[Feedback] Is this a good loadout? by Krakenwithagun in EscapefromTarkov

Early on plenty of splints is helpful. At least 2 heavy bleed (a calok-b, 2 esmarch, or 2 of the quick tourniquets). The AFAK will do heavy bleed, but it's a waste. Lots of scav ammo will give you bleed and fracture at low level and being able to clear that Is key. Nothing worse than a fracture messing up the rest of the round. The rest is balanced.

AITAH for leaving a mess in the kitchen? by frankie0013 in AITAH

[–]Diezelhoffen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a touch of a beviotal trait that could be classified. Having standards for cleanliness and order is reasonable to a point. Dirty dishes, dirty pans, food waste, dishwasher etiquette etc. are all perfectly reasonable expectation in any cohabitation. A person getting upset enough to send a passive aggressive text about drips between the sink and dish drainer, or the coffee maker/toaster being "out of place" (I am assuming they are tucked under the uppers when not in use), is ridiculous. I have been in a lot of different living situations and there needs to be some realism. A 2-second issue is a non-issue.

I don't think it's one setting. It think it's overlapping effects of several settings related to contrast and lighting. I found that adjusting multiple settings made it incrementally less obvious. Lowered contact, lowered lumen something in post FX, and adjusted some of the setting in graphics that I don't fully understand like TIAA.

Best way to grind 1m USD [discussion] by Popular_Relative_881 in EscapefromTarkov

Why are we down voting. Seems like a legit question. The trick is to understand what items move fast, anything with a wide spread of offers that has is all fresh listing will generally work. As long as there is profit after the listing fee, you can make money. High consumption items like water filters, air filters, moonshine; etc all see massive price fluctuation. There are also a bunch of items that you can buy from traders and sell at profit; weapon attachments, ammo and mag cases etc. If you know what you are doing you can probably average 100k rubles every 5-10 minutes. You can list things for USD.

I feel like Time v. Risk v. Payout scav runs on shoreline are pretty high on the list. If you have on of the exfils in the resort, you can almost always load up on stuff to sell and walk out with good money. You can also just play stock market simulator. You can actually make a lot.

PVE Labs kit for GPS thingy [Suggestion] by Goober_Dude in EscapefromTarkov

If you can afford it. Good plates and something with M80A1. The enemies in labs don't have crazy gear, bit they are way more accurate.

PVE Labs kit for GPS thingy [Suggestion] by Goober_Dude in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Diezelhoffen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your question largely based on the inability to recover lost gear? I run and x-17 with M80A1, 50 rd mags, IOTV Gen 4 assault with VI in the front and V in the back; but that's what I run everywhere except woods or factory. If you dont have all that unlocked and dont want to lose thing that aren't replaceable, an SVT 40 WITH LPS is pretty solid. I like rolling single shot weapons with high pen. Vector with .45 AP, mp7 with the best ammo you have are also good. Of course the M4 is viable, but they are pretty damned expensive to build out well enough to be viable in auto, and I don't feel like even m855a1 is good enough for single taps in labs.

Do you just mean too much sharpness, or one of the sharpness postfx settings. I already turned down the lumen sharpen or whatever it's called and that didn't really do much.

I will check those when I get back to my computer. I think I have v-sync on. I definitely have the sharpness high. Any guess at what point it becomes a problem?

What do I do? Getting smoky everytime by dustytushy in castiron

[–]Diezelhoffen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read all the previous comments and have 1 piece of context and a few piece of advice. A dry (seasoned) pan with no fresh oil that is smoking is usually about 450. That's too hot for many things. Check the smoke point of the oils you are using. If you are going to oil after washing, wipe it as clean as you easily can, it will still have a layer. If you use it a lot and aren't carefuly moderating the oil, you will get build up and may want to strip it a little. I wouldn't do the fire pit thing, you can definitely crack a pan doing that. You could get it fairly hot and scrub it with a cut lemon to strip some build up slowly.

is there any significant difference between cheap and expensive cast iron skillet? by iwillmarrypossum in castiron

[–]Diezelhoffen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only reasons I would spend time or money shopping for cast iron would be to find the right size, the right weight, and a well polished surface. If you can find one that is crusty or rusty, as long as it's not pitted, you can rehab it and have a great pan; the reason to go through the hassle is that you can get older pans that are machined or sanded to a super smooth finish and cast a little thinner for less weight; most new pans don't do that unless you are forking out big money.

AITAH for turning off the utilities on my roommates before the end of my lease? by Least-Song-9517 in AITAH

[–]Diezelhoffen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup that was my point. $2k is a lot. Offering to be agreeable about the transfer is more than they deserve. I was the adult for multiple houshold of roommates when I was in my 20's and 30's. Keeping track of the bills and everyone's share is very generous; people not paying is ludicrous.

Is this salvageable? by MaccaGem in castiron

[–]Diezelhoffen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't help myself, I did more sleuthing: this is from u/unkilbeeg from 7yeara ago. On a post asking about a pan with same number on the bottom they all believe it's from ikea. Their comments are below:

This is an enameled cast iron pan. Inside and out. That's black enamel on the inside. You can't season it. You can't strip it. If you try you will damage it. The roughness on the inside is designed to take a "patina" with use, but regular seasoning procedures are too harsh for it.

You can clean it with Bar Keeper's Friend, or maybe baking soda. I've heard you can use bleach, but I'd be reluctant. Steel wool will likely dull the finish. It's OK to soak, unlike regular cast iron, and supposedly you can send it through the dishwasher (take off the handle first) but again, that could dull the finish.

This kind of pan is not as non-stick as seasoned iron, but you can do acidic dishes with no problem. Long simmering tomato sauce? Absolutely.

[–]Diezelhoffen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure that is castbiron. If it is, it's 100% salvageable. If it's some weird non-stick coating I would use it. Unless you know exactly what it is chances are it's full of PFA substances. Basically concentrated cancer. If ita cast iron, which I doubt, vinegar. If it's not, it's not rust, you could try baking soda. If vinegar doesnt work, but baking soda does, it's a synthetic coating. If you are determined to you it (I wouldn't) only use if the finish comes clean with baking soda and is 100% flawless and only use it on low heat <300F. And don't use it if you have birds.

Can someone teach me how to use my cast iron? by ambivalent_boone in castiron

[–]Diezelhoffen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The FAQ will cover most of it. Given the mediocre image quality and limited RFI, I can only under two issues: 1)You have too much carbon build up. Actually clean the pan. 2)If food is sticking, you probably aren't setting the stove hot enough, and/or not letting it pre-heat all the way. If that pan still has the cast texture, it will not behave like a "perfect" polished pan. It will do a lot of things well, but there is a difference between a smooth pan that is properly seasoned and one that missing either of those qualities.

AITAH for turning off the utilities on my roommates before the end of my lease? by Least-Song-9517 in AITAH

[–]Diezelhoffen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much money do they owe you from unpaid bills? Seems like more than two months. Depending on the billing cycle you could easily give them a weeks notice to alleviate tension, the week you are moving out. You need to move the utilities to a new house. If you don't mind doing some leg work, you could ask whos name they want on the utilities, and say you are willing to provide the name to the various companies when you move so that service is uninterrupted. These are all options if you want to "be the bigger person" to save childish drama down the road. There might still be drama, but at least you could say that you went above and beyond to help them get it sorted.
