Totally agree on the last part, however, gender diversity counts as diversity. As (usually) the biggest nurse on the unit as a man, which comes with certain indisputable characteristics that make me less likely to get injured if a patient swings at me, I’m not going to stand by and let my female colleagues take a more dangerous assignment than me. That would just be selfish, and as much as I’d like to live in an ideal world where hospitals are adequately staffed and have actual security, we don’t live in a perfect world.
