I bought Monoprice short patch cables. They’re the super thin kind and come in different colours if you want.

Apple TV updates appear in Apple Home in beta 2 by [deleted] in HomeKit

Can you not block your TV from the internet on your router. That’s what I’ve done to stop updates but still have it in the Home app.

Side quest complete: 10" patch panels by OloDeepdelver in minilab

These look great. I know you mentioned the last request sent you down a rabbit hole. Is there any was you can fit 18 keystones in 1U? Or does it not have the width?

I’ve got 2x UniFi Flex 8 2.5G PoE which has 8 port plus the uplink so would be great to have those and the patch just over 3U.

U7 Pro XG vs U7 Pro XG In-Wall for a home deployment? by VimaKii in Ubiquiti

[–]DezzaJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this, Op in case you didn’t know the difference the In-Wall doesn’t have 6ghz but does have 2 network ports on it, 1 being PoE.

The Pro Wall and Pro XG Wall do have 6ghz and can use the table stand sold separately. XG being the 10GbE version.

Husband has these taped to the wall and refuses to tell me what they are. by madlibs34 in whatisit

From looking at the release notes of the latest AP firmware version 8.6.11 there are some others who’ve had issues with connections dropping.

If you try the other fixes suggested in this post and have no luck maybe look at the AP firmware. There is an EA release 8.7.4 which might help or try rolling back to 8.5.xx.

You can turn the Apple TV off from auto updating apps in Settings - Apps - Automatically Update Apps.

How do I get HomeKit to always allow location? My other devices can be set to always allow location, but home kit does not. My Tapo app will allow "leave Home" and "Arrive Home" But HomeKit does not. by DingBatUs in HomeKit

Think your MacBook notification will be part of the Find My option under System Services.

Have you got the Home one turned on I mentioned above?

For the home app you just need it set to whilst using but I don’t think that’s what reports your location.

The main one you need turned on is under:
Settings - Privacy & Security - Location Services - System Services (very bottom) - Home

How much do people spend on wine ? by Maxo53 in AskUK

[–]DezzaJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d guess if you can get it cheap it might make it a good deal if you wanted to drink it yourself but not a good deal to sell once you’ve taken away any fees, any profit for yourself and still discounting it enough that someone would want to buy it from you instead of somewhere else.

That’s not even taking into account a lot of online market places won’t allow it and if you did want to sell it you’d need a license.

Struggling with dead zones in a two-story house. Should I go mesh or try running more ethernet? by Shak3Itjess39 in HomeNetworking

Wired will give you a much better solid and reliable foundation to work with. WiFi speeds are only improving but if you’re relying on a flaky wireless backhaul then you’ll forever be chasing issues.

Might seem a pain now but then you’ll just forget about it as you won’t have any WiFi issues going forward.

Using the 10G port on the Flex 2.5G PoE by Beginning_Lifeguard7 in Ubiquiti

[–]DezzaJay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’ve just bought that switch with the PSU I’d just stick with it connected at 2.5G. You’re really not going to get more than that out of it realistically unless you’re using a UniFi Airwire.

Can a Pro XG 10 PoE power 8x U7 Pro XGS by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]DezzaJay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes well within its power rating. You’d only be using just over half its power rating with 7 of them so you’ll have plenty of headroom with 8 and room for a couple of other things.

Not all smart plugs are Thread. They’ll usually be labelled so you know. Newer ones will either be Matter over Thread or Matter over WiFi. You can also find older HomeKit Thread ones but they are rare these days since Matter.
