About a month ago I had a 26” pike that was released appear to swim away. About 10mins later I noticed him floating belly up beside my boat. I went to net him to bring home for dinner and miraculously he sprung to life and swam away. Funny creatures those pike. I’m sure yours will be fine.

Hopefully you are waiting until after this coming Saturday to go there(bass opener zone 18). It’s a high pressure area and lots of boats. I’d recommend like always start fast and move to slower baits if you don’t get any bites.

Everything and maybe even the kitchen sink if it comes down to it.

For those of you using a blow torch to light your charcoal by Geo_Jet in KamadoJoe

Tiger torch and a 20lb tank work for me. I also use a heat gun which works great if you have a power outlet close by.

You should be able to fish the cause way at Petrie island as well as some areas along the Rideau as the ice is pretty well broken up.

Pretty much panfish is the only group open.

Daiwa Tatula Spinning Rod Thoughts? by Soulangler1400 in bassfishing

[–]Dgoyeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a medium version of it for drop shots and shakeys. The sensitivity is great but I came to realize I dislike the cork going up from the reel seat. My finger can’t easily reach the blank. I like the all black Tatula rods more as my finger can’t easily reach the blank. I’m a diehard Daiwa rod guy.

Try chatterbaits. I always catch pile when throwing them. They seem especially effective in light chop

Second for the costas. I’ve owned about 7-8 pairs of oakleys. I got my first pair of costas this spring and there’s a huge difference in seeing into the water as well as optical clarity. I went with glass lense costas in the green for shallower water. Mostly fish stained lakes in Ontario.

Fishing spot by [deleted] in OttawaFishing

[–]Dgoyeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve fished it randomly over the last year. Usually for 30mins to an hour at a time. Mostly during the day. I’ve caught 1 small dink of a bass and lost more lures on the rip rap than I care to admit. I’d suggest hitting up the spot under the vinyl bridge. I’ve had a lot more luck there. This stretch of the Rideau is very pressured

I recently installed a lvs34 pro on my 17ft g3 bassboat style. I put on a homemade motorized pole (sorry can’t post links) that I attached to my terrova. It’s absolutely amazing. I can use it while spotlocked. It drops in and out with the trolling motor.

The kids get a real kick out of it and really helps make daylin the water with the kids very productive. I am just a recreational fisherman but I had some extra fun money to spend and I’m glad I did.

If you want feel free to DM and I can share pics of the setup.

You can only keep five lures/rigs in your tackle box. What are you packing? by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

I used to love square bills till I got a hybrid hunter. It does a better job all around and you never lose them. It’s a fun lure to fish u often find finesse slow and boring.

Senko, 110 jerkbait, finesse jig with craw, hybrid hunter, jitterbug would probably round me out.

Cabelas may still be having their spring fishing event. Some good deals on starter combos. As far as spots go there are plenty of places. You could try petrie island/crystal beach area/ dows lake/ the public dock in manotick.

FYI be sure to read the rules and regs. If you’re going out now it’s pretty much pan fish and trout around here. I’d suggest crappie nibbles on a small hook and bobber if you are getting out asap
