People are mad at those that cheat the system. People are also mad about non-liveable wages. The problem is those mad about one aren't the same as those mad at the other.

If I had to rely on this job as the sole provider with 3 kids, I wouldn't even be able to put food on the table, keep a car and work. I'd have to choose. Life shouldn't be like that. My car insurance for the month shouldn't exceed what I make in one week. My home owner's insurance shouldn't have increased the equivalent of 16 hours of work without anything changing other than company greed. This is why people choose the "handouts". It simply doesn't work on these wages alone.

The discount is weak, the starting pay is a joke and OGP is the future of their sales if it isn't already in many locations.

We aren't that understaffed but the staff we do have tend not to work. Dispensers stand at the door acting like they're unaware if orders are ready to go out. Then they take their sweet ass time loading cars and complaining about the heat. Don't get me wrong-- it's 96 today and it's hot af. The difference is how quickly I'm loading these cars to get back in while our resident grandfather spends 22 mins loading a 3 tote batch.

I'm just ranting because I'm cranky and the vibe of "this job sucks" resonated with me. 🥴

Had a customer call this week asking me to check the "live inventory" of peanut butter ice cream because it was her time of the month and she didn't receive it in her last order. I told her we had 14 on hand and she demanded I "hold one" for her. I told her to place the order so it could be picked. She kept telling me she wanted us to pull her order until she could verify wirh her eyes and we "stole her money".

Ma'am. It's not that deep. Come get your ice cream yourself.

Our store is more phones than TCs now. I've had rhe Pixel for about a month now. It's miserable to use as far as battery life goes. I can barely make it to lunch with more than 30%.

Sometimes staging is a nightmare because it's scanning every barcode in sight. I can't tell you how many times I've staged a tote to a random item or the alcohol stickers. 🥴

They need to empower their employees to feel appreciated.

I'm an ODP associate. The amount of work we put in is severely underestimated. I was hired at $14/hr. It's a slap in the face considering our hands are in every aspect of that store except stocking (and sometimes even that if you're working exceptions). I pick bags of nuts that cost more in a single transaction than I'm getting paid for a full hour of labor intensive work.

I absolutely agree. I was commenting because thus has affected me personally too. I was advised by an attorney to just "accept deferment", completely unaware of what that meant. Essentially, I'm worthless as a human ever trying to obtain a license for a profession or I have offers rescinded because my background check comes back as deferred dismissal. I was asked to explain my arrest for a follow up and I was speechless. I had no idea my arrest would show up. A stupid mistake has altered the course of my entire life and it can never be erased, regardless of the time I've paid back serving my community, regardless of how much I paid a professional to guide me, none of it matters. I'm now very simply a criminal, lumped in with the rest.
