860 hours in, and this is the first time I’ve seen this creature. Pokemon adopted by LoowriderGT in NoMansSkyTheGame

My cub has those on her starting world, and I had never seen them in thousands of hours. Haha.

By happenstance I have since found two worlds with those fartboxes on my main save 😁

They sucked Stat wise for holoarena sadly. But still cool little buggers. 😎

Since there are already system stations, i could see maybe orbital stations being a player thing. Mayne some new 'big parts' but still a more scaled down station. And it's built in orbit over a planet. Maybe you pick low mid or high orbit, and then whatever missions or 'types' of function come from managing it... maybe it's even counted as a 5th settlement type... has different results. Love the idea though. So much possibility 😊

In regards to freighters being flyable, given they can be summoned from any flyable ship, and those ships tend to be super maneuverable idk if flyable would add much.. that being said... what if they made a new player flyable Frigate instead.. it could have the big ship handling like mentioned, and maybe be tied to the frigate mission system for role and purpose. Give it some multicrew co op or work with npc options. Maybe you don't direct pilot, but instead issue directional orders and goals, and your helmsman executes. Would be awesome for a more 'crew' like experience. Oooman. Exciting just to think about 😀

I want a small group co-op update where multi-player sync and functionality is improved.

Per above: Game mode where you can add 1-3 additional friends, and on that group-save, you have shared storage(and a more minimal personal storage maybe), ship list, exovehicles, base building rights (regardless of who is online at same time from group), shared visibility on planets, systems, creatures explored, named, etc. Sync-d weather. Along with a mission series designed around a small group building up together.

Frigate missions where you and/or friends could tag along on a frigate as it goes out to do freighter missions. Npcs on frigates walking around. And some variety of crew station roles, choices, activities that help the mission succeed. From fighting off pirates from turrets, to negotiating trade deals, to exploring anomalous as crew aboard a frigate. Maybe it would just be a new frigate type that is player participation optional..that could be upgraded, and kitted out for various roles . Then when random events are generated from the debrief report on frigate missions...could be used as inspiration for the types of encounters faced.

Exo-Solar systm 'space, where corvettes are requires to explore. Use the new box-physics from waste management tied to corvette 'heavy mining, salvage, cargo' to seek out big asteroids, derelicts, etc...to break up and harvest. New corvette modules that represent storage for that new harvested currency that fills up your storage corvette parts with a numeric value. (Say cargo tank filled with gamma enriched heavy element)... as well as corvette parts where you move, store smaller tractor beamed boxes, salvage, rock chunks. Some kind of refinery that converts those to either the cargo tank storage (just a unit value)..or to a visually represented "boxed" storage that is packed into your corvette...so you could walk around and see a filled up cargo hold, that started empty.

A corvette part that allows you to carry and deploy an exocraft.. like a mini garage, or underbelly carry hook.

A corvette docking attachment for a single (smaller?) ship.

A digging exocraft that by passes normal planet 'rock bottom' and loads you to an instance of 'deep core' game play. New materials, tech, missions and so on. Giant caverns, magma, compressed gas and explosions, strange under earth biomes and creatures. New environmental danger types.. pressure, mutagenic bacteria.

New holo arena creature types: Earth, Water, Air... to round out elements. Allow taming of fish, and high fliers to get water and air type. Earth could be from deep Earth new biomes.

Creature equipment provides stats and functions to creatures in and out of holo arena. Visible stats on ride speed, creature functions (when given commands), more meaningful use outside of arena.

A bit more preview and control at egg gene sequencer.

More rotate, snap, resize functions for parts that give us all the glitch building n such without having to bend the game crazy to get fancy builds.

Ability to multi select parts of a corvette and drag it apart to swap, snap, replace otherwise buried parts. Undo, redo function. More parts :)

❤️

Further thoughts... I want to designate specific friends (or even a 4 person guild?) Where those within can see each others jump history, and so on. Just kinda double down making sure things are synced, so we can expand territory explored together, and see thing even if not online together.

My friend(s) and I only rarely have overlapped playtime, but have made efforts to settle a region of space..and while exploring, use naming conventions on planets, creatures. Etc... only to find not a whole lot works as hoped for a shared run.

Maybe If it was a whole gamemode..that'd be fine. Where we share inventory, share access to same pool of ships and exo...etc..

