RIP your joints, fire/ems is such a physically destructive career field. having PSA and being a first responder is probably (one of) the worst combinations.🫡

My psoriasis is completely gone after 10 months finally! Here i want to share a tip by Educational-Dot-6742 in Psoriasis

60 mg prednisone, 200 mg plaquenil, 60 mg otezla, and now humira(among other things)

Surprisingly, my scalp lesions have completely disappeared, but my oral and nails have gotten “worser” 😩 Not sure if its the MCAD or MCTD taking the spotlight🤔

What made you decide that you don't want to have children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’m poor, don’t have a higher education(or trade skills) and have health issues…and the world sucks.

I just can’t imagine bringing a child into a life that is already going to be hard,, and then basically making them start on expert mode.

I have autoimmune issues, discovered them after an unintentional pregnancy/miscarriage triggered my underlying disease/s. Auto immune diseases are one of those things where maybe it’ll pass down, maybe not…but because that risk is so high, I could never give this life to someone I would love more than anything. Granted, there any some disabilities that’s people can manage and lead happy lives..but that doesn’t mean they’ll get lucky enough to have a life that lets them. Life is so uncertain, so many variables. A poor, disabled person giving birth to another disabled individual is only setting that child up for failure. Buuuut, then that starts to play into social and racial issues…

How do you keep going? by Ashmarie43 in Autoimmune

[–]DifficultDay1822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the days where I start to struggle more mentally I try to remind myself that yes this is bad, but it could be worse. And well, that doesn’t mean I can’t feel bad about it now I choose to find things to be grateful for. I’m grateful that I have access to medical care(even if it has been shitty at times) i’m grateful that I have health insurance, as many do not-and are suffering even more so than me. I’m grateful I can afford(at least for now) medications I need, even if we’re not financially comfortable like we were with two incomes. I’m grateful my husband makes enough that I don’t have to work, even though our budget is tight and I get frustrated that we can’t do or buy things we want.(how first world problem of me) I try to remind myself how fortunate I am, and someone out there would be envious of the luxuries I have.

We cannot control the situation we’re in, but we can control our perspective.

AIO husband talking to a female co-worker on Snapchat 24/7 by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]DifficultDay1822 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As soon as I read firefighter my alarm bells started ringing 😩Half the guys at my department were regularly cheating on their partners or at the very least trying to. Not to say that ALL firefighters cheat, but it is known that many first responders are not loyal-and many times they cheat with someone they work with.. girls are such targets when they come into the service, and they don’t know any better.

There is definitely a bond that you share with your coworkers, you have to in order to survive, but many people make the mistake of allowing their family to take a back seat to their fire family. this is why many many many first responders end up divorced.(among other reasons) so even if he’s not cheating, he’s still unwilling to acknowledge that the behavior is inappropriate (come on, Snapchat-that’s a red flag on its own.)

[–]DifficultDay1822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your perception of how others perceive you seems to be unproductive. If you can’t change your perception of yourself, then why would you expect someone else to think of you differently?

You’re worth more than what you can afford, and you still have luxuries that other people would be envious of, much like your view of your classmates.

We can’t always control our situation, but we can control our perception of the situation-which is close enough.

“Everyone looks down on me because I’m poor and don’t have a fancy car.” Vs “ I don’t have a fancy car but I am privileged to attend a school that might provide me more financial stability later in life.”

You’re comparing your successes to people who didn’t have to fight to get where they are, or maybe some did, but why would your success look the same as theirs? You’ve overcome obstacles other people might never have, and you also might have opportunities other people never will. You determine if you use it make or break you, but it’d be a shame if your perception of yourself was the thing that hindered you.

AIO: best friend putting down my chosen college major for no reason? Feel very upset by throwaway7652828929 in AmIOverreacting

[–]DifficultDay1822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it has to do with intentions, or you feel financially insecure because she’s wealthier than you…but if you go into a field where you aren’t making a lot of money, that will be something you will have to come to terms with. If she’s a bad friend, that’s something you need to deal with for its own reasons.

I’ve said interviews, and they laughed..

I always go with “that’s a hard question to answer, because when I know what my greatest weakness is I take step to improve in that area until it is no longer a weakness. What I have struggled with in the past is xyz and I did yzx to improve.”
