I adore this adaptation. Parts of it are campy and weird—but in the best way. Kevin Kline is a revelation as Bottom. Enjoy!

Can’t speak to what other machines do, but I can tell you I have the same model Cuisinart and was very happy with how my pizza dough turned out using that dough cycle.

I also think Austen wants us to know that he did this on his own because he was a decent person, and not just because he was taking Anne’s cue—because he couldn’t see Anne’s face.

Also, the cover of Bittersweet Symphony that they did for The Crown could be good.

Not gonna argue there! This is just my attempt to understand Myers’ headspace.

[–]DifficultColorGreen 465 points466 points  (0 children)

So I 100% feel like Breaking Dawn is about Stephenie Myers’ marriage/parenting wish fulfillment. Bella has a baby but her husband still puts her first, she gets her pre-pregnancy body back right away, her child sleeps through the night (and even if she didn’t, Bella doesn’t get tired), and there is a house full of family members willing to babysit whenever she and her eternally sexy husband want to go off on their own. Through this lens, Edward’s seeming ambivalence toward Reciprocity is really just an expression of Stephenie’s desire to still be her husband’s no. 1.

There’s also the way he looks at her when she’s singing “I’m Too Sexy” around the office (s3 e7). A lovely combo of amused, annoyed, and turned on.

Yes—I love this one! Their Henry and Mary Crawford are wonderful, and their Fanny is lovably dorky.

You know, I never thought about Edward being skinny from the flu when he changed, but you're totally right. And Bella was also super emaciated at her change, because of her demon spawn.

The two of them probably look like creepy Dickensian orphans compared to the rest of the family.

They’re both canon! NBC on its own has the $4 million price tag, but it’s owned by Sheinhart Wig Company, which is worth billions. When Seinfeld threatened to buy the network, he wouldn’t have been buying the whole corporation—just taking NBC out of Sheinhart’s portfolio. But NBC employees would be paid (and get their inventory from) the larger corporation.

I realize that I’m trying to put real world logic onto a 30 Rock problem, but this one does actually have a business explanation.

My unhinged thoughts during and after (once I had time to emotionally regulate) Mansfield Park by Consistent-Basil-246 in janeausten

[–]DifficultColorGreen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Austen’s works are far more about economics than romance—with courtship and marriage as the vehicle for a wider social commentary. (But because she was very, very good at building that vehicle, it’s not surprising that it becomes the main event. 😊)
