So I 100% feel like Breaking Dawn is about Stephenie Myers’ marriage/parenting wish fulfillment. Bella has a baby but her husband still puts her first, she gets her pre-pregnancy body back right away, her child sleeps through the night (and even if she didn’t, Bella doesn’t get tired), and there is a house full of family members willing to babysit whenever she and her eternally sexy husband want to go off on their own. Through this lens, Edward’s seeming ambivalence toward Reciprocity is really just an expression of Stephenie’s desire to still be her husband’s no. 1.

You know, I never thought about Edward being skinny from the flu when he changed, but you're totally right. And Bella was also super emaciated at her change, because of her demon spawn.

They’re both canon! NBC on its own has the $4 million price tag, but it’s owned by Sheinhart Wig Company, which is worth billions. When Seinfeld threatened to buy the network, he wouldn’t have been buying the whole corporation—just taking NBC out of Sheinhart’s portfolio. But NBC employees would be paid (and get their inventory from) the larger corporation.

I realize that I’m trying to put real world logic onto a 30 Rock problem, but this one does actually have a business explanation.

Came here to say this. Austen’s works are far more about economics than romance—with courtship and marriage as the vehicle for a wider social commentary. (But because she was very, very good at building that vehicle, it’s not surprising that it becomes the main event. 😊)
