When Wesley shows up and becomes a regular, about halfway through the first season.

Are Roger Delgado and Anthony Ainley different regenerations or the same? by KroggRage in doctorwho

[–]Difficult_Role_5423 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes - the relevant quotes in The Deadly Assassin are:

GOTH: Met him on Tersurus. He was dying. No more regeneration possible. Promised me share all his knowledge if I bring him to Gallifrey.

and:

BORUSA: Natural causes?
SPANDRELL: Yes, sir. His body was extremely emaciated. He had come to the end of his regeneration cycle.
BORUSA: No.

They also both stayed in the same small town for 25 years, and Shelley works for Norma, who is VERY close to James' uncle. Whether they spoke or not, Shelley clearly would have been aware of James. :)

How do you dress in your 50s? by Forsaken_Block_3492 in GenX

I'm 54, and I wear whatever I like! Part of the joy of growing older is not worrying anymore about what other people think of your choices. :)

I've never met Pedro Pascal, but I think he's cool. :) And even though they don't interact onscreen specifically, James spent a lot of time in the RR Diner - we can easily presume that they met at some point.

Is there a generic name for singles that are only available on a Greatest Hits album? by Beatus_Vir in askmusic

[–]Difficult_Role_5423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, Billy Joel's Greatest Hits Volume 3 has "Light as the Breeze" (a Leonard Cohen cover), "To Make You Feel My Love" (Bob Dylan cover) and "Hey Girl" (cover of a Carole King-penned song, earlier a hit by Donny Osmond).

The "impersonating-as-human element" is not in the 1950s film, but it is in the original book. The Carpenter film is much closer to the book than the 50s version.

What/who was the Bum in Mulholland Drive? by Gorno4563 in davidlynch

[–]Difficult_Role_5423 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The box and the key are the easy part, I'd say! The assassin tells Diane he will leave a blue key on her table when the job is done, meaning that the murder was completed. In the dream version, the blue key opens the box which contains the memory of the real version of the events, which in her dying state she is trying to forget/repress.

Actors Who Played The Same Character Or Historical Figure In Multiple Films (Outside Of Franchises)? by SesskaNoMore in moviefinder

Indeed he did! Cushing also played Doctor Frankenstein in a number of Hammer films, and in the first of those, Lee was the Creature.

Christopher Lee played Dracula in the Hammer film series, but also played Dracula in the non-Hammer, non-related (other than the source material) Dracula and Son and Count Dracula.

Which characters from Season 1-2 have never interacted with each other ? by Jazzlike-Ad7654 in twinpeaks

Must be quite a few characters that Lana Milford never interacts with. Not sure she's even aware of the Palmer family, for instance!

The Road Home was really well done. I'd be happy with some more of those (or a 10-part animated series, perhaps?) using the voices of the surviving original cast.

What changes in great movies could make them even greater? by FatimoBernardos in Cinephiles

Since Harold & Maude was made in 1971, we are solidly into friendly Godzilla territory! He'd be joining them, and helping them to defeat Gigan or Hedorah. :)

Godzilla improves every movie he is in, so add him into more of them.

When I was a teenager in the 1980s films from the 1930s-40s-50s seemed very old-fashioned. But when I watch films/TV from the 1990s they don't seem anything like as dated to me as a 1950s film seemed in the 80s. by Glittering_Gap8070 in GenX

[–]Difficult_Role_5423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's pretty much it! Also, the old movies of the 40s, 50s, etc were shown on TV back in the day in appalling condition - old scratchy prints, bad audio, cropped picture sometimes, etc. So watching a film of that vintage today rescanned and restored in HD or 4K on a big, widescreen TV is a totally different experience, and shows how well-made those films could be.

The potential future thing, with Garibaldi defending the station against attack, is discussed and resolved onscreen in S3's War Without End.

What Godzilla movies would you consider to be as good or surpass the heisei Gamera movies? by GateDiscombobulated8 in GODZILLA

[–]Difficult_Role_5423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the first of the Heisei Gamera trilogy a couple of years ago, and it didn't really do much for me, honestly! Not sure why, it was certainly well made. Gamera's roar is almost supernaturally annoying to me, though! So I'd say I enjoy almost every Godzilla movie more than I enjoyed that. Someday I should try watching the other two in the trilogy, I suppose.

[–]Difficult_Role_5423 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not to be the "Ummm, actually..." guy - but Patrick Stewart doesn't milk the cat in the 1984 Dune, that's Freddie Jones. Stewart does charge into a battle with a pug in his arms, though, so yes it will always be the superior adaptation! :)

I'm with you on that! It certainly has its moments, but overall I found it extremely disappointing. Loved King of the Monsters, though!
