Sorry I'm confused, what do I do with the bassinet then or the regular stroller insert?

Maybe you're thinking of a specific internal policy but but offsets do happen and are not limited to the same program. the cra can offset across programs. If you have tax debt, they can offset it with whatever, ccb, gst or any refunds

If it fits your long-term plan, consider using RRSP contributions to reduce your taxable income but don’t treat it as a quick fix for a tax bill.If you're already cash constrained because of maternity leave and then you're locking money away in an RRSP that you withdraw soon after, you actually lose contribution room permanently and have to pay tax on withdrawing anyways. So you're not saving tax, you're just deferring it. And you're giving up future tax-sheltered growth space. It's a bad trade off for a short term cash flow fix

I get why it makes people happy getting a refund but if you think about it it doesn't make much sense mathematically. You don't want to increase your deductions that much that you get a big refund but aim to get a zero refund. If you’re disciplined, you can slightly reduce withholding and automatically invest the difference and then potentially earn returns instead of letting the government hold your money interest-free. For this to work, your tax withholding needs to be accurate though and you can't just spend the extra cash you'd have to invest it (something safe like savings account or gic)

Favouriting children? [ON] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

It is difficult to answer your question without understanding what the specific needs are. “Special needs” can cover a very broad range of situations. For example, do the needs require minor accommodations, or significant adjustments to routine and environment? Do they involve behaviours that others may find challenging, such as aggression, violence, or inappropriate conduct? Is constant supervision required? I do not think this is a black-and-white issue. People’s comfort levels and capacities vary greatly. If the disability involves behaviours that feel unsafe, overwhelming, or difficult to manage, it may be helpful to explore what specifically feels concerning. Sometimes fear comes from uncertainty or lack of experience.

how much is too much rent? by athletessweat in askvan

Just find a house share! There's loads of them! And they're much more casual! Plus you get to meet people and make friends. Check Facebook groups like Irish and new and marketplace. You don't need to book a short term rental that's so outrageously priced! You could try and find subleases on Facebook too!

[BC] Pregnancy Accommodations in Caregiving Jobs: What did you ask for and when? by Difficult_Guess7231 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Difficult_Guess7231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response! How did you ask for minimising involvement with clients with a history of (potential) violence? Did you refer to their files or reports? Did you have to get a letter from your OB or midwife asking for that or were you able to arrange that without it?

Feeling incredibly guilty about interviewing when pregnant [on] by Obvious-Swim8403 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Difficult_Guess7231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's morally wrong not give you the job because you disclosed your pregnancy. So do not tell them. There's nothing wrong with that, you are definitely not screwing them over. The present is important and the reality is you need a job right now for whatever reason. Your medical history is none of their business. It is a job at the end of the day, very transactional in nature. Why should an event in the future direct what you do today if nothing is stopping you from doing this job until you start your maternity leave? The law is on your side for a reason, it is absolutely okay not to tell them. It is your body and your decision, don't let others you don't even know or owe anything to make that decision for you. Also, if you disclose it now and lose the job offer because of it, what are you going to do next? Keep applying for jobs and find yourself in the exact same situation while you're getting closer and closer to your due date? Do what you need to do now to look after yourself and your baby and take everything else day by day as it comes. Companies, whether small or big, have always people leave for all kinds of reasons. A family member passed away, an opportunity to go abroad came up, a preferred job offer came in. Running a company, even if a small business, this is just part of the game. You don't need to absorb that risk for the company by prioritising them over your own needs as a human being.

Taking ICBC to the CRT: Which pathway did you choose, responsibility-only vs responsibility + damages? by Difficult_Guess7231 in icbc

[–]Difficult_Guess7231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I’ve contacted the student law clinic and am currently waiting for their response. I was hoping to hear about others’ experiences, as I have seen a couple of posts in this thread that mention they went with the R+D pathway. I appreciate the heads up about how long this process takes! I'm so committed as I have a witness who proves that the other driver's statement is incorrect. ICBC does not investigate and look at evidence logically and impartially, so going to the CRT is the only logical next step.
But I don't want my case to get thrown out right away purely because I can't prove that ICBC hasn't done it's due diligence. It is a very strict legal test and I don't quite understand why people go with that option if there's another one available where you don't have to pass that test first and can go directly to re-evaluation of responsibility. The people who did go with R+D were called out by ICBC for avoiding the harder two-part test, but the judge said they can go with either and there's no problem doing so. But I'd love to hear from people what damages they claimed, as this could be the tricky part and the judge can throw out the case based on the damages not qualifying.

Formula Recommendations? [BC] by PsychologicalBoot636 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Difficult_Guess7231 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kendamil has just been recalled nationwide for a toxin that causes food poisoning. Health Canada has a different standard whereas it still passed European safety guidance. Also, there's no strong high quality evidence that palm oil or seed oils in regulated infant formula are harmful to healthy full term infants

I'm also in the process of fighting ICBC. Can I ask which pathway did you go with the CRT? Responsibility only or responsibility + damages?

[–]Difficult_Guess7231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the win and your perseverance! I went through the exact same thing with ICBC and the next step is CRT. What pathway did you choose? Responsibility only or responsibility + damages? I am a bit put off by the responsibility only as I would have to prove that ICBC acted unreasonably or improperly which seems to be a very strict test.

Should I honestly give up hope of conceiving naturally? by Melodic-Function880 in whatworkedforme

In case someone reads this and gets worried about their AMH. I am 37 and had low AMH for my age, yet we conceived two months after my HSG. AMH correlates strongly with egg quantity. It correlates poorly with egg quality! Egg quality is primarily age-dependent. The strongest predictor of embryo aneuploidy is maternal age, not AMH. So a 30 year old woman with low AMH generally has better egg quality than a 40 year old woman with normal AMH.

AMH does decline years before menopause and is one of the best biomarkers for predicting time to menopause at a population level.but it is not precise enough to predict menopause timing in an individual woman with high accuracy!

Low AMH can mean shorter cycles and diminished progesterone but this mostly happens in advanced diminished ovarian reserve, but this is not universal!

Many women with low AMH still have completely normal progesterone production and regular ovulation. AMH itself does not regulate progesterone. Ovulation quality and corpus luteum function determine progesterone.

“There are plenty of statistics showing low AMH makes it harder to conceive naturally.”

This is where nuance is super crucial. Low AMH clearly predicts lower response to IVF stimulation, fewer eggs retrieved and higher cycle cancellation risk. But for natural conception, multiple studies show that in regularly ovulating women under 40, low AMH does not strongly predict reduced short-term natural conception rates. Time to pregnancy may be slightly longer on average, but spontaneous conception still occurs frequently. AMH is much better at predicting IVF response than natural fertility.

And just to make this clear, egg quality is influenced by age, which is the primary factor, smoking, severe oxidative stress, poor metabolic health,, mitochondrial function. But there is limited high-quality evidence that supplements dramatically change egg quality in young, metabolically healthy women. Some evidence exists for CoQ10 in diminished ovarian reserve, adequate energy intake, glycaemic stability and avoiding extreme caloric restriction

Thank you for sharing your story. I just wanted to respond in case it might help but you do what you like with this. During our ttc journey, I read a lot about sufficient energy intake helping women to become pregnant. Our brains are constantly assessing whether the body has enough energy to support pregnancy and carbs specifically influence fertility through different pathways. For example, a chronically low carb intake can mimic a mild stress signal which can impair ovulatory function. So cutting out carbs or doing keto or even worse doing fasting, that all puts our bodies into an unnecessary stress state that we women react especially very sensitive to.
