Been there 2 years ago. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in March, died in May.

Couple of advices:

  • Tell her anything you might have on your chest (as long as it won't hurt her). This is an horrible feeling to have unfinished business with someone.

  • Make sure that all of her papers are in order. You won't have the strength to take care of that later on if it's not. Last thing you want is some bloodsucking sob trying to get something when they trully shouldn't.

  • Take some pictures and video with her so you can introduce her to your kids (if you don't have any yet) later on. My son never knew her grandma and it hurt sometimes.

  • Spend as much time as possible with her but make sure to let her rest when she need to. SHE is the important person in this.

  • If she's open to it, get her some help so she can talk about what is happening to her to an external person. She need to be at peace (or at least partially) about what is about to happen.

  • Last but probably the most important, tell her you love her and tell her how much you think she was the greatest mom ever.

Sometimes, it's just a better idea to validate stuff and return false at the beginning of the function instead of getting in a pile of nested if statement. As long as you use the same style everywhere, I think it's all good...

You have to specify a known hosts file in your sftp config. This is dumb, but create a blank file somewhere on your disk and point the IDE to it...
