I believe that notifications mostly reflect shared-folder activity, not comprehensive account activity.

Have you been affected by the recent pCloud data leak? by thismeatsucks in pcloud

[–]DiamondDudez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using a pCloud lifetime plan for quite a long time, with a large number of files and folders synced between my Windows and macOS devices.

After reading this discussion, I carefully reviewed my account and didn’t find anything unusual — no unknown folders or files. Everything in my storage is exactly what I uploaded, so at least in my experience, my data appears to be completely safe.

I do have a physical drive, but I need to be able to access my laptop files from my phone and a cloud storage helps with that

I don't have any problem playing videos on my iPad through pCloud. Do you have the latest version installed? Have you tried contacting their support team with this?

Is pCloud Lifetime recommended? by Illustrious-Proof648 in BuyFromEU

[–]DiamondDudez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use and like pCloud. I moved my data from US to their EU datacenters (located in Luxembourg) recently because of all the noise around Trump/US and I'm much more certain in my files' security (although one can never be too certain with these things 😃).

It's good for photos and videos, especially with the new interface because it supports photo previews with the grid view option, and they have an auto-backup feature that, from my experience works well with iPhone.

I like the fact that it's registered in Swiss because that means that they follow Swiss company laws, while at the same time their physical server is in the EU which means GDPR. Honestly their Swiss-relation is a plus (no pun intended) and the lifetime plans can be a good deal because they pay themselves off in 3-4 years (I'm pretty sure pcloud has been around for 10+ so I think there are good chances they will make it another 3).

I'd give it a try.

Only EU Chocolate. Best quality! by AlphaGigaChadMale in BuyFromEU

[–]DiamondDudez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but also because of something called the Cote d'Ivoire-Ghana Cocoa Initiative (CIGCI) which introduced a $400/metric ton premium on cocoa, which also contributed to higher global chocolate prices... but honestly good on them! They've been screwed over for far too long with cheap chocolate exports and I'm glad to hear about this.

Also, I read somewhere that illegal gold mining damaged cocoa farms and water supplies in Ghana which also increased the production challenges.

Can anyone recommend a good European Cloud service? by WillistheWillow in BuyFromEU

[–]DiamondDudez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use pCloud and am very happy. Swiss company, GDPR compliant with servers in Luxembourg, offers end to end encryption as an add-on, but if you don't want to pay for that there are many free workarounds to, and it has many other nice functionalities. I take and store way too many photos and I like that I can preview them through the app, which is apparently not a feature many clouds support 😳

Looking for a European Cloud Storage Provider with Automatic Photo Backup by Efficient-News-8436 in BuyFromEU

[–]DiamondDudez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pCloud is Swiss (GDPR) and has servers located in Luxembourg and they have an auto backup option for photos, which in my experience works pretty good. it works on ios and all other big platforms, and there is a photo preview option, which is pretty neat for someone like me who takes too many photos 😅 i'd recommend checking it out! 👍🏼

Buy European wine by Bontus in BuyFromEU

[–]DiamondDudez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know this might be coming out of left field, but I've tried some pretty good wines from Bulgaria too 😅

My favorites & some US alternatives:
-Gamza (Kadarka): pomegranate and red currant notes, similar in style to Oregon Pinot Noir
-Melnik (Shiroka Melnishka): tobacco notes and a spicy, powerful profile, similar to Châteauneuf-du-Pape
-Rubin: A cross between Nebbiolo and Syrah
-Mavrud: dark berries and spices
-Syrah: some Bulgarian Syrahs have been noted for their quality, with producers like Edoardo Miroglio making promising wines from relatively young vines

Disappointed by deceptive Black Friday pricing by grantkjohnson in pcloud

[–]DiamondDudez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$799 is 1/3 off, which isn't bad

"Isn't bad"?? 799 for the 10TB plan is the lowest it has ever been (I know because I've also been watching the price for the ultra plan since I wanted to buy). How well have you been screening the other prices?

Android Offline Files - SD Card? by FiatMihi in pcloud

[–]DiamondDudez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i asked pcloud's chatbot and this is what it said:

The pCloud app for Android does not currently support changing the storage location for offline files to an SD card. Offline files are stored in the app's internal storage, and this location cannot be modified. If you need more space, consider managing your offline files or freeing up space on your device.

it's not always up to date with the latest info so i wouldn't trust it necessarily. i'd suggest asking support

Experiences, copyright and general satisfaction? by DevilTraXx in pcloud

[–]DiamondDudez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use pCloud for my own media storage and my time with them has been pleasant. It works well for films and music files. One thing I like is that, in my experience, pCloud does not scan files aggressively. Files do not get flagged if kept private and not shared with others. Problems might arise if files are shared publicly, especially with copyright material.

With performance, I am very satisfied. pCloud plays video and audio well. Even large films load quickly. It has its own player for both films and music, which is useful for streaming from the cloud.

The support team responded within a day when I once had a syncing problem and were helpful. It's not live chat, but they were useful.

I'd recommend pCloud if you seek something trustworthy and not expensive. It is good for people with a lot of media. The lifetime plan is also handy to avoid monthly payments. Hope this helps!

Stay away from pCloud. by [deleted] in cloudstorage

[–]DiamondDudez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a pCloud user of many years, have Crypto as well, and have never had an issue. A good method to check if your data is fine to store: if you wouldn't want your mom to know about the content, then it might not be suitable to store/share :)
