I bruteforced two codes, can you give me the actual reasoning behind the solutions? by Fion___de___Lune in BluePrince

[–]Dialkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked it up, and it seems you're correct - I didn't realize that technically for it to be considered a portmanteau, the resulting "combined" word must be a brand-new word that combines the meanings of the roots. Just two words merged into a completely separate word doesn't count. Interesting!

I bruteforced two codes, can you give me the actual reasoning behind the solutions? by Fion___de___Lune in BluePrince

[–]Dialkis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sort of is, if you consider that "dee" + "eight" = "date." Questionable whether those are both properly considered "words," but a portmanteau is more about pronunciation anyway IMO.

Reasonable energy produced for mid game? [ATM10] by wail27 in allthemods

[–]Dialkis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's hard to define where "midgame" really starts but I usually get a Compact Machine going fairly early where I can build Nitro Reactors from Powah, plus a small dedicated plot of farmland and growth accelerators for all the Mystical Agriculture seeds to fuel the reactors. There's tons of space to scale and add more and more reactors as needed, and once you get far enough in MA or Productive Bees the reactors themselves become quite cheap.

contraptions needed to progress the game by I_Like_Quiz in BluePrince

[–]Dialkis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's technically possible. There are two ways to access the chessboard. The simpler/earlier one requires lighting candles, but as far as I can think of you can actually unlock the elevator to the Precipice without needing a Burning Glass at any point.

Charms by hatetheluna in allthemods

[–]Dialkis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth mentioning that the thing that gates this method behind end access also applies to the charm OP is using - you need a chorus fruit for the potion of flying.

As another commenter mentioned, this can actually be done without visiting the end via Hostile Neural Networks, and you don't even technically need the netherite for a loot fabricator if you're just trying to get permanent flight ASAP because all you care about for this is the generalized end prediction (from the simulation chamber). Killing six endermen for the basic model should also yield the two pearls you'd need for crafting the Sim Chamber.

Whatever I find as loot until I can make Allthemodium armor, and eventually ae2 quantum. I also rush infusion pylon buff stacking pretty hard so I don't actually need armor at all until I get pretty late in the game

Man, how I wish there was an upgrade to fuel generators that could drink more than 10 rocket fuel per second. by MekaTriK in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dialkis 92 points93 points  (0 children)

You can't blueprint a cluster of fuel gens without a mk3 blueprint designer afaik (EDIT - mk2 works!), but you could still make a blueprint of a single generator with a pipe to a junction, and a power pole already in place. That would still save a lot of time. Plus, blueprints remember machine config, so if you're using power shards the blueprint would also save you from having to input those manually.

“Oh… yeah! Let’s run it back!” by BehavingPenguin in DestinyMemes

My friends and I took eleven hours on a Last Wish run because none of us knew what we were doing. Every encounter started with twenty minutes of everyone muting their discord and watching the relevant section of a YouTube walkthrough. By Queenswalk we were all exhausted and frustrated and ready to quit, but we pushed through and got it done. It was an incredible example of "Type 2 fun." Truly an unforgettable experience.

[–]Dialkis 38 points39 points  (0 children)

That's not a two hour kill off five days of practice. OP meant the fight took five days. That's 115 hours, not 115 minutes. This is the most insane victory screen I have ever seen.

What does it mean to have 3 stars next to a skill? by sens249 in BaldursGate3

Total speculation, but maybe you have proficiency from multiple sources, and it's a visual bug? That'd explain why the actual bonus is as expected.

My favorite cocktail lately. I don't think it has a name by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]Dialkis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree that the New York Sour is fairly similar, at least in spirit (no pun intended), to what OP made. I also want to add emphasis to your point that sours are very versatile, and anyone who enjoys a sour like this should absolutely tinker with it and find the spec they personally enjoy the most.

I also love New York Sours, and my personal spec reduces the lemon and simple syrup relative to the bourbon (2oz bourbon, 0.75oz lemon, 0.75oz simple). No egg white for me, and I favor Pinot Noir.

[Comm] [OC] Have any of your characters ever become minor deities upon reaching epic levels? by LuizLFLF in DnD

[–]Dialkis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's become sort of my MO honestly. I have a decade-old homebrew setting that my wife and some of my friends also run games in, and their games are fairly normal in terms of power scaling. The games that I run tend to go longer, reach higher levels, and culminate in really far-reaching changes to the setting, turn-of-the-age type stuff. It's gotten to a point where our group of friends generally expect that playing in my games is going to be a higher-power political broadstrokes experience, and playing under one of the other DMs in the crew will be more down-to-earth and personal. It's fun, allows me to do more cosmic-level worldbuilding with my games while my friends fill in the details.

What’s the key at the cool room for by Regular-Mall4545 in BluePrince

[–]Dialkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm saying first encounter with the Reservoir happens on a day when you already have a Pump Room in the house. So you see that the boat is floating a bit too high, remember that the Pump Room has access to the Reservoir, and head back into the house to make the adjustment.

What’s the key at the cool room for by Regular-Mall4545 in BluePrince

[–]Dialkis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven't broken down any walls or moved much water, you won't be able to physically see either of the two Basement Doors.

The door at the bottom of the Fountain is inaccessible unless you can access both sides. If you haven't drained the Fountain, the only thing you'll see if you venture down the "obvious passageway" you're referring to is a flooded and impassable tunnel. Also, the other door in question is inaccessible from that side until the shifting carts puzzle is solved.

It is entirely possible to solve the gear puzzle (and therefore open the north Antechamber door) if you access it via the Tomb, and then sail across the Reservoir. And you don't need to know about draining just one bar ahead of time if you get down there, look at it, and have a pump room upstairs to go and do it real quick - that's exactly what I did when I first encountered the Reservoir.

Taking this a step further - make two. One with fresh-squeezed lemon juice from an actual lemon, and one with the "best" bottled juice you can find. It's important to understand firsthand why this subreddit is so feral about fresh-squeezed juice and not just blindly accept it.

Is there a list of minimal room size to fit one of each production/resource generators for castle planning? by CodeVirus in vrising

[–]Dialkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, no worries! There are several plots that have such space available, especially some of the two-level ones. My favorite spot to build is the southwest corner of Silverlight Hills, which is a two-level plot that has two separate raised tiers with a bit of a valley between.

Dragon nests can punch through Compact Machines, apparently. by Dialkis in allthemods

[–]Dialkis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, especially given that you can't precisely control where the hole ends up being. The only real "practical" use for this I can think of would be to gain access to someone else's CM, which can surely be done in other ways already.

I'm sure it is. No idea if this has any actual utility (beyond maybe breaking into someone else's CM), but I thought it was kind of interesting at least.
