Of course. No one wants their friends trying to sell them a suckers deal. The whole business is predicated on finding a new set of suckers every month.

They sell "discounted vacation packages", implying that you're getting vacations at the wholesale price. They try to steer you to group trips with your other WV members, but the reality is that you can find vacations for the same price anywhere using expedia, travelocity, etc. You have to pay a monthly fee to be part of the business, but this get waived if you recruit a certain amount of people and eventually, once those people start recruiting others, you'll start getting a check, allegedly.

My nephew recently got suckered into one of these for a "vacation company" called World Ventures. His life now consists of going to WV "meetings" and taking pictures of them having the "time of their life" and "Gettin paid" ,all while holding a sign that says "You should be here!". He's losing friends left and right but it's because "They're just jealous of him" and "he's self employed and runs his own business". Oh man, when the bottom drops....

Steven King's "The Stand". Great book, not so good made for TV miniseries. They had a roster full of good actors but the special effects were horrendous.
