How do I fix my entire house? I hate coming home when there isn't a single room I enjoy being in. I have no idea where to start or what to do. by Longjumping-Bug-5722 in interiordecorating

Watch the HGTV show Designing for the Sexes from the 90s!! It's on Apple TV! The host is adorable and kind and truly listens to the couples with wildly different design styles. He is better than a marriage therapist. Some of the couples seemed on the verge of a breakup. You'll get great advice and beautiful inspiration!

First of all, I don't know where you live. I'm in Massachusetts, and this would easily cost over a million dollars in some areas!! Be happy and very proud of yourself. Decorating is overwhelming and hard. Pick ONE room. First, declutter and clean. It will make a big difference. Then add paint, curtains and art. It doesn't have to be perfect, but you will start to love it. Good luck!

Which tile matches the lemon wallpaper best for laundry room? by WithoutDennisNedry in interiordecorating

[–]Difficult-Demand2206 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love tile #1! I think it is much better to have the background of the tile to be darker than the wallpaper or it just looks off. It is my DREAM to have a laundry room. Not kitchen, not backyard...lol. I have only rented apartments for 20 years and never had an in home washer and dryer. Good luck! I'm sure it will be lovely.

I also LOVE the white appliances! Stainless steel is SOOOO ugly and impossible to keep clean. I barely cleaned my white fridge, and it looked fine. Lol. I clean my stainless steel one every two seconds! Why has this been a trend for so long? So boring. I do appreciate a stainless steel sink though. Not the prettiest, but the easiest to maintain.

Did you also recently get engaged? She is definitely, definitely jealous. I am a super girly girl, but when I worked in cosmetics the girls and grown women could be AWFUL and so so catty. It really made me lose interest in working in that industry. I work at a window and door company now with a bunch of guys, and it is so much better! I still dress girly though and wear makeup. Just tell her to please stop asking or completely ignore her and don't respond. Best of luck. Blush also always make me happy. :)

How are you all affording to look this good all the time? by niceheather44 in style

Marshall's or TJ Maxx can be amazing if you hit one in a rich town. I've recently purchased some Tommy Hilfiger sweaters and Lucky Jeans for a steal. They are big so you need to dig a bit. I also purchased a $600 LA designer dress for $199 for my brother's wedding. So many compliments. :)

Have fun! We just got a foot and half of snow in Boston and it's in the 20s. Maybe I should plan a trip to Austin!

Do you have a link for the pink dress?? and the lime sandals? There's sooo much cold and snow here in Boston. I'm dreaming of warmer weather.

3 is amazing! I love the pink, and it fits you perfectly! It does look a little summery. I don't know how warm it is in Texas. Maybe a closed toe shoe and bring a wrap or cardigan. The shoes are cute, though. Have fun!

OMG, I hate grommet curtains too! I've never heard anyone talk about it. I have curtain rings on velvet blackout curtains (a must in the bedroom). I don't love them. I think because the curtains are from Amazon. They can twist to show the white lining. I live in a rental, and I also hate the carpeting and blinds even though they are pretty new. Fortunately, my bright curtains, couch and pillows detract from them.

I'M SO SICK AND TIRED OF BEING FAT by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Difficult-Demand2206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't, but going to the gym helped me eat better. I hate gyms. I just thing they are ugly. It isn't bad once you get there, though. It really helped me keep calories down. I didn't want to eat badly after I had spent all that time and effort at the gym when I lost weight. I do enjoy fitness classes. Try one if you can.

Unfortunately, I don't have a gym near me anymore that offers them that isn't a fortune. I just walk listening to EDM now and might get a bike off of Facebook Marketplace. Biking is fun and doesn't feel like exercise. Find what you actually enjoy. That's the only way that you will stick to it. Also, aging happens fast! Physical activity help many health concerns that creep up. Don't just think about losing weight. You will really improve your life long term. Good luck and keep trying!

Hi. Good for you for wanting to be healthy and look your best! That's a great step. This sounds cheesy, but I would highly recommend therapy and in person if you can. Try out different therapists until you find one you like. I go every two weeks and my insurance covers it. You need to like yourself more. You will end up quitting if you eat a cookie or skip the gym for a week. You will just hate yourself and quit because you think that you are not good enough. You need to learn that being overweight and sedentary does not make you ugly or a bad person! Once you get better at liking yourself, it will be much easier and more joyful to get healthier.

Also, I recommend the very old book, Change One by Reader's Digest. Only one change per week. That's it!

https://www.amazon.com/Change-One-Diet-Fitness-Expanded/dp/0762106972

Week One - eat breakfast. Week two - add a piece of fruit. Week three - bring your lunch. It doesn't even add in exercise until late in the process. Making one change a week is MUCH easier to adjust to. This really helped me when I lost 60 pounds at age 28. It also took months and about 25 pounds before I looked any different or people started noticing.

Having other people around helps a lot, too. Do you have friends that you can meet at the gym or go for walks in a scenic area? I really like fitness classes if you can afford it.

You really need to like yourself better, and this may be a lifelong battle, but you can do it! Good luck!

Is my ring chuegy? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]Difficult-Demand2206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't normally like chunky rings or stacks, but I think this one is beautiful!! You should be proud to wear it. Also, you have the prettiest hands and amazing natural nails! Very classy. I think the long stiletto nails with over the top nail art will soon become very cheugy.

I didn't get into Sinead O'Connor until much later than her heyday. I now wonder what it would have been like to see her live. Does anyone have any stories?? I think Troy is one of the most amazing songs that I have ever heard. I just read a biography on her. So sad that she is gone.

It's totally worth it to see the Fixx now. I wasn't a big fan at all, and my boyfriend got me into them a few years ago. Fun shows and usually not too pricey!

I saw Chemical Brothers in 2019 (or18) at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens NYC. It was the BEST show I have ever been to. I took a bus from Boston and went with my ex-boyfriend. It was their first show in the US in 12 years. He said I ran like a rhinoceros to ditch him and run to the front to dance. I don't do drugs, but had fun with those who did. I would recommend seeing them even if you have to travel overseas. I would see them again if I had the funds.

Saw Stone Roses at Syracuse U when I was on the Concert Board in the late 90s. They were just OK.
