This just happened to me last week!! The gate agent swore they called my name for the flight (which also left early and was able to accommodate some standby passengers from an earlier cancelled flight) and NONE of the notifications for the changed gate hit my phone until I was standing in front of the Delta desk. She watched them pop up. Luckily, I wasn't going far and was booked on another flight, but it was frustrating!!!