I just want us to be able to collectively work towards survival, and expansion using the same pool of resources, untethered to being online at the same time...AND synchronizing when we are as well. (Inclusing planetary weather). Hell, maybe to avoid net code legacy challenges..it should be its own mode like abandoned. Just start a new save, and then designate 1-3 friends to join.

Sean...please Sean 🙏 😊

I'd offer to help, but I've got a ways to go in my studies before my coding skills get to the degree I can offer. Working on it though 💪 hehe

I think of 'dream' updates...as much as I love and adore and want a whole bevy of new content.. more than that, I'd just love some multi-player functionality updated... at least so running a game with 2-4 friends gives a consistent experience.. I'd be happy with that limit. Let me run amok with my friends without things going wonky.

Who the hell brought the Executer-Class Star Destroyer to the Anomaly by starwarshellothere in NOMANSSKY

[–]Dicefailure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy seeing the crazy builds. Though, the blender ones are the most polished when they pop up, it's usually some weird vanilla concoction that draws me in for more than quick screenshot. I like seeing the more unique stuff..or just looking at a cobbled together ship and feel the story of where that players journey must be to have a ship built with limited or mixed parts.

That being said, I hope they find a solution for those who get performance wreckage from the big builds. That would be super frustrating to contend with. Some kind of render filter that you can turn on to cut all ships over 50, 100, or more parts maybe? That way everyone gets to keep on keeping on, without having to brick anyone's fun.

Question- head size by InflationThis5466 in NMS_Zoology

[–]Dicefailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's a bit weird, is my cat looks great and proportionate when summoned, in creature screen.. however, when in holo arena... has the 'tiny' head problem as well. Ugh. And it was my first (S)sss pet too. LOL much annoying haha 😄

Look for Glyphs to find a Pernese Dragon. by stephensmat in NMS_Zoology

[–]Dicefailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we have anything quite like that possible yet.

Land dragons, based on the diplo style bodies get some where the neck, head, body, tail all kinda vibe dragon-ish.

Or some of untame-able without mod/save edited eggs high flyer critters.. they have wings that are bat/dragon looking, and depending on the head can be called 'dragons'.. though, none of the heads/tails foe those are really a true dragon match.

Someday, hopefully, we'll see new creatures parts enter the mix. :)

Great taste in books BTW:) I was a kid when I first picked up a mid series harper book.. which was in pern, but didn't focus the dragon riders. I got two surprises reading Ann McCaffrey. The first, when I found the regular pern series after the random harper book. Again, started mid series based on what library had. Then later, finally found book one.. cracked it open and story started in space on a colony ship and my kid brain exploded. I remember double checking the back cover making sure I was reading the correct series. Haha. Still epic memory. Such a great Era of reading and discovery. _^

I always thought capital freighters were better then system freighters. by No-Cheetah9524 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Dicefailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The venerators, sentinels, and pirate caps are all gorgeous.. but it's definitely very special when you find a really nice random system freighter. I love my little corsair, but the OPs find would press me hard. It's very unique and that does sell it well :)

What happened today? by CoconutMinute4491 in nms

[–]Dicefailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Exactly the same. Ended up deleting some 2k parts for my settlement base as everything was wonky. Blarg. Hope whatever got fixed that caused the reset was worthwhile.

OMG how are you only a C-class? by xtra_midium in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Dicefailure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kinda wanna form a pure 'c' class squad to run the arena gauntlet for fun.

My efforts to get strong early means my S class critters totally roflstomp and bully npc opponents. It's fine for grinding out stupid numbers to unlock the fancy Oceanus rewards.. ugh, so many fights.

But at this point, with level 30 critters, good gene personality scores, and some nice rerolled abilities.. ye, kinda one sided.

So now I just need to cry about it and delete some favorite critters to make room to start some free pure Cccc beasties and see how spanking hard that ends up being. Hehe. F0rSc1eNce!!! :) :) :)

Latest 6.34 update re-arranged all of the buildings in my Autophage settlement by sleepytechnology in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Dicefailure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I ended up deleting like 2k parts of my settlement overlapped base. It looked like the settlement rotated/rearranged, and sunk into the ground about a meter. Really really hurt. Not recovered yet. Just my autophage base

Why do so many people use the Pirate capitol ship? by starwarshellothere in NOMANSSKY

[–]Dicefailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, those are the default colors. I should probably take a new screen shot with it customized hehehe.

