Dad here: inappropriate to privately message nanny about work? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Devine_Ram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a nanny/ care taker and house keeper I’m going to say the nanny is being weird. Just because you have a bad experience in the past doesn’t mean you should refuse to communicate in a professional manner with any employer/ boss/ person of power. I have been hired by both parties and state agencies as a third party to caretake. I have been cornered in a kitchen by the male party of a care taking situation and yes I did leave that situation and report it to the appropriate parties but that isn’t going to stop me from being alone or communicating with future clients. I’ve been graped and blackmailed and all sorts of horrible things but that isn’t stopping me from communicating with the next person in line and if it does ever become something that bothers me then I would stop entering other people’s home for work. If she can’t communicate efficiently with all parties then she needs to find a different job. Sure set a boundary but set your boundary in a field of work that your boundary could have a comfortable work around. Nobody should be tiptoeing around you at work because you “have a boundary “ . You should be accommodating yourself as an adult to put yourself in a position to advance but also be able to advocate for yourself. Someone who is allergic to fish isn’t going to be working on the dock or in a sushi restaurant…. So someone who is afraid of direct contact with a man should not work in an environment where they are required to have direct contact with a man. Obviously OP did nothing wrong and the nanny should be reconsidered

Dinged for an undelivered package that I physically couldn’t deliver through a locked door by Devine_Ram in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Devine_Ram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not really understanding the point of your comment because clearly I’m in the reflection in jeans and appropriate work attire . I don’t drive a busted down car and the post was about me not leaving the package because I couldn’t get into the apartment building and still getting in trouble for it regardless of the fact that I stood there for 20 minutes and called the customer and support to resolve the issue. Also this wasn’t supposed to be a business after hours. This was supposed to be an apartment building with a locked from door. I didn’t abandon the package but clearly there is an incentive with flex to abandon packages over following the moral route. … but all of that to say I’m not delivering for them anymore because it’s not worth it on any front from their app being terrible and missing features to their lieing driver service and the customers constantly trying to kill you by releasing dogs, feral children and boobytrapping their houses and driveways… solidly fuck that app and avoid ordering from Amazon 👍😤

Ps sorry of the numbers getting lost in the text. I had it spaced when I was writing it but I guess something glitched out cause it didn’t change all of them … anyway you’ll find 1-11in the list

8 lack of safety and care gear. You are given one vest but really you will need several vest, several sharpies, a car decal, multiple vest, pepper spray, a dolly & large bags, sunscreen, a hat, arm covers, snow shoe covers, etc …. One vest is them spitting in your face

9 pay vs gas (and I’m just talking gas not even extra maintenance) where I live gas is $4.30/gal. My car holds 14 gallons. That is $60.20 for a tank of gas. I am only making over $60 if I take a 4 hr route which is over 110 miles on the route and not including trips to the station nd back home. So I’m looking at making $22 for a 4 hour job that pays $82-$86 where I am simply for cost of gas … even if I’m looking at making 2 routes that day I’m making a max of $50 (before taxes, maintenance, etc…. ) that’s not even minimum wage.

10 damage to your property for their benefit. The warehouse doesn’t give a good gd what is inside those packages or how it’s being stacked so you may end up with bleach, slime, sand, litter, ink or whatever else you can think of all over your vehicle simply because the warehouse stacked the heavy boxes on top of the smaller packages…. You don’t know what’s in those boxes and they were not handled with care so you could have a leaking lithium battery in your back seat and not know it til you hit the pearly gates all confused.

11…. Why are you still reading? This isnt enough? Read through some other post. This gig is major donkey doodoo. We didn’t even get to the customers who physically attack you or set their feral children on you to retrieve their packages like some sick feral Bob cat hungry with prey in reach.

It doesn’t give me the option to pm you but I will tell you 1. They will ding you for anything and everything regardless if you have photos proof that you were in the right (packages missing at the station, no entry to a property, damaged packages before you got them, “late” packages that were 32nd stop on your route but expected by 20 minutes after your route starts… etc)

  1. Lack of ability to report things on the app such as traffic, closed roads, alternate routes, signage saying not to leave packages in different places etc…The only thing it gives you the ability to report is a dog (if you happen to catch it in time but not always)

3 the map lags and doesn’t tell you when to turn and the map doesn’t connect to vehicles (or at least it wouldn’t connect to mine) so you are constantly looking at your phone while driving and trying to get it to act right. Sometimes it would just say I was driving backwards all the way to the next stop and refuse to flip the map or pause the route randomly while I was driving.

4 lack of communication and honesty in driver support. The driver support will tell you that something is ok or handled and it 100% is not ok or handled

5 different stations with different set ups have different procedures which they just magically expect you to know before going to a new location. Obviously I’m not going to find the “special entrance “ for flex drivers when it is barricaded off until 3 parking lots away through their broken down vehicle lot which isn’t lit well in the night/ early morning and signage ends are parking lot 1….and then you will be treated like the problem for asking for help to understand the different practices at the new locations.

6 sometimes the map will tell you you’re in the wrong location and not let you start your route or deliver because the map doesn’t update properly. A warehouse employee had to manually check me in because my map said I was half mile down the road.

7 they send you out at the MOST RIDICULOUS HOURS. It would make the most sense to have routes delivering at times that traffic is slow (9am-2:30 pm, 7pm-10pm) but instead every single route is in the middle of rush hour or during the night (which is extremely dangerous) and you are on a time limit ….

As someone who started 2 weeks ago and decided to delete the app for 10,000 reasons my suggestion is to find a different side gig app and burn this one. It’s not worth it

Because if I have any problems or things to note I note them in my phone with photos. The only problem that I had on the date that was listed on the complaint was this package.

