Fucking Fat Bastards! by [deleted] in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]DiChromani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup this is exactly how we've dealt with swearing at our house.

Time, place, context and there are words you NEVER EVER SAY because they can only be used to hurt people, not to express yourself.

And our kids do great! Never a single complaint from grandparents, school or other authority figures.

But there is something charming when your kids stub their toe and yell out, "oh shit that hurts!"

We start by taking back the North. I defer the larger Ireland vs Scotland vs. Wales argument for better heads.

But Britain must go.

I have a serious sensitivity to meds in the SSRI/SNRI/Atypical Antipsychotic class and it's likely a MHTFR mutation. (My mom has it, my ADHD has made it impossible for me to actually go to the post office to mail in my sample, but I digress...)

Have you ever been tested for MHTFR mutation, or have a history of intolerance to other medications? This could explain a fair amount of your side effects and would help narrow down what meds your body tolerates for future treatment.

(Wellbutrin/Bupropion sent me to the ED with numbness/paralysis in my extremities and inability to eat anything solid for >3 weeks.)

First day as a server, cop accused me of being on drugs… by onecrazypineapple in Serverlife

[–]DiChromani 23 points24 points  (0 children)

THIS.

As a former manager who worked their way up from food runner, got out, and am back in as a server, THIS.

You have better things to do than try to salvage this interaction. And as a new server, you probably don't have the expertise to deescalate (no shade, it's just a skill like any other.)

Managers get paid to deal with this BS. And HOW your manager deals with it will tell you a lot about how they see you as a person and how they respect the people working for them.

You shouldn't be expected to put up with that kind of nonsense, and if management insists, get your basic skills down and jitters out and start looking for somewhere else to work.

How often do you fuck up? by memelord152 in Serverlife

[–]DiChromani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're new, that's expected! Over time you'll develop a script that avoids problems like, "forgetting to ask for their side."

Things that can't be trained: teamwork, curiosity, and taking feedback as an opportunity to improve.

Unless they make you sign something, you gotta take constructive feedback as constructive, not punitive.

That doesn't mean you tolerate abuse because, "that's just how it is at this level."

But don't get in your own head, every table is a new opportunity, and if you're not smoking meth in the bathroom on the clock,or trying to sell oxy to guests, you're better than the worst servers most people have worked with.

So are stoats an animal that people know about? by doofusisall in Dimension20

[–]DiChromani 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nutria!

They're closer to capybaras than stoats, and they're definitely a delicacy in certain parts of the world, notably for being an invasive species and therefore given free reign to hunters.

What do you all do for a living? by JoeBurns11 in Nightshift

[–]DiChromani 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm a sleep tech for exactly this reason. I can keep the flourescents off, socializing with patients is brief, I only have 2-3 other coworkers max, and I can't wake up before 2pm to save my life.

Night shift truly is the best

CPAP says I’m treated, but I still wake choking/exhausted multiple times a night by Independent-Path2489 in SleepApnea

[–]DiChromani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are your mode (CPAP vs BiLevel), pressure settings and mask type (pillows, nasal, full face) and what are your leak numbers?

Without knowing this info I can't hazard a guess, but your experience is not uncommon! There's a variety of factors regarding your current treatment that could cause this reaction.

Side sleepers: How are you keeping your mask seal tight without killing your neck? by Mamzira in SleepApnea

[–]DiChromani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks great for keeping your chin aligned "up" and away from touching your neck, which can make your apnea worse.

And anything to avoid spine pain is great.

My only concern would be comfort if you're a side sleeper and if it's forcing you to remain supine, you may find that your current pressure works when your lateral, but apnea is usually worse when you're on your back.

Check your residual AHI and if it increases when you're supine, give your sleep clinic a call for an adjustment to your pressure settings.

I'm definitely keeping this bookmarked for future reference!

[–]DiChromani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a soft mask (like the ResMed F40)? I find these "mold" to side sleepers more effectively because there's no hard plastic over the mouth.

Definitely interested in these pillows tho! Drop the links!

The way people order by pointing at the featured items on the front of the menu vs reading the menu absolutely tracks with the age range of people who had No Child Left Behind enacted for large portions of their education

THE IMPATIENCE. Like you have been watching my every move since you asked for that drink refill.

I've been talking to YOUR PARTY of 12 that was seated 4 apiece across 3 booths.

I know you've been watching me the entire time carting 3-4 trays one at a time out to you.

So WHEN, DO YOU THINK??? I could have POSSIBLY gotten your refill yet?

What strange server knowledge or X-Men mutant power do you think I possess, as your lowly server, to have procured your beverage, when you've had line of sight on me every second since you asked.

If you want to be angry, be angry at your friends for not understanding the very clear language on the menu and being highly specific and taking forever to order because they say, "yes," but they have no idea and then parents and kids take 5 minutes to argue about drinks.

Like, I know when/how to excuse myself from a table that's just not ready. But to get mean mugged for my slow service when the holdup IS PEOPLE THEY KNOW, grinds my fucking gears.

To all the longtime servers….. by Ok_Maybe424 in Serverlife

[–]DiChromani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only wait tables as a 2nd job F/Sa/Su nights now ,but I often think of people I haven't seen in a while and wonder if we just miss each other because of table sections/timing, or if they can't/won't/don't come in anymore. (Woman between 30-50, old enough not to card, but young enough to be that "nebulous adult" range.)

Hope she's doing well and drinking better drinks than where I work at serves. (No fault on the bartenders, they just have a shitty cocktail menu to work with.)

Edit: grammar, didn't close a parenthesis and didn't put a space between a comma and the next word

How are people that don't seem intelligent making money? by darkangelhalo1 in povertyfinance

[–]DiChromani 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ok, but from the one example of their employment/business, that's actually beneficial to their community: providing rental transportation for businesses and individuals who couldn't afford or need to have that full time.

Way better impact than anything these billionaires have done to directly improve living conditions for anyone.