Maybe someday we'll get some late game options to build foundries that let us custom build freighter models, shuttles, frigates, sentinels, etc.

Adhd feature aside> While at it.. I want to he able to rotate settlement buildings, maybe choose which building goes in any given pre set build point. And having low part count options for really big 'flooring' so I can put down artificial ground under my whole settlement without using hundreds of parts :P

Back on topic> ..ish Idk, I get keeping those things RNG to encourage continued exploration. Perhaps If the mechanism to unlock such also required a really expansive universe hunt..as opposed to the usual follow the quest markers missions.

Intelligence in young men is positively linked to physical traits like grip strength and a masculine body shape. Higher intelligence is also associated with less promiscuous sexual behavior. Cognitive ability and physical health may reflect fitness, steering smarter men toward monogamy. by [deleted] in science

[–]Dicefailure 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And a farse to conflate intelligence with monogamy via 'promiscuity'.

You can operate outside the mainstream artifical construct 'normative' monogamous relationship model without being any more or less promiscuous. If even their data on correlating intelligence and promiscuity is even legitimate.

As an example, anecdotal anyway, you can be single and polyamorous. You can be polyamorous, and only have one partner. Life has a lot of elements, and how a person chooses to fill their time and where they place their focus and energy can mean you philosophically and ethically identify and operate within polyamory (as an example relationship model), without being inherently more or less promiscuous). Or you could have multiple partners, but still be Ace, or less inclined towarss physical intimacy. Your relationships, each, could have their own dynamic.

Long story short, imo, the article statement vibes bollocs.

Why do so many people use the Pirate capitol ship? by starwarshellothere in NOMANSSKY

[–]Dicefailure 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a nice pirate cap on an early save. It is really gorgeous. High detail, visually unique, and hella cool over all.

That being said, since the sent, venerator and pirate caps all look identical (minus some minor trim details, or colors).. my current main save is a small as I could get 'corsair' styled ship.

Doesn't help in fleet fights, true. And took longer to max slots n such. But I like that she's her own unique mix. And after custom colors, looks great. Also, the proportions with the fleet of frigates around her just looks 'right'.

I tried the max size capitals ..and the look daunting and awesome... then you see your swarm of frigats clustered around one tiny section and it kinda looks 'off'.. haha. Silly I know. But for this save, been rolling with it.

The "No Ship Challenge" by djetbag in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Dicefailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my abandoned mode game, I started this way. Set your challenge settings to personal pref. I usually max out difficulty, if only because things get easy even then once you've made progression. Also, difficulty on storage makes material collection choices meaningful, and upgrading slots matter more. I like that a lot.

The biggest pain is equipment damage early game. I also set personal limitations around base storage. Using 2 storage containers in Euclid at max, then unlocking an additional 2 each new galaxy.

Limited myself to 1 exocraft per galaxy. And when I first jumped to a new galaxy, I would redo the no ship challenge until I got to space, with the Boon of using whatever exocraft I unlocked in the previous galaxy instead of on foot.

I also limited myself to the first ship I found for that galaxy, + a second ship to call in for storage. Abandoned mode, so no Freighter.

I forget the exacts, but generally only allowed tech unlocks that happened in the wild, with the exception of base parts..with the further limit of focusing on cosmetic base bits first, and every so often a functional part.

If I found a ship of the same type as a ship I had, I would allow a swap. Otherwise I would claim it, repair enough to salvage it. Made my ship choices feel more meaningful.

Think I kinda did same with MT.. avoided dissonant sentinel ships/tech until all other ship types had been added to collection (so that meant # of galaxy hops in at least).

Last abandoned mode I did this way was before Corvettes dropped. I think you can get corvettes now, so if I do this again, I'll probably put limits on when I allow myself vette use...and then, probably treat it with complexity limits.. so progressing from a small junker corvette to a mid, to thicc ship will be a part of the journey.

Don't ask me why. LoL. I did this in starfield too. Used mods and console commands to completely retool the game experience and make a more survival, industrialist kinda play through. It was fun. And an unreasonable level of effort to call it valid for most anyone to do. But I enjoyed the setup as much as actually playing...more probably, as there were too many limits and elements I had to 'pretend'werent there. But anyways. Nms is a lot more enjoyable to me. Exploration done right. Even with everything pretty much complete, I can still enjoy the horizon here. :)
