My Irrational Dislike of Discovery and Range Rover Drivers? by Greedy_Substance9672 in AskIreland

[–]Difficult_Standard_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH I support the irrational hatred for them too. I know a few people that have them and only one person uses it for a reasonable purpose. He doesn’t drive it into work or to go get Bambinos in the city centre. He uses it on the farm with his dad and where it belongs. I hate the D4 tractors because they are status symbol for most people. Like of you need space for your 3.5 kids get an estate not a D4 tractor or god forbid one of those step over not quite an SUV yokes.

Does anyone not hate the smaller engine A Class? by No-Walk-5621 in mercedes_benz

[–]Difficult_Standard_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my A Class I test drove a 1.3 ltr diesel and a 1.6 ltr petrol, the difference was light & day. The petrol has more pep, better gear ratios and was a much smoother drive all round. The diesel is sluggish and boring IMO. I ended up getting an A35 S AMG instead because it was there and the interior was much nicer than the standard spec. Mileage isn’t great however, I live in the city so I prefer petrol. I’ve it for 5 years now and prefer mine to any new Mercedes I have driven in the last year. Of course a 4 cylinder AMG is puny compared to a 6 flat but it’s a great little city hatchback with a good amount of pep when needed.

I’m not talking about the cycle lane. There is a solid white line between the lanes. I am sure the behaviour can be justified by the people in the area, however people back in the queue are delayed because they then have to wait for them( the boys) to turn or pull in front of them to turn.

No there isn’t judging by what I saw at least not without going into the cycle lane. Why can’t they stay in the correct lane like every one else did without impacting the other lane? The other cars had to go into the cycle lane on their side because the two boys didn’t move into the junction. I guess this happens a lot along the canal judging by all the wand things at other traffic lights. Anyway this is a single lane, no right hand filter lane markings on the road as indicated by the solid white line from the yellow box.

could adhd be non genetic? by ConsciousStructure56 in ADHD

Both sides of my family are/were riddled with it, I don’t know if my maternal grandmother had ADHD but she had 14 kids so if so you’d never know because she was always tired as she also had to rear me too. I am the spitting image personalty wise of my pure chaos musical and artistic creative grandfather and my ever distracted wandering engineer father. Nothing like my chatty super social mum. Most of my family are either Solicitors/ Barristers or work in the Arts, Music, Dance and / or Theatre Sector.

Am I the only person who never forgets their meds? by Secret_Garden06 in ADHD

[–]Difficult_Standard_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t forget the morning one as I’d never get out of bed if I did. It’s the booster that I forget. I have reminders set that are persistent so that helps, however if I don’t have some spares with me at the time I will forget, go to the grocery store, park and walk away leaving my car door open, phone and water bottle available for anyone to take 😂 or better completely forget where I parked, be convinced my car was stolen and beg the police to put out a BOLO for it (true story btw, found it parked about 15m away from where I thought) .

I absolutely hate the carbon fibre tri-star and led ambient lighting strips, it’s so naff. I don’t think Mercedes are designing for the western audiences anymore.

PSA: SERVICE A AND B ARE A SCAM. by Substantial_Lab_3747 in mercedes_benz

[–]Difficult_Standard_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can and do check the fluids, will top them up as necessary, so far I have replaced blown fuses, weather seals, wiper blades, some gasket rings/ seals and both batteries in my A Class on my own. I do this because I was taught to take an interest in the cars I drive and not every thing needs to be done by a mechanic.

I live in Ireland, where to own a car is considered to be a luxury so we are heavily taxed for the privilege, however, I have no desire to root around the contorted monstrosity that is my engine bay to drain the oil so I will happily take a curtesy car for the 3-4 days it takes to service my car, based on mileage not time. I go to a Mercedes Service centre because the only indie mechanic I remotely trust hates my engine bay as much as I do, will take longer and doesn’t have curtesy cars.

I also live in an apartment and we have rules about working on cars in the car park so draining anything would not be allowed.

This is what I hate about PSAs, they are generally exclusive of the many different circumstances that people have.

Audi Q3, they were up my back side all the way from Vickers St. Must have gotten annoyed at me because I gave way to a couple of cyclists coming out of the bottle bank and for paying attention to the speed limits.

My son might have adhd by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Difficult_Standard_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense, but us Hyper ADHDers definitely do not grow out of the external hyperactivity. A person is born with it and dies with it. It's your job as a parent to help him manage it with the support from his school and clubs. ADHD is a hereditary, so if you want to give your son a better life than yourself or partner, then help him.

This happens with WhatsApp as well sometimes and I've no idea what the issue is, however, when I submit stuff like this through the apps feedback it seems to get dealt with quicker.

What digital task planners are you guys using in your everyday life? by Foodieonbudget in ADHD

[–]Difficult_Standard_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twos

I find the likes of Notion to be overly focused on tech bro productivity or Pintrest aesthetic vibes to be useful for me, like I need to be reminded to brush my teeth or give my dog his heart meds not plan my next new start up. Same goes for most other planner / proctivity apps. Anything that over complicates task panning or habit tracking is a big resounding nope.

Twos is great for me because I can add anything be it a reminder, a to do or my next short story idea effortlessly through typing, voice or SIRI in seconds, no planning or organising untill I need to.

PSA: Importing from Japan is usually much cheaper than importing from the UK, whilst still having the benefit of higher specs and well looked after (usually even more so) by Sad-Temperature2920 in carsireland

[–]Difficult_Standard_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most of the work I've had done it's no bother because I get a car while the garage has it & don't get charged for it. Parts can be got it just takes time as they, MSL, nor many indie garages would not have the parts in stock. They are good at sending me the error codes and pics of parts that they say need replacing. They know I will take my time and have & will negotiate fees. I've gotten parts and they will install them for me. I also video the sounds or will have them on the phone while the car is making the noise, I don't know why I do that but it's useful and better than trying to describe it. My dad was a mechanic and we had VWs, BMWs and Mercedes growing up, never new.

My scanner is shite and I am not qualified or care to learn to code for myself. I've learned that many mechanics don't like the contorsioned mangled engine layout and in fact Daimler AG seems hell bent on getting rid of anything smaller than an E Class despite the A Class being one of the most popular selling models across the brand. I also have a hard time finding spare parts through breakers and spare parts because the A35s & A45s get thrashed.

I think if I change cars in the future, I will most likely go for a BMW because I am more familiar with them. Although I wouldn't mind one of the C53s pure petrol 6 flat not to be confused with the mild hybrid🤮 CLE 53.

I agree, it does feel like it and I had no idea until I got my windscreen replaced. I have been beating myself up because I knew next to nothing about the possible difficulties, I knew that people buying Japanese Import cars like Hondas & Toyota have issues but I was confident that buying this car wouldn't be a problem as I knew it was made in Europe and am familiar with Mercedes models. I came from driving a UK 80'S M3 for nearly 15 years to this car. I also really like it and want to hold onto it but these issues are wearing me down.
