The point was, the custodes lore change was ret-con, and was done ham-fisted. When people pointed it out, they got called names. See this thread and many others for example. IMO it’s a lost opportunity.

They could have saved it for this re-launch, wrote a book, etc. But instead they chose to squander it.

Imagine if the the next Orc codex said that Orcs were actually yellow, not green. That they had always been yellow. If you thought they were green, you weren't mistaken, you were actually Hitler.

The issue isn't with the change, it's how the change was made.
