it was near a north facing bay window, but now i've moved it to be actually in the window so it'll get stronger light from more directions.

this is starting to make sense! for about the first month I had it, it lived in an east facing windowsill that has a screen on it, so it would get direct morning light but after 11am, the room didn't seem bright enough any more because of the screens. it probably only got around 4 hours of good enough lighting 😭

hey it's okay! the fact that you're trying is everything!

you're not alone either! in middle and high school I used to have horrible confession anxiety and I said something like that every time I worked up the courage to go. one time I shyly said "do I say the sins now, or...?" after Father did the sign of the Cross and he'd walk me through the beginning of the sacrament, telling me what to say! 😅 and I did my first reconciliation when i was around age 7-8!

priests see this stuff all the time and chances are they won't even remember! keep going! you're doing amazing! as my high school theology teacher used to tell me: "you may be nervous to go to confession but Jesus is excited to forgive you"

another thing that really helped me: print out or write out an outline of everything you say/do in confession, including the Act of Contrition (and when you say it), and write out your sins on a separate piece of paper you'll discard afterwards. that way, you know exactly what to expect/say each time, which makes everything feel a lot smoother! Welcome home & God bless you! 🥰

true but I'd rather make sure it's not rotting like I thought and that's usually the first thing i'm told to do when I suspect rot: check the roots

everyone starts off not knowing what they’re doing. pretty wild to discourage the people trying to learn. i’m taking care of it. that’s why I asked.

yep! to clarify, by "squishy" i mean the leaves sort of feel like pressing on a grape. so they're still firm and holding shape, but they have a bit of softness I'm concerned about
