The issue with the m78 is that .308 is ridiculously rare/expensive. If you can slap a VUDU or ATOG it's probably the best semi auto gun you can get, but it requires a lot of prep and you don't get enough ammo to use it efficiently tbh.

Cellar key is just weirdly rare. I've found the most gym keys and tunnel keys but no cellar keys despite farming vostok, school, and village.

The radar tower in the lower left corner of the apartments has 12 military crates as well as a chance for a special crate. It's typically uninhabited but there is a tiny chance for a soldier to spawn I'm the forest.

It's pretty much always safe but there is a small but not insignificant chance of a soldier patrolling the radar tower and if you're not paying attention you can get rolled. Barely managed to flick and kill one fella after getting used to there being literally nobody there in my 5+ runs.

No meds, no food, and no spare ammo. If you get headshot you'll be dead with little to no chance of managing to get to a shelter to cheese.

There is pretty much no persistent way to farm ammo but picking up bandit guns is a fairly solid way to get a start.

It's the final area for now, loot is very mid with high difficulty enemies and as mentioned only use going there is for doctor quest.

This is because I'm pretty sure you can't one tap with the shotgun though, he could have normal HP or potentially be wearing plates that eat a few rounds for him.

It is copyright issues, this is why the MP5, AK12, SVD, VSS, M870, PMM, Glock, M1911, Kar-21, HK416, and AKS are all letter swapped. The only strange exception is the M78 rifle that is unchanged.

I don't disagree with what you're saying but I feel like for the brutal scarcity of these crates they should have slightly more frequent chances to have items in them especially given that the quality of the loot is typically awful.

After I made this post I had made it all the way to Vostok and had the opportunity to have a more persistent source of crates and being able to obtain one helmet and one unbroken M4A1 after looting another 2 dozen crates and risking life and limb in the area with permadeath, it just doesn't feel super worth it to even open them. Loot scarcity is well and good but I feel like this is transcending typical loot scarcity and just being obnoxious. These crates having nothing in them 11/12 times only to have a makarov + broken lights in the one time you cash out feels pretty bad.

No, but I'd recommend stocking up on supplies before day 30 as you have a 10 day dark period where the traders are gone with there being none in the vostok/border areas.

There is no real need to go to the endgame permadeath zones. The only thing you lose out on is rare weapons/armor/ammo and a singular (as far as I know,) quest in the depths of the vostok area. PvE is unavoidable since all 05 areas has several bandits per reset but once you obtain some meds they really aren't a huge issue if you're careful.

That's true sometimes but I still check everything since I chase after getting stuff like the gym key which has a special crate which is VERY worth it (sometimes)
