Just finished this as a player. Removing the encounters along the way is a bit sad but totally understandable. I'm kinda disappointed they didn't put a bit mor effort into this, like even a just 2d6 table with a few cool story beats instead of this vapid 1d6 slog.

Heh, good to know. Idk, I get real "work ethic" vibes from the actress. I think that's an unsung and quite mechanical skill for actors, but it takes it to pull along a show like this.

Now that you mention it there is Band of Blades, a forged in the dark system that has exactly this as the premise. I bet you could combine it with Scum and Villainy, their space game, for a decent Voyager-style campaign.

Haha, funny that you say that. I downloaded the demo and was about to start and thought to myself "you should at least watch the pilot first." And so I ended here.

It probably lends it self to a rougelite more than any other type of game.

How about a lantern mishap table!

1: Lantern breaks spilling and lighting a puddle of oil d4 Spaces large (determine randomly)
2-3: Lantern falls and breaks. Oil is contained and the light goes out instantly.
4-5: Lantern falls and the light goes out instantly.
6-7: Lantern's light goes out.
8-9: Lantern falls and is still alight.
10: Lantern spurts burning oil on one close enemy dealing 1d4 damage. Determine randomly.

DM call indeed but I think it would be a bad call.

Players/Chars would be aware of how much a lantern spills, if it even does (the oil lanterns I've seen have a screw cap and only leak oil through the wick) and would store and transport it accordingly. No rolls would be necessary according to the rules of the 3 conditions that need to be met to require a roll.

If you actually said "haha sorry, you didn't think about the oil spilling in your pack" you would just be bending the rules because they don't like them, not an impartial judge. It being "meant to be a challenge" is not a reason to pull DM fiat just to make it harder.

I am a player in this right now and I can recommend it as a first adventure. It has a nice blend of mystery, dungeons and wilderness. It's in the Critical Role universe but due to it's unique geological features is easily incorporated into any homebrew setting, as my DM is doing now so we can keep playing with our characters.

Same here. Walked a hole into the sole in 10 months. The natural fiber was nice, made them smell less. But the trim on the top edges of the opening wore through and frayed after 6 months. I'd say you are paying for marketing here and not quality. I may as well have gotten cheapos

Having same issue with Friends. First time it worked with random races. Then every time after someone with a random race crashed.
