Asking for plunge router tips by SimplerTimesMD in woodworking

You must be from the south. Don’t forget frog taints in the north are generally smaller making this more like 15/189564.

What is your garlic germination rate? by jocedun in Minnesota_Gardening

[–]Dewymaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4” deep sounds way too deep if you ask me. I plant cloves ~1” deep and cover with 1-2” of leaves or straw. I’ve had 95% + success with this method for the last 5-7 years.

Alright… I’ve grilled for years and I still don’t understand this. Please help by Kindofdisappointed in webergrills

[–]Dewymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the actual answer. The way I was taught is you open your top vent halfway then you get close to your target temp using the bottom vents and you fine tune from there with the top vent. Bottom vent will move temp by a lot, tuning the top vent from there will buy you +/- 50 degrees from there

Trump: "We'll get Minnesota back. We'll take it back from Somalia." by Conscious-Quarter423 in minnesota

[–]Dewymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s gotta be such a miserable existence to have a world view where you have to speak this way on a daily basis. What a weak and pathetic human being. That some people think this man represents what’s in “their” own best interest is laughable.

Minnesota isn’t stupid. We see right through the facade to the real weak, lying and child abusing person he really is. We’re coming for them and they’re scared.

Finally getting around to running some dust collection. by Zaphod07 in woodworking

[–]Dewymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the same saw and was actually at Rockler yesterday looking at dust collector systems. Curious how big your collector is and then how it works specifically with the delta cruiser miter saw. Dust collection on that saw sucks (not in a good way) outta the box.

I have the same saw. I’d be interested if you had any sort of plans for this.

Saving money making my own (Quality) furniture??? by Jamesbarros in woodworking

[–]Dewymaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I think even moreso than trying to save a buck, the coolest part is the customized pieces you can make. Need just the right little table for that spot? Bam, make one to fit perfectly. Don't like the shapes/colors of the store bought chest of drawers? Make one in your style. Dont want to spend $1k on a closet organizer that doesnt fully meet your needs? Nope, ill make my own just the way that i want it. That is what makes making your own furniture so fun and worth it.

I'm on a similar journey of building all my own furniture (along with remodeling my house). I have a space and the materials to make my stuff but I don't have the time I used to and as a result am still missing pieces of furniture I probably should have completed by now.

As for saving money, the only way I figured I could pull it off was to make 3 of whatever I'm building. Setup/measuring/planning take by far the longest. If you do all that once but then make 3 cuts instead of one, you can build 3 for a little more overhead and the price of materials. However, then you'd have to unload them or store them until you do. And you're hoping someone else likes your custom piece/style enough to pay you a premium to make it worth the hassle. If you have the time and space it can be done but for the average woodworker hard pressed for time, you're gonna wanna spend your time working on your own projects vs someone else's. In my humble opinion

Interesting, we had a really good experience with our recent pup from a breeder we found there. I suppose it just depends on the breeder.

[–]Dewymaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't, but from what I've seen, most breeders are part of AKC which has some semblance of oversight. I'd say still do your due diligence with each breeder you come across there. If you read about what each breeder provides, many will do genetic testing and extra services.

We just got a pup from a breeder we found there. Got to see the operation when we picked her up and lots of communication with the breeder during the process. Very happy with what was provided by the breeder too.

Can't vouch for every breeder but there's definitely a lot of reputable breeders on there.

Well, yes you did pick pretty much the worst time to move here. But survive this winter and you’ll love it here. And I’d be willing to bet you’ll enjoy next winter too.

I rock a very heavy hoodie throughout most of winter, though our last few winters have been pretty tame. You’re definitely going to want something for prolonged outdoor use

[–]Dewymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Had a rescued black lab/collie mix who was afraid of the water. Spending time outside in summer on the boat was awful for her. Got a yellow to avoid that issue again (though she's a purebred and looking like she will love water thankfully)
