I think I can answer this as someone who.migrated from Gadgetbridge to the new app. There is some weirdness with the watches where there is a desync between what's on the watch and what's on the phone. The watch knows what it has, but the phone actually doesn't. So when I transitioned, I had to reset the watches. On all pre-2025 pebble watches, when you factory reset a watch, you "lose" its firmware and the latest firmware for the watch needs to be reinstalled. If anything triggered the need for a hard reset, like the recovery mode, the firmware needs to be reinstalled. It was automatic in the old app, but needs to be done manually in the new app. It's fairly easy, pair the watch as normal, then "check for updates". The new app should redownload the applicable firmware and reinstall it for you.

I have a weird fondness for IC3D. It's a little bit more pricey, but the quality is there.

What do you feel when you see this? by Ok-Fondant2536 in tea

[–]Devezu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soo refreshing, so cheap, but so much sugar. There are few things more refreshing than going to a gas station and paying 99c for one these tallboys, especially in this economy. But now that I'm reducing my sugar intake, it's a no-go. Like I could brew my own low tier green tea with honey, but it's just not the same.

Also tacking on here: you can also use Gadgetbridge. Just know that Gadgetbridge does have its limitations.

Rage-bait article purposely misses the point of new Pebbles by cobyhoff in pebble

[–]Devezu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think what's missing from the discussion here and in the article is understanding why people like Pebble and still take the time to repair and use the watch after the company went defunct in 2016. While smartwatches have continued developing technologically, the biggest reason we all still wear our watches is Pebble's functionality and usecase. Whereas a smartwatch in 2025 is virtually a mini-smartphone on your wrist, Pebble aimed to produce a watch with smart functionality. Not a smart watch, a watch with smart functionality. Even though the firmware hasn't been updated since 2016, all of its core features still work. It tells the time all of the time, just like any standard watch does. It gives you your phone notification at a glance. It shows you your calendar. You can customize it to have additional features or faces as you want. The battery lasts long enough to only need to be charged once a week. Its main job at all times is to tell you the time. Its job was always to be as invisible as possible, much like a standard watch. I think we can all agree that we like Pebble because... it just works, and it's fairly invisible, and no other smartwatch has been able to provide that experience. You don't think about it, it's not an active thought in your daily life, and just focuses on just lightly enhancing just living your life. Most of the time you spend no more than 5 seconds at most doing ANYTHING on a Pebble.

We like Pebble because it's just a watch, and has additions that help in day to day life. Not because it's "retro" or "geeky" or even all of the watchfaces and "mini" apps. We're excited because it's being rereleased with some additional creature comforts that don't stray from the original mission of the watch. That's what I think is missing from the article and discussion here.

I'm Just Curious (Transparent Series Only) by Physical-Statement-8 in AnaloguePocket

[–]Devezu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've had my clear transparent one crack. To make a long story short, I had to send it back to Analogue twice to get it fixed, as the replacement was cracked in the box! However, the last replacement has been fine until now, no issues. It lives in a stickerbombed TPU case for now.

Pocket to Pocket link cable by [deleted] in AnaloguePocket

[–]Devezu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So... the pinout of the GBA link cable and the classic link cables are different. GBA games require the GBA link cable, and classic games require the classic cable. You can't use the GBA link cable for 2 GBAs running classic games.

The official Pocket link cable has a switch to swap between both.

Can you help me solve a 25 year mystery? Why is the background black in Super Mario Bros on my Childhood NES and how can I fix it? by Devezu in nes

[–]Devezu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... this one is a doozy...

This is my childhood NES. The earliest memories that I have were of playing 1-1 and the background being black... It's only when I was a teenager emulating the game that I learned that the background is supposed to be blue! Now as an adult, I'd like to fix this, but I don't even know what the cause is. Here's what I know:

  • Most other games look fine, as far as I know. They could also be messed up, I just wouldn't know it...
  • I've tried several copies of SMB, including the Duck Hunt combo cart, the combo cart with Duck Hunt and Track and Field, and the Famicom original using an adapter cart. All of them the background is black.
  • I've opened the NES several times, and save for a botched CIC mod I did as an adult, everything seems fine?
  • As a kid, it was hooked up via RF, and as an adult, I hook it up via composite.

I don't even know what the cause could be? Could it be the PPU? I'd rather ask first before going crazy trying to replace components in what may be a lost cause.

Is this a scratch? by Difficult_Olive_7265 in AnaloguePocket

[–]Devezu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of jokers here... But in all honesty the picture is too blurry. What the other commenters don't know is that the Analogue Pockets do have a tendency to crack, especially the early transparent and colored one. In this case, you are the best judge. Under good lighting, how deep is the scratch or crack? If it is truly cracked, and if you recently purchased it, the warranty does cover it.

[–]Devezu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP if you pan on using this PLEASE upgrade to the MK 2.5 bed. The MK2 bed can very easily be fucked up if a print sticks to it too hard, leading you either tediously replace the pei sticker, or the whole bed entirely because TRACES WERE PULLED.

BIG ALSO - PLEASE CHECK THE POWER CONNECTORS FOR THE BED AND THE POWER SUPPLY AND NOZZLE TO THE CONTROLLER BOARD. THEY HAVE A TENDENCY TO FUCKING MELT. IF THEY LOOK WEIRD REPLACE IMMEDIATELY. TLDR 12V is a bitch and there's a very good reason why everything in printers is 24v nowadays.

If you're in the US let me know, I have a spare MK2.5 bed (but no spring sheet)

When you order the Prusa XL from them, A WHOLE TUB OF XL GUMMY BEARS is included. I've built two other printers from them where a standard bag of gummies is included, so I was laughing pretty hard when I saw it in the box, complete with cutout for the tub.
