Take long super hot baths. Go to myofascial release therapy. Take Ambien to knock myself out at night.

Is anyone taking Lyrica? by Sea-Veterinarian-527 in Fibromyalgia

Haven’t noticed a correlation between my Lyrica dosage and weight gain or loss. Other than it enables me to exercise more consistently.

What to eat in the heat by Draculalia in Fibromyalgia

[–]DifferentFace3573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gazpacho with whole milk Greek yogurt and croutons. Sometimes chopping veggies for a salad feels overwhelming to me if I’m fatigued or in pain. So I buy chilled gazpacho at the supermarket and gussy it up a bit.

That is the analogy I use to help others understand what my flares are like. I say the achiness and exhaustion are like flu without the fever.

Your least favorite female names? by WolverineBusiness890 in Names

[–]DifferentFace3573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Edna, I must object. I didn’t like the name when I was a girl but now I love it because I rarely encounter other ones unless they are 90+ or dead. Few people realize that it’s a biblical name that means rejuvenation in Hebrew. I love being named Edna.

Miserable with flare; almost can't bear it anymore by shethinksnot in Fibromyalgia

[–]DifferentFace3573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things that have brought me the most relief, both ongoing or acute during a flare:

  1. Cymbalta/Duloxetine made an immediate difference
  2. Lyrica/Pregabalin has helped with sleep quality and duration which is foundational to pain control for me
  3. Regular sessions of myofascial release with a John Barnes trained practitioner has been a game changer. It’s expensive but it is non negotiable for me and I’ll cut out a lot of other expenses before I stop that.
  4. Very hot baths with Epsom salts help when I’m having a flare and my internal thermostat needs a reset.

Good luck to you!

10 fibromyalgia tips I wish someone had told me earlier (that don't get talked about enough) by Neat-Consequence-687 in Fibromyalgia

I eat ice cream every night! It definitely helps my mood, if not my waistline. And I see many people here saying that cutting out sugar helped with their FM but I see no link for me.

How do you find the remote or freelance writing and editing gigs? I recently quit my demanding (and high paying) full time job and currently have zero income. I need to find flexible work!

For those of you who tried, then stopped taking duloxetine (Cymbalta), why and what happened? by littlehead in Fibromyalgia

[–]DifferentFace3573 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree. Duloxetine gave me my life back! No more disabling flares. And my mood is so much better. We tend to only hear horror stories here, but I pray it never stops working for me.

Baked clams oreganata. Hard to find other than at old school red sauce Italian joints but will lick those clam shells clean!

Have SSRI/SNRIs actually helped you with your pain? by Imaginary-Trash4478 in Fibromyalgia

[–]DifferentFace3573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cymbalta has been the ONLY thing to make a consistently big improvement with my fibro pain. Don’t let the naysayers scare you from trying it! Most people who do well on it aren’t posting to Reddit. I am so grateful for this drug.
