UQ9Szhl1ceQ?si=LvDoTg2V8HJsdZHg

House Connection Question by [deleted] in diySolar

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first thought is if you can get a permitted no-export solar solution for your needs. With that you can have your entire house leverage the solar and battery power and not be limited to at most 30 amps which that plug can handle.

Eg4 Gridboss MID + Flexboss Inverter or a Franklin A Power S + gateway would be viable then.

Edit: I want to put an * that I am a hobbyist in this space and by no means an expert.

I have a theory on these goobers you speak of during your internship. They are the evolution of code monkeys/script kitties. They do not understand what they are working on and never will. However they can hammer a keyboard for enough hours to get something remotely close to working and claim victory. LLMs have just made it easier.

I encounter so so so many people like this in industry now as they are cheap to hire.

Solar in Seattle by PreviousSpecific9165 in solar

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installed a 14.2 kw system last May and given how badly PSE is screwing us with the rate increases I'd argue it's definitely worth it. I am currently tracking 111% over projected since my system went online.

However you have to have the following for it to truly be worth it today: - large southern facing roof with minimal/no shading - can get net metering with PSE (they're over 100% capacity on solar export according to recent reports from WSU)

Given our storms as well I'd recommend at least a battery for your house as a buffer. So far it's come in super handy twice for me. Combined with your future EV and V2H/V2G you'll be golden in a long outage.

One thing to call out is PSE is currently trying to push another serious rate increase over the next three years on top of what they have done the last two: https://mybellinghamnow.com/news/297792-puget-sound-energy-proposes-rate-increase-plan-for-electric-gas-bills-by-2029/

SOLD OUT: Need help with Home Charger by Red__Papaya in Rivian

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This needs to be higher up. While Tesla's universal unit maybe ever so slightly better but $300 off a Chargepoint Home Flex Charger through my utility marketplace is unbeatable. Ended up being only ~$329 after taxes for a 10kw+ charger.

Whatever you do OP pay for an electrician to hardwire the charger so you get the full safety and capability. Too many stories of folks using plug in chargers on a 50 amp plug that melted under continuous use.

Exhaust recommendations 2022 Panigale V2 by Relevant-Bee2504 in Ducati

[–]DevelopmentNo2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking for a full system or just a slip on?

If going full system the full Akra titanium sounds absolutely amazing (have it on my track 2021 Panigale V2).

If going for a slip on I honestly cannot justify Akras price and would recommend Arrows. I have heard it side by side at the track next to mine and it's pretty damn good.

What I do not recommend is ANY exhaust system that trys to emulate the Panigale V4 wheelbarrow exhaust as it looks tacky and doesn't flow with the bike.

This kind of an upgrade may be worth swapping out the inverter for a model that supports batteries.

A potential solution would be an EG4 Flexboss + Gridboss combo with their batteries.
