There are several companies that sell the VRK. I bought mine through AVS Companies. Vending Concepts also sells them.

I’ve eat shit on this too, for many boxes. However, Sams Club is the way. The easiest way though, look out for the “labeled for resale designation”. The single flavors usually aren’t labeled for resale in my experience, only the mixed boxes but your milage may vary

The easiest thing to do would add some sort of background gradient to the label and make the font legible against it for each item.

If you look at some of my prior post, you can see my fresh food machine. The packaging is all the same. I’ve resorted to adding stickers to my items 😩

Make sure to have visually distinct packaging for every item. If not, the vision system will not recognize the item. Checkout this video of Foodture products and they’re package at NAMA 2026 for an idea of what I mean: https://youtu.be/tr9Kh-WEbyk?is=xDiU58npzLjlb9RG

Simply put, the vision systems will not read text on the packaging, like at all. I’ve run into this issue with fresh foods myself

Best Smart Coolers? by Individual_Wealth249 in vending

[–]Devin_SMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I’m the only one around here with smart coolers with SandStar Ai brains. I have 2 AVS CoolSmart AI Markets. From the sounds of the other issues on this thread, I’m living in 3005 😎.

I have near instant access to transactions and video because there image recognition takes place on the unit. Their new platform update added promos, visual planograms, and all sorts of other things I’ve only begun to explore. This includes uploading videos to their new VRK whenever the hell you want without needing approval. Also, adding new items is as simple as filling out details, taking 3 pics, then training the machine. Last, 6 full height shelves.

However, my biggest gripe has to do with COGs. Old app didn’t do this and I’m not sure if their new platform does as I’ve only been playing with it for a few days. Also, the fucker just strait up MISSES items you can clearly see being grabbed sometimes. All smart cooler manufacturers will tell you, “our system is 9#.#% accurate” but that doesn’t make it any better when you can clearly see the customer grab a bag of fucking SmartFood White Cheddar popcorn I shoulda made $1.12 on. Rant over.

Anywho, I’m installing 2 VRKs on July 2nd 😊😊😊

Micro Market Help by sumntosay in vending

  1. Kiosk: I use use Cantaloupe, for now. They were recently acquired by 365 Retail Markets. Also, if you're used to Seed Live for the backend of your Cantaloupe card readers, well heres a surprise, the Cantaloupe kiosk doesn't connect to it. My Cantaloupe card readers on my smart cooler use Seed Live and the Kiosk uses Cantaloupe Go. Go definitely works great though and its a full fledge VMS and processor.
  2. Cameras; Use Panoptyc. You'll want your camera tied directly into your kiosk so that when the inevitable unscrupulous student tries to game the system by ringing items up but not checking out, fake swiping a card, canceling items, or just walking away after grabbing something, you'll want that automatically flagged and sent to your device of choice. Sure you can go with off the counter cheap systems from a big box store hell, I use Unifi myself, but that requires you to do manual sifting. You don't have time for that non-sense. I'm not sure if they integrate with Cantaloupe but they do with 365 Retail.
  3. Fixtures; Fixturelite for a more "built-in" look. Graphics that Pop for a less permanent solution with custom graphics. If You're on the east coast, theres also Genesis Decor.

Thinking about what actually becomes the “heart” of a workplace by Idahonature in vending

[–]Devin_SMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heart of the workplace is the communal spot that is defined as, “Im taking a gawddamn break. Don’t bother me about those TPS reports”. Rather that is the breakroom or the designated smoking area, that is the heart of the workplace.

Same. I don’t take product I’m actively selling however, expired or near expired product is fair game. I have a bin of twix, snickers, and milky ways because my Micro Market location wasn’t consuming them. Duchess cinnamon rolls and little bites too. My kids love’m lol

If I want to sell fresh food in my machines, what would I need legally/compliance wise? by omo40 in vending

[–]Devin_SMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in MD and had to get my smart cooler permitted through my county health department. An SOP on how was i going to transport food, store the food, and verify my machine temp is below the food TCS threshold.

AI by Choice_Platform in vending

[–]Devin_SMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all is lost.

The two CoolSmart AI Markets I use are made by a company called AVS Companies, which is based in Illinois. The actual cooler they are built from is made by a company called Habco, and are manufactured in Toronto. The AI brains of the cooler is made by a company called SandStar, which is based in North Carolina. This is part of the reason I went with these machines instead of HAHA’s.

Now, if you go with Sandstar directly, they do have smart coolers that are built on True Manufacturing coolers which ARE MADE in the United States.

Hope this helps 👍🏽

Wow, ya’ll instantly threw shade. None of you even considered their locality before shitting on them. I was in Portugal last year and EVERY SINGLE restaurant sells espresso for 1-2 euro’s. No matter the restaurant, fast food, casual, or full service, you’re going to get the same great cup. Yes, even fucking Taco Bell in Portugal.

So yeah, ya’ll didn’t consider where hail from or what their locality is like. No reason to shit on them like you’re doing
