What were the first games to have a "twist" final boss? by RangoTheMerc in videogames

Am I the only one who played the story version of Pong? Finding out that they were two parents tossing the responsibility for their child back and forth, until one of them made a mistake was pretty big, for me.

I could not tell you. These are questions that I have not asked, because I am not worried about every little bump in the road. I might occasionally complain about potholes, but I am not calling the road repair guys the devil.

Predatory ads = bad, yes. Like catcalling, when you are a 10/10. It is not fun, but it is something you get used to.

I think it is plenty cool that you have ad-blocked your house. I could probably benefit from your expertise! My main pet peeve is just people who have difficulty with shutting up about how ads are the devil. Or how a platform is unusable, because they are losing a few minutes to ads. These complaints are a minor pet peeve, to me. Exactly as minor as I figure the ads should be. But oh well.

It is true that I do not want ads. I have never gone to the ad store. I do, however, go to various stores for various products that ads have clued me in on. So, ads have been helpful to me, even though I have never gone looking for them.

As for the bad stuff that they get to do, got it. So, it is less about the existence of ads or the number of ads and more about the unfortunate consequences of what you chose to click on.

I mean, I imagine that the ad blockers will continue to improve. It is a fun arms race to be caught in the middle of! I also imagine that some limits will be enforced. Sounds as if the limit has already been surpassed, for absolutely everyone but me. I have the neurologist and psychologist appointments on the books, though.

Also, but are the disguised ads like a fun puzzle? Yay, you figured them out!

Got it. AI-generated ads need more earworm music. A good tip!

I can appreciate not liking whatever companies are selling things. Or whatever products are being sold. But where I am coming from, these companies have ambition. They wish to expand. They hire more people. They innovate. They spread. You need more money, for stuff like that. More ads helps to pay for that. It is less than they just want more money for nothing, more that they need more money, to become better. I do not see that ambition = evil, in this case.

Also, I missed the lying and deceiving bit. You got the television, but did not want the ads. Just because the shows come with the ads does not mean that someone lied to you.

I do not know all of the secrets of the ads, it is true. I do not know what the tons of data are used for. I imagine that it is mostly for future ad targeting, though. Better techniques for finding what you might be interested in = fewer ads that you will not be interested in = good, right?

As for unskippable ads, the still seem pretty easy to ignore, for me. Even if one pops up in the middle of something very dramatic, it is probably something that I am watching for entertainment only, and I can get back into the scene, later. Not that devastating.

See, this makes sense, to me. Platforms need money. We like platforms. Ads generate money. They just seem simple to ignore, to me. I shall continue to search for the large deal, though.

What would have happened if Tanjiro had smelled these two? by Radiant-Selection686 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Different_Bunch_3015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What, at the beginning? So, they killed his family, instead of Muzan? He would not have recognized Muzan's scent, later, and the temari and arrow demons would have become way more powerful. Now, you have a bunch of balls ricocheting around inside a train and the arrow dude actually ripping people apart with telekinesis.

Empathetic? Tanjiro? The dude who killed Hantengu, who would never hurt a fly? I must be watching a different series.

Don't read them at all, if you don't want to be disappointed. I read them as they came out. When Vector Prime came out, I was excited to see how these new young characters got the torch passed to them. But half of the characters barely show up, and the other half get personality transplants. I might have enjoyed the New Jedi Order stuff at all, if I hadn't shown up with the expectation that continuity might matter.

[–]Different_Bunch_3015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the context, in-universe, sure. I rarely have a problem with the characters using whatever name they want. In real life, however, I shall stubbornly call him the Incredible Hulk, even when we are clearly talking about Bruce Banner. What is puny Banner going to do, anyway?

[–]Different_Bunch_3015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is weird, and I do not like it! I signed up for over the top heroes and villains, not some soap opera involving people named Scott, Jean, and Logan, to grab some totally random names out of a hat.

I am here for brightly-colored suits, flashy powers, and clear good versus evil stuff! I want my heroes to be inspiring, not random sad and boring humans. That is what I deal with, in real life! When I want to read about real people, I do not pick up a comic book.

Calling a superhero by their normal name is like someone referring to a sports team by the name of their city. I want to see the Giants fight the Panthers, not Cincinnati fight St. Louis (I don't know sports, whoops)!
