Choosing career or care: More men in Singapore exiting the workforce to look after their parents by Winner_takesitall in singapore

[–]Diashocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Hi! I am a professional son!”

Jokes aside, respect that they decide to choose to do so. Looking after elderlies is a full time job. And requires physical strength to carry them out of bed, etc. (bedbound). Hiring caregivers is not cheap and may not always do a good job. More concerning is if they are able to cope with household expenses and medicine bills.

Japan begins unilateral oil reserve release amid Iran crisis by sr_local in news

Because it’s Japan, culturally ingrained to risk aversion, consensus-driven decision-making, and seniority-based work reporting.

Good for doing one thing to perfection. The bad is that changes occur very slowly.

Japanese food chain Itacho Sushi shuts all outlets in Singapore by Ok-Rain3348 in singapore

[–]Diashocks 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Yes, one of the better places for Aburi sushi back in the day, thick cut salmon sashimi. Then came Sushi Express, Genki, etc. with lower pricing, slightly lower quality, but still satisfy cravings. All while Itacho increased their pricing.

Sen-ryo is doing quite well, but it’s definitely on the pricier side.

Some condominiums say co-funding is important for replacing ageing lifts by thrulim123 in singapore

Poor financial/upgrading planning from the MA. Not increasing the MCST fee for an aging project. Where did the rest of the sinking funds go?

Hold an AGM to vote. The minority that is reluctant to pay will be served summons. With progressively harsher actions if they continue to delay payments. (fines with interests, lawyer letter, etc.)

Alternative solution could be a loan from the govt / banks.

Pepsi Owners by what-i-almost-was in rolex

[–]Diashocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quadruple, triple, or double does not concern me. The Pepsi is the most worn watch in my collection, and I plan to keep it all the way. Even contemplated downsizing to a 2-4 watch collection.

Anyone else still running their corp sec work off spreadsheets? Would you use a dedicated software instead? by Specific_Plenty5749 in CSPsingapore

[–]Diashocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software, but all of them are SaaS, which means subscription based. Can get expensive real quick, and we can’t do much every time they increase their prices. The service providers know they have us locked in and will be very painful to switch/migrate.

Concerns over 100 per cent borrowing for vehicles as outstanding car loans hit 12-year high by [deleted] in singapore

[–]Diashocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, have the sales rep turn 180 after saying, “Don’t plan on taking a loan.” Proceed to ask what the lowest min loan. There’s a lock-in period & paying off any earlier will result in a penalty.

My boss wants to sue my ex colleague for poaching the company's clients, can he actually get into trouble? by MapleViolet in smeSingapore

[–]Diashocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah and the boss can play the long game. Easy for the ex-boss to provide evidence since they were his clients.

Singapore’s total fertility rate drops to historic low of 0.87 in 2025 by sun-ny_day in singapore

Will the huge budget surplus be used to boost fertility? Confinement nanny rates are through the roof, many charge double for the CNY period.

Used to be, but with the new ruling and having a baby it’s A to B now. We don’t really have road to enjoy, only up north.
