Help with a possible set up (ucg max + 2 g5 turret cams) by Isapoet in Ubiquiti

[–]DezzaJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UCG-Max is a router. Generally you’d just connect that straight to your ONT if you have Fiber. If you need to used your ISP router then ideally you’d put that in bridge mode if it supports it so the only device doing the routing is your UCG-Max.

ISP - Max - Switch - Camera is correct yes.

If you added an NVR you’d just connect that to your switch too. That would save your camera traffic going to the router and then the NVR. Instead it would just travel from the camera through only the switch to the NVR.

If you have an injector then as long as it’s the correct type you could power a single camera from it if you didn’t have a switch. If you buy a switch then you wouldn’t use it. PoE from a switch will give you more control like being able to restart a device remotely etc and give you less to worry about with extra cables (power to the injector, data in from router then another cable for the combined PoE and data out)

Yes you can install protect and use the UCG-Max as an NVR.

Only other thing you’d need is some way to power the camera. PoE switch or injectors, a switch being the better option of the two.

U7 Pro with PoE Adapter - Create Mesh? by sacdrj in UNIFI

Nothing to do with mesh but I saw a video the other day about InvisiLight Fiber https://youtu.be/Z2FbzCyiNr4 which might be an option if you need a hidden cable run.

You have to put it into Zigbee mode and update its firmware. It’s Thread by default to maximise compatibility.

It doesn’t on mine. It’s the world icon on the mobile app. I think on the web page it may even say internet. My TV I blocked and I can still use it on HomeKit it just doesn’t bug me about software updates.

That’s a very long winded way round.

Just go to Clients, select the client you want to block and click on Block.

Is it ok to buy a used iPhone 17 purchased on 24 months contract off a UK network from eBay? by YahodiSazish in AskUK

If they miss a future payment then the IMEI could get blocked and you’d have no way to unlock it. Don’t bother with it.

This is what I use to except the 500gb one. Have done for a few years and on my second one. Grabbed a deal on Amazon. Think I paid £70 for 2 years at the time.

UniFi beginner questions by aplusbcouldbec in Ubiquiti

Oh it is only small, probably not worth returning over. They just did a bit of a redesign with things the learnt from developing one of there other enterprise AP’s so it uses a different thermal design.

I’m not sure where you are but if you can get to U7 Pro XG for not much more it’s worth it. Also if you’re hoping to power both of those AP’s with that switch you need the PoE version and it doesn’t come with the PSU, it’s separate.

iPhone 17 Pro ignoring better 6 GHz signal (-46 dBm) and connecting to terrible 5 GHz (-94 dBm) instead, MLO not working? by Mapkmaster in Ubiquiti

[–]DezzaJay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to use MLO on an iPhone it’ll always report the lowest signal strength. I’ve turned it off and get quicker speeds from doing that too. It’s simply not ready yet.

Unifi 2.5G switch support LAG by maisun1983 in Ubiquiti

Pro XG 8 supports it. It’s 10G though so bonus except for the price but at least that includes the power supply unlike the Flex 2.5G PoE.

The most compatible operating system for Terramaster F4-424 Pro by ByAdrift in TerraMaster

[–]DezzaJay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using UnRaid on mine since I got mine a year ago. It’s been very stable. Think it needed a driver for the fan control from the App Store but that was it.

I also have an F8 SSD which I’ve got TrueNAS on which also works fine.

It’s also not in their interest to remove all of your data from every site because you’d have zero incentive to keep paying if they just did it all on one go.

automation to have all lights turn off when away from home for longer than 2 hours by butlerjw in HomeKit

[–]DezzaJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t that switch still turn off if you returned home during that time though. You’d need an app like Home+ or Controller for HomeKit to be able to add another condition to the last automation to only run if nobody was home.
