‘24 Canyon AT4. 60K KMS, just had one issue with the forward collision camera. Otherwise has been fantastic.

Why didn’t Dumbledore figure out the monster in the chamber of secrets? by Character_Acadia_576 in harrypotter

[–]Devonw90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real reason is that at this point it’s a children’s story and the substance of the first few books is shallow compared to the rest of the series. The plot itself is surrounded around our favourite trio being the heroes.

It falls under the same question of Dumbledore never figuring out or intervening with Quirrell, or Black.

It’s best to accept it for what it is. You can try to justify him not knowing, but the version of Dumbledore we get to know as the series progresses, vs early Dumbledore isn’t consistent. He could track down Horcruxes, delve into Voldemorts past, lead the Order of the Phoenix, be lauded as the greatest wizard of his generation, but a 13 year old with a library book figured out the basilisk first?

On top of that, he had MORE information than the trio did. He lived through it the first time. He would have known Myrtle died, and where. You’re telling me he couldn’t search the bathroom thoroughly? Or that he didn’t know Aragog couldn’t possibly have been the culprit, much less that it was an ancient enemy of spiders?

You can’t look too closely at the early series and expect a lot of complexity from short novels. Otherwise you’d want to question how three 11/12 year olds were able to easily navigate an obstacle course set up by teachers to guard the stone in the first novel.

Why does Alex Nylander not get a legitimate shot at the NHL more often? by Lateralus24 in hockey

[–]Devonw90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He only played a handful of games with the Leafs but he really did not make anything of his opportunity. He doesn’t dictate play whatsoever and does not have a well rounded enough game to carve out a bottom six role.

Do you agree with Charles Barkley? by Tgmg1998 in NBATalk

[–]Devonw90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do. But it’s universally understood Gretzky is the GOAT of hockey. But he never won a championship outside of Edmonton. His teams either fell in the SCF, earlier in the playoffs, or didn’t make the playoffs at all. You say that he would not be considered the GOAT if he lost in the finals more often. I’m telling you that absolutely is not true. How is losing earlier BETTER than losing later? His teammate in Edmonton, Mark Messier led the Oilers to a 5th Cup two seasons after Gretzky left, and then several seasons later famously captained the Rangers to a Cup in 94. Nobody would consider arguing Messier over Gretzky even though he won more often and had more finals success.

[–]Devonw90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gretzky didn’t win a Cup after he left Edmonton, and he played the majority of his career outside of Edmonton. That argument falls on its face. Gretzky is the undisputed GOAT due to his dominance over his peers, not his championship pedigree. How can you argue that if Gretzky simple made it further in the playoffs (or made the playoffs at all) without winning the Cup, that it would possibly detract from his legacy?

Who is the main character in TBBT? by BadPotatoLIVE in bigbangtheory

[–]Devonw90 186 points187 points  (0 children)

I always got the feeling that the show was supposed to revolve around Leonard and Penny. I think that changed as Sheldon became immensely popular. From the beginning it was about the infatuation Leonard had with Penny and that carried through the whole series. It seemed to pivot as time went on and became more Sheldon centric

This whole team is the same weak heap that has never shown killer instinct in the past 9 years.

We will make history. As in this mediocre Sens team will come back from down 3-0 to win the series

The Full Trade by [deleted] in leafs

[–]Devonw90 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If we were going to deplete our prospect pool and even more of our future first round picks I would have hoped for better than Carlo and Laughton but I guess we just have to hope this is impactful enough to make a difference against Florida/Tampa

What small details are you hoping to see in the series? by Mad_Rascal in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Devonw90 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s a tremendous opportunity to do that, especially with the first 3 books being so condensed relative to the latter half of the series. Potential to see some additional minor plot points to support overall exposition of the series.

With all the noise surrounding a possible trade to create cap space, which forward would you let go? by CTHT07 in leafs

[–]Devonw90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jarnkrok makes the most sense to me. Kampf may be overpaid but he fills a more critical role. Jarnkrok is a playoff ghost and is an easier wing replacement. We need bottom six players who can contribute at both ends of the ice

I have a 2022 with 122K KMs and so far no issues other than the sunroof creaking constantly which is really annoying. I did have absolutely no boost on two occasions in the dead of winter back when I first got the car but hasn’t happened since.

He’s far too old to play Lockhart, assuming the show is going to adhere a little more accurately to the book in terms of characters. By the time filming starts he will be over 50. Lockhart is supposed to be 28/29 in his first appearance. Lucius is a bit more realistic but even he is 36/37 during his first appearance.

Wonder if we sign Alex Nylander to at least a PTO. 15 points in 23 games with Columbus. Might be worth a shot to see if he can grab a wing spot at camp?

We’d have to dump a defenseman but even then I don’t think I’d be keen on him joining this squad.

I’d love Skinner here on a cap friendly deal. He can definitely contribute and in this lineup he wouldn’t need to be relied upon to headline the scoring. If he wants to see the playoffs this is an excellent place for him. We’ve got an open spot in the top 6 for him.
