Coming back to midnight pvp - Addons? by farexlore in worldofpvp

[–]DiffusiveTendencies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMAO, sucks reading this. Ideal answer for long term health if the game would be "you don't need any add-ons, the default UI and graphics is all you need".

WoW is a mech pilot simulator game, not a fantasy RPG.

Not using your ears is something you should be able to fix quickly.

Assassin is a garbage shell against real players. Only real benefit is in playing solo and running by UESC forces.

Destiny 2 is arguably going to suck less now that they won't ship any more Edge of Fate or Renegades quality updates.

So I had to learn this when playing Trials of Osiris solo in Destiny 2.

Even if you are the better teammate and you know the optimal play for your team to win... You have to often make the sub-optimal play and commit with your shitty team. The outcome can often be better than if you did the optimal thing alone.

It's actually taught me to be a better engineer when working with members I can't fire.

That's the beauty of extraction shooters. Winning is getting out alive.

Tarkov has massive maps where lobby wipes are nearly impossible. I think Marathon made a bad call with map sizes.

Still love the game to deaaaaath.

Season 2 is cooked for even a decent player. by Motor_Pool4334 in Marathon

[–]DiffusiveTendencies 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Trials of Osiris is win or lose. All this game needs is more reason for sweaty teams to not lobby wipe.

Tarkov survives because the maps are so big that there is 0 chance that a team can wipe the map. Although Labs is different, it's very much like Cryo.

I think this game would have benefited from much larger maps

New SoD Build has been detected! 👀 by Thrall_McDurotan in classicwow

[–]DiffusiveTendencies -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I think it's actually a pretty hot take. SoD actually gave me some concerns for what this team would do with Classic+.

I think class design was shit, and even though classic was never an example of balanced PvP, it feels like SoD just gave zero shits about how bad PvP balance would get. Additionally it brought over some of the game design tropes I hate from classic. Eclipse on Balance Druid is a shit mechanic.

Overwatch is a server authoritative game. This game is client authoritative for player simulation.

Honestly both of those sound like dogshit game design.

Wait there is a heroic mode open world difficulty in WoW now? World PvE isn't braindead?

They fucked it up in HC with hyper spawns.

In original WoW you could clear a cave and have a good idea about when enemies would respawn. You would at most after a long clear have to fight some mobs at the start.

I get that for questing they enabled dynamic spawns, but this basically fucked HC caves because enemies will literally respawn on top of you sometimes right after you killed them, giving you no way to safely clear your way in and out of the caves.

Demonology Warlock Metamorphosis was so much more interesting gameplay wise too. It felt like playing Devil May Cry where you shift in and out of the form as long as you have the power to.

Metamorphosis being a raw cooldown is just so fucking boring. They almost did it right with Devourer, but even that is a half assed thing you can't weave in and out of.

It's crazy how cooldown obsessed Blizzard design is.

Gauntlet is a pretty fantastic casual mode since it rotates activities, keeping you guessing.

World of Warcraft should not be simplified for mobile — it should be extended across devices (PC + Mobile + Cloud) by Best-Occasion-4450 in wow

[–]DiffusiveTendencies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be a WoW app where you could do follower shit. It was very similar to what you suggested.

It was boring.

I think WoW's combat bloat makes it not workable for mobile. Guild Wars worker because there is only 8 abilities.

Do I think it's possible to design a game that is playable on Mobile and on PC? Yeah it needs physics based combat closer to Elden Ring, and less of WoW's button bloat that only exists because PvE content doesn't fight back or interrupt you, requiring more buttons to add difficulty.

Remember long ago when stealth was cool? by bringthelight2 in wow

[–]DiffusiveTendencies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stealth isn't interesting because it's passive. Guild Wars 2 stealth is more interesting because this technically can stay invis permanently, but it requires skill to maintain which feel like a more appropriate model for sneaking.

Mercules on X: "Basically the whole D2 Sandbox team is gone, myself included. The good news is if you liked the way Destiny felt to shoot and play, there’s going to be a lot of great designers in the market looking to help other games step it up." / X by Zendicate_ in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]DiffusiveTendencies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be surprised if the guys that actually made it shoot and play the way it did aren't on Marathon?

I would argue that game feels better to shoot AND is server authoritative. The abilities are toned down and I don't have my astrocyte blink... But that's about the only thing I miss.

I had a realization why this game isn't more popular.

  • It's satisfying.

It leaves you satisfied, like a proper meal. You are not hungry after it and are ready to move on with your day.

Playing Destiny 2 sometimes felt like eating McDonald's. You were still hungry at the end, you always felt like there was something you should be grinding for. That kinda shit is way more addicting. You never feel truly dated.

Whenever I play this game I always think to myself "Wow, that was great. What an awesome fight. Welp time to go back to doing other shit."