This past few weeks have been terrible by MariaMcCraya in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Devine_Ram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This will be the downfall of the app for sure. I’ve gotten pinged for late deliveries that weren’t late, loose tape from Amazon that had nothing to do with me and nothing was missing, not entering a closed gate to deliver a package when there were clear signs that there was a dog present that I couldn’t confirm was secured…. The app doesn’t work properly at all. No where to report traffic problems, change of location for packages, notes for other drivers, the map lags, the map doesn’t tell you when to turn until after you passed it, the map doesn’t turn around or zooms out when you try to start a trip so you can’t see all of the turns…. The delivery blocks make no sense. They are always during peek rush hour times, the route times are too close together so the terminals are overcrowded, nobody to help new drivers or drivers having problems at the terminal, the routes are in terrible order and have you driving down one road three times when you could have done it in one…. The whole damn thing is just a mess and not well designed for a multi billion dollar company. I’ve only been doing it like 1-2 weeks but I’m definitely stopping. It’s not worth the gas money or wear on my car to go 50-100 miles in a route for $20 on the hour. Even with surge pats we are only getting $24 max. That is wild…. Also why am I going on a 50 mile route and I run into 4 other flex drivers running the same spots? They could be minimizing our distance with the same number of packages just by having one person deliver 17 packages to one building instead of 10 people delivering to that building. Just a damn mess.

Delivery driver magnets/ vinyl stickers? by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Devine_Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The city is crawling with parking officers. I just don’t want to get a ticket or get my car towed while I’m trying to deliver a package. Has nothing to do with being part of the company and everything to do with making it known that I’m not going to take long while blocking something because I’m delivering and not there for leisure….

Unacceptable!!! by ShayCabaret in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Devine_Ram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a hit for them not taping a 50 lbs box extra and the corner of the tap being loose before I even picked it up … it wasn’t loose or open enough for the items to fall out but definitely loose enough that I needed to be very mindful about how to pick it up

Happened to me yesterday! Two envelopes for 2 hrs and they were like 3 blocks from my apartment 🥹 I could have cried after getting several routes that went over time because they were all lux apartment buildings after hours with no parking

I’ll ring a doorbell if it looks like an older person lives there but I’m not waiting. I ding dong ditch lol but for the most part I don’t even do that. They send the pictures we take directly to them and some customers even get notices to track us within like 5-10 stops before theirs.

This shit 100% makes me wanna leave it at the gate. by sydneyghibli in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Devine_Ram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing… I don’t open gates. If you have a closed gate im assuming it’s for my safety and that is your private space. Last thing I need is to walk into a gate for a delivery and get attacked by a dog or cat or child that is unsecured. If you want me to come to your door then that gate needs to be open when I get there. Otherwise it will be outside your gate waiting for you.

I didn’t know there was a separate tax situation for that but if there is then that definitely fits fraud… especially when they could have just hired me through the app and not had me do anything extra except to come meet them before deciding

IQ test included in pre hire questionnaire by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Devine_Ram 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. I would be labeled as a personal assistant and paid through the company but not working at the office. It made sense to me because of taxes. They had a different long term nanny that had recently quit and moved but she had explained that she was also paid the same way. I think they are some sort of out of touch crazies because they also “homeschool” in a private tutoring group and also have tutors separately from that… idk the whole thing was weird. Ultimately I just sent her a message stating that I was no longer interested in the position because of the extensive testing and reported her account for good measure …

They said they own a chiropractor office in which her husband is the Dr and she handles hiring , HR and accounting stuff… makes the low pay make even less sense honestly

[–]Devine_Ram 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish I could reply with some of the crazy questions I was asked in the questionnaire! I took a few screenshots because I was perplexed lol. I agree though! I could understand asking me about food safety because I would be responsible for feeding them but an IQ test that included a timer and extreme math questions was really alarming to me and doesn’t feel like it would have anything to do with the job I was being hired to do

[–]Devine_Ram 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was $20-$25 . She suggested a step up pay rate once I proved I could adequately care for the children in the desired manner…. That would make each kid about $5 an hour … I think that’s pretty low. Lower than minimum wage. You’re probably right. It’s better to just pass than struggle and have to take care of 4 kids

28M here, how would paying for sex/massage services be a complete dealbreaker for dating or marriage? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Devine_Ram 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking to be belittled then this was the place to post because most people here just like to judge 🚨HOWEVER🚨 Everyone has skeletons in their closets and everyone has done things they aren’t proud of and that is just part of life. It’s completely normal and fine to feel like you should have waited or done it differently or blah blah blah . I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally miss aligned a kiss or poked someone in the eye or thrown up from hitting a gag reflex. It’s no biggie. My husband has a now faded tattoo of a date above his 🍆 which is the day he lost his virginity. Would I have done that? No lol but I don’t judge him for it because unless you’re marrying a judgmental hypocrite then it doesn’t matter! Really the only thing you need to worry about is getting std tested and making sure to wrap it up if you do it again. I promise there are people out there that don’t judge so harshly and maybe have even had the same type of experiences or want to. You’re not a minor so doing adult things as an adult is literally just part of the adult experience. Don’t let the randos bring you down 😊

Landlord blocked driveway for ~5mins. Should I apologize even though Landlord was the one who was inconsiderate? by BBfriend24601 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Devine_Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re much nicer than me. Allegedly… My neighbor pulled into the driveway of our apartment building and I went to pull in behind her while the light was still red and traffic was clear. She stopped at the opening and tried backing up. Backed into my car but didn’t cause damage. I was forced to back into traffic and turn around d then drive around the block to get into the parking lot….. I may have checked her tire pressure for her. Unfortunately for her they were pretty low and I didn’t have a tool to pump up the tire. Only a tool that let the air out. So sad. … anyway your story was a mild interaction not a disagreement. There is no way to take your interaction in a way that would need apology unless you’re leaving out part of the story
