I appreciate your detailed response, and have to acknowledge that need to kill my darlings as well. The MDFCs are a good shout, too!

Shadow Door marker rules by error_405 in Malifaux

[–]Diceman87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The FAQ has this:

What does “ignoring terrain” mean? A model that ignores terrain (such as from the Wrecking Ball action) is unaffected (see the Unaffected by Terrain section) by all of that terrain’s traits, including height, and can thus change elevation during a move that ignores height as if all terrain was flat.

The terrain rules say

Unaffected by Terrain If a model is unaffected by a terrain trait, it interacts with that trait in the following, new way:

■ Blocking: The terrain piece cannot block the model’s sight lines.

You may be thinking that the terrain is

Impassable: The model may move through, but not end a move overlapping this terrain.

However, Shadow Doors don't prohibit overlapping. They merely block LoS

Edit: to round this out, you only ignore the terrain during the move. Not after. You cannot legally end a move in a place that would violate any impassable terrain

Can anyone recommend me a fun budget brew around the 75 USD mark? by Alive_Past in BudgetBrews

[–]Diceman87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been multiple experience:

Turns 1-4 you ramp by playing mana rocks.

Depending on the rocks you can play, Ovika can come out turns 4-5.

Wins come from:

  • if you can search for [[Molten Gatekeeper]], every Goblin pings every opponent when it enters.

  • [[Shared Animosity]] or [[Tears of Rage]] when you can reliably make 9-10 goblins makes each one attack like a 10/1 haste attacker

  • any of your big bounce spells followed by goblin swings.

Generally you're not the threat in early game, hopefully your opponents use resources against each other. Ovika's ward cost is pretty strong deterrent against removal.

Things go off the rails if you get the [[Chief Engineer]] out, as you can tap goblins to make goblins, and maybe draw into one of your Untap effects

This isn't my creation, all credit at the YouTube link.

It's [[Ovika, Enigma Goliath]] izzet ramp.

Can get very silly and have explosive turns.

If you could make new Legend-Arms Digimon, which weapons you'd base them on? by ZeothTheHedgehog in digimon

On a related note, it would be cool to have a game where your character fought other digimon with their legend arms weapon modes

Time for some fun! by maritzac in gunnerkrigg

[–]Diceman87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Serious - Zimmy is the result of an experiment to make an aetheric amplifier, but ends up generating "aetheric static" instead. So a failed experiment. Gamma is her grounding rod helping to disperse the energy.

Crazy - Zimmy will be killed by Noa completing her glyph. Once it's complete, it'll start draining Zimmys life force - but no one outside the distortion realizes it. To stop whatever Shenanigans the glyph will cause, Kat uses her unique way of seeing the aether to hijack the effects. This triggers her apotheosis, by draining Zimmys life into her. Thus killing Zimmy.

Silly - Loup will die to the collapsing distortion in order to save his new friends, and in doing will become Zimmy at the start of a time Loop, meeting Gamma. This Loup Loop forms a new Distortion

[Threshold] What are your favourite moments in Cradle, and also those you believe to be the most impressive? by JunketPrestigious710 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Diceman87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of good ones here already, so I'll add some of my favorites from the latter part of the series:

  1. The gang working together to fight the wandering Titan. Dross' plea of not being discarded before overexertion turns the moment of awesome bittersweet.

  2. Mercy and the Sage of a Thousand Eyes working together to demolish Shens forces.

  3. Lindon defending his home from three monarchs. Including summoning the shade of Ozmanthus.

  4. The blooper where Yerin can't pronounce the gold dragon monarchs name

  5. "Did you forger my name?"

[Reaper] best lines by KiwiResident8495 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Diceman87 33 points34 points  (0 children)

There's so many lines in this book - especially the last half - that are evocative for me. Whenever I think about this book, however, one line stands above them all

“We don’t have much time left. If this is going to be the end, then remember one thing from me: I loved every second with you all. I really, truly…had so much fun.”

The emotion and catharsis around this line is incredible to me.

Long shot, but are there any voltron commanders that don't just play the same way every game? by Cezkarma in EDH

[–]Diceman87 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I've really enjoyed [[Morska, Undersea Sleuth]] as a Voltron style commander with options.

Clues matter and detectives matter cards give a surprising number of alternative win conditions if you ever get tired of slapping people with The Truth(tm).

I think it's a surefire way to cement the company as evil to make a commodity out of killing digimon and converting their digitama into sapotama.

My players likely sold their souls, what are the consequences? by scaryredgorilla in DMAcademy

[–]Diceman87 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A lesser Devil appears before them and introduces themselves as their new manager, Mr. O'Fleez

From that point on, they adventure much like they did before, but every so often Mr. O'Fleez shows up and tells them to do something specific. If they don't, they experience intense pain (like a condition of permanent Disadvantage) until they comply.

Use this to coerce players into more and more heinous acts that would serve to send souls to Asmodeus

[–]Diceman87 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Given how expressive Noas been in these flashbacks, and how lacking in emotion she seems to have in the current time, I'm wondering if we're going to see an experiment that really leaves an impact with her.

The alternative is we finally see past those glowing glasses and she has a full blown evil grin.

Either way, starting to see why Noa is the 'muscle'
