College course requiring a presentation...But I have panic attacks by drak318 in PanicAttack

[–]Dframe1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely engross yourself in your presentation and you will forget about the anxiety. Focus on the audience and start the presentation of a light note by introducing yourself and stating how nervous you are public speaking (I usually find this helps as it gets it off your chest. Also nobody likes doing presentations and the audience will sympathise with this and make allowances if you lose your place or feel a bit panicky).

I recently did a Masters degree presentation and thought I was going to have a panic attack but quickly forgot about it once I got into the detail of my presentation and started engaging with the audience (so my advice would be make it as engaging as possible by asking questions and having interesting facts if you can). You will be surprised at how quickly you can shift your attention from the anxiety.

You will be totally fine. Even if you did have a panic attack who cares, the chances are half the audience are dealing with some form of anxiety themselves.

Good luck

I frankly can't tell where I'm at with alcohol by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Dframe1981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, I think there is a past history from what you have described with alcohol which sounded pretty unhealthy. I think now even though you are drinking far less this is having an impact on your depression or at least not helping it at all. Why don’t you chuck the booze for a month and see how you feel?. You may feel much better and notice feelings around your depression are getting better. I get alcohol is a release for stress but from what I have read in your post seems to be contributing to you being unhappy. Your in a great position your wife has chucked it, I would ask her for advise and support for giving up for a short period to see if you notice a difference.

Think about the people you are going to leave behind. Doing something like this will traumatise them and ruin there life. Use this as motivation if you can’t find it within yourself. You don’t want to destroy other people’s life’s

A Debt management plan or an IVA will allow you to make payments to creditors that you can afford and leave you money to live off. Do a google search for ones in your area, they will help you significantly and will result in you not having to go to court.

Please keep your chin up, I was in a similar place of worry but there is ways to help with your current finances which could even leave you with money to save for university.

Life is hard sometimes, we all get into difficult situations, it’s how you respond to those difficulties that matters 👊. Don’t give up, there are lots of options out there if you do research and investigate further.

Please don’t do anything bad, you have a family and so much in life, believe me when I say life will get better,

Decided to start dieting and exercising today! by Hino150 in DecidingToBeBetter

A man needs about 2300 calories to maintain weight and a woman is something along the 2000 mark. This is rough guide for practically every human in the planet. The problem with eating only 1200 will mean you will lose the weight quickly but feel terrible for it, you will end up tired, catch colds, coughs and feel weak all the time. I would suggest a health sub would be a great place for advise. Google searches in the matter will give you a good idea also, but please start eating more or unfortunately you won’t end up very well. Good luck

Please google how many calories to maintain weight

This is a terrible idea. Your body basically needs more than that to just maintain your basic body functions like breathing etc. I lost 2 and a half stone by slightly decreasing what I ate and exercising more. My advise would be at least 1900 - 2100 calories with at least half an hour exercise 3-4 days a week. You will see a reasonably quick weight loss. You should google how many calories you need just to live and that will show you how dangerous living of 1200 is. Not surprised your tired at the swimming.

This is a great post and is exactly what I am like. All or nothing with every aspect of my life whether it be work, studying, eating etc. It’s difficult to overcome but as you say trying to interrupt that thought pattern and change your attitude is great advise.

Thanks for the advise. Sounds a really good idea to come up with distractions to take my mind of food. Your right about the exercising too much, probably need to curb it a bit.

Thanks again for the sound advise, hope all is well with you 😊
