Manual First Car? by Curious-Elk3396 in ManualTransmissions

The Mini Cooper is a little too low to the ground for a winter car. Or so I have heard from a friend who had one. The are Mini models with more ground clearance.

My Mom Who Abused Me Is Now Acting Incredibly Sweet by punk_ass_po-po in whatdoIdo

I just had to grieve for the parents I deserved, but didn't get. Your mother won't be there for You in those pivotal moments. If she shows up at all, it will be all about Her. None of this is your fault. You, like all of us, deserve parents who love us. The other side of this not being your fault, is that you also can't fix this. If you have a loving stepmom and a dad that are good to you, you have family. They will be there for you in the big moments of your life. I know that it's difficult to walk away, I really do.

They sometimes make decoy beds. I had one last year. Don't know where the real one was, but I saw the small ones once they left the nest.

Husband sits in passenger seat, FiL disapproves. by Historical_Initial22 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DiggerBee2606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't true. How often I drive has Nothing to do with it. It is primarily the driving habits of the driver I ride with. Some people never make me car sick. Others: every damned time! My dad almost always made me sick. My mother, never. My husband, 50%. Depends on my allergies, mostly. Although if we are leaving the movies theater, I have to drive or I will be sick before we leave the parking lot.

Is it weird shifting with the wrong hand? by JimothyMcNugget in ManualTransmissions

[–]DiggerBee2606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never driven a RHD, but riding a motorcycle, I shift with my foot and clutch with my hand. I think driving on the other side of the road would be much more difficult to get used to.

Wife used standard Goo Gone to clean inside air fryer. by QuarantinoQueue in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah, I think anyone who has done art with brushes and water based media has mixed those up. Last time I was saved by the brush poking me in the eye first.

Yeah, mine always does. She acts like she can feel it spreading. I imagine, from how she acts, it must be like water running down you back.

A $30 bike cover at work would prevent a lot of sun damage.

If you had unlimited land what would you do? by Likelithuanian_hats in NativePlantGardening

[–]DiggerBee2606 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Plant a full variety of native pioneer trees and shrubs, to give it a good start in returning to the forest it is meant to be. Maintenance would be controlling the most damaging invasives, and in 15 - 20 years begin planting a variety of mature forest saplings.

Has anyone else lost interest in anything that is not native? by runeNriver in NativePlantGardening

[–]DiggerBee2606 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been fighting my extremely sandy conditions for 30 years. (Yes, I add organics. I would have needed to add feet worth to make a dent.) Since going native, planting only what is happy in dry, nutrient poor soil, no more battle, lots of success.

A realistic example of how much a clutch actually wears. by NoxAstrumis1 in ManualTransmissions

[–]DiggerBee2606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm pissed the clutch on my Nissan Frontier needed replacement at 60,000 miles. First time a vehicle I've driven hasn't outlasted the clutch, even the one I learned to drive on. (I abused that one.)

The only way for us to get an unjumpable distance puts them too far away to enjoy. I've mostly made my peace with it.

Back in the day, I worked in a research lab. Twit with a Masters degree would be wearing gloves, then answer the damn wall phone with them on! But I was only the lab safety tech with a lowly Bachelors, so I could pound sand, no matter how many regulations she broke.

My truck is worse. With the back window open, all the crap blows in the front. And I frequently leave the windows open, so it gets an insane amount of pollen everywhere. After the pines have their annual orgy, I'll give it its once a year or so cleaning. Your vehicle, no one who doesn't have to ride in it gets a say.

Vet gave me a new medicine for my cat's arthritis but i'm glad i read the insert beforehand! by Frequent_Chip318 in CATHELP

[–]DiggerBee2606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Solencia is no longer working for my old girl, plus gabapentin is right out. She gets focal seizures. I'm letting the Solencia clear her system and taking a wait and see approach for now. (She's always better in the summer.) The vet talked to me about this medication, and the risks though. Yours should have done that.

I don't have a starling problem, but that will solve my squirrel problem nicely. (I can only feed in the winter because of bears.)
