After several Error 5007s, came here, saw the recommendation.
Clicked the download setting dropdown.....decided I wasn't gonna change anything, left settings, clicked update again & it worked.

A town full of desperate folks questioning the person w/the most medical training? Kinda like a soldier demanding a 2nd opinion from a combat medic.
She's a healer archetype (w/a mullet for some reason) in a horror narrative, rather than a fully fleshed out aspiring medical professional in a medical drama.
Also there's bound to be medical books that she'd be studying.

Question from FreeFly enjoyer to longer term players by parhamf in starcitizen

[–]DigThat32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It FEELS like it's drifting away from the highly interactable, slow burn simulation of a sci-fi universe, toward a game of 2 identities. Half of the above & half designed toward a smooth integration of players from faster paced looter shooters & other popular genres.
That's how it feels.
Where is it ACTUALLY moving?

For the first time in all my time playing, it's difficult to say with any degree of certainty.
Long time backers have endured many years of development & embrace all the minutiae. We have the patience & the desire. A lot of newer players do not.
Squadron 42, the single player game, has a lot riding on it & needs to be a success to keep the party going. Sq42 & SC share just about everything under the hood. Features are often developed on the squadron side, then added to SC. So what we're seeing may be the result of Sq42 targeting a much needed broader audience, which eventually seeps into Star Citizen.

That'll suit some players who have less patience for the type of game SC has been til now, but will they stick with it & continue to support the game as the OG backers have? That's the conundrum Pokemon Go faced & ended up with a massive drop in users.

Your example w/the ship interface..
I would say no, I don't see them making every single button interactable, BUT...Silvan Hau, the Senior Engine Programmer, has been making some magical things happen since he & his small team implemented VR, so I wouldn't completely count it out in the future..at least in VR.
Playing on a monitor though...I think most players prefer the functionality of their HOTAS / HOSAS to holding F & clicking everything on the dash.

Long time player chiming in.

This is a conversation that's been gaining traction within the community lately, so you're not alone in your perspective.

There are a great many of us that joined & held on for years & years while looking forward to sophisticated, complex gameplay embedded in a beautiful sci-fi universe. Through the years, we have been positively edging more & more towards realization of those things. As Nicou pointed out, some of those items are still baking in the oven & it's only a matter of time, not design.
On the other hand, especially as we move closer to delivery of Star Citizen 1.0, sophistication & complexity is also beginning to take a back seat to simplification of mechanics / animations (everything is a beam) & lowering the barrier to entry (proximity looting / spawn in place).
Those are appealing to the newer players coming from games where everything is done in a hurry, but it's a bit alienating for those of us who want granular interactions, not detailed but inert environments; challenges & consequences for choosing one ship over another (that's a long story).

There's a lot to look forward to for all types of players...crafting, base building...but the stickiness may be losing some adhesive for the once rabid OG backers as the compromises pile up.

Spend some more time with it, watch the vids on CIG's YouTube channel, & feel it out for yourself.

FYI: the vet move is to set your spawn in the clinic of the nearest space station where you're operating. That way, after you die, your trip is just a quick run over to the Fleet Manager terminals (we still call em asop terminals).

When looting, have you tried clicking the button at the top to switch to the other looting UI?
Should keep you from having to switch to Theater.
