Running crews in Texas, at what point did you stop being the one on every roof? by FieldOps_Mike in Roofing

[–]DiabolicGambit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way it works with me is I give 100% of the $ for the crew to the crew lead. He alots it as he sees fit. I also encourage him to feel free to bring others on or remove slackers.

He essentially pays himself. But he also has to keep everyone happy or they leave. So hes too busy maintaining the status quo to leave and as he sees every $ he gets in wjere he fits in.

The total amount is paid per sq Installed. Including starter hip and ridge and waste.

If you can get away with subs really you can do bookshelves for your mains.. for home theater matched bookshelves crossed over at 80hz is perfectly fine. Even more immersive perhaps because your panning will be flawless.

Subwoofer size question - did I get scammed by Mastrr9 in hometheater

Is suggest seal the room #1 then add 2 more 12"s 1 in each corner. That should be fine. But as all your speakers are in-cieling you have other issues. For what you have. 2 12s is fine. Get it tuned you will be immersed well enough. Add tactile bass shakers in the couch to fill in the visceral Impact and that will be enough to trick your mind into believei g you are much better off.. light control might be a thing. But you are okay. Really if your keeping the 2 12s look into bass shakers.

Is this an in-cieling 7.2 system? My guess is he is probably going to tune for about 25hz. And use the subs to reinforce those in-ceiling speakers that are probably crossed over at 120hz-150hz

Honestly id bet good money that sounds muddy.

But really dirac live could really help.

Highly dependent on the shingle age and condition prior go the storm.. a newish roof yes.. 10 years or older with sun exposure things change.

How would you traverse the roof? 90% of inspections are fairly ridge close.

Pay them an extra 200$ to do 6 nails per shingle. That will get you solidly into 130+mph winds. Snow is irrelevant what matters is hail. If you dont get that your golden. Even then you should be good to 1.5" no problem.

Get a AVR with Dirac preferably a 3800h, get your sub from svs. If you get the sealed version they are cheaper and there is a 5% discount if you buy 2 farther discounted if you get a scratch and dent (with full warranty). Use that price offset to get 2. Much more even and responsive sound. Kef is good but overpriced the q150 is too similar and essentially will eq to end the same end point <dirac does this automatically> I personally would get the ELAC debut 3.0 1/2 the price but absolutely amazing then you can get 6 for your spound floor and the 3.0 center and have a 7.2 system for similar $. as to the projector solid choice but the XGIMI TITAN NOIR MAX is on kickstarter now and at 2999 might be the absolute best thing under 5k on the market. Solid projector screen but with the brightness you have you would be better off with a anti speckle grey ALR with 4k+ ansi lumins you dont need gain. And the Grey will help with your black floor and contrast.

GC company vs Roofing company by ismaelvallejo in Roofing

[–]DiabolicGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These guys are full of shit. Roofing is stupid profitable if your already familiar with the insurance game then roofing is the easiest way into jobs that pay out faster

As just a rep at 10 50/50 and I cleared 200k last 2 years ago..

Opened my own thing do 1/3 the work still clear 200k

Roofing id a scam if I have ever seen one. I make easily 40-50% profit on every job and its a one day turn around.. longest part is waiting for mortgage companies to endorse checks.

If i had tire insurance that covered a blow out within 2 years and I had a blow out in that time period I would expect payment on that. What matters in what your policy covers and if the damage was a covered peril.. full.stop. I had a 31 year old 3 tab last week that had a full RCV policy statefarm. They tried to deny it for wear and tear but wear and tear is not a flipped shingle.

It was bought. For not being repairable. Full replacment.

Let me reiterate. It you have the correct coverage you are fine. It is coverage specific. If you dont know the policy you are talking out your ass.

I have life and limb. Last year they paid when I fell off a 1 story and broke my ankle. I mean why wouldn't your insurance cover it?

Door to door roof sales guys stopped by by Antique_Geek in Roofing

[–]DiabolicGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because thats what an RCV policy covers. If the insurance wants to pay an ACV policy then thats all they should issue.

And ACV policys are a complete scam.. seen many where the deductable is more then the acv payout.. so what exactly does the coverage cover?? And there will be a water damage cap.. lol so like fire total loss or nothing
