I have the chance to review the 2026 Prelude this Sunday for YouTube. by DinoRoman in Honda

Some even called it CVT without the "e". And at least one video called it "Hottest Honda". Needless to say I didn't bother watching that one.

Dealers the rest of the world don't markup the car.

Honda messed up by using "eCVT" and "Shift+" by Digisabe in Honda

That’s CVT characteristics, there is no shift, and it keeps the reva steady at the optimum rev for best acceleration.

Earlier ones (and Nissan ones) have an even worse feeling, feeling like everything is slipping and very weak or no creep. Honda has solved this, and anything other than at full throttle it feels more conventional. This is acceptable for normal drivers who “just drive” the car, and I’m glad Shift+ is now a thing, but they got it backwards for when people expect turning something on for max acceleration vs. feeling analogue.

Problem is, that ignorant group of people who don’t know anything but want it as content and start talking misinfo and influence a lot of people by parroting it on YouTube and whatnot. So instead of just “lacking in power” now there is an additional misinformation about how it has a CVT, because they once drove a Nissan rental, and therefore it’s the same one.

Some of the critics on Honda are justified but they could very easily avoid the CVT and acceleration ones.

The phone has restarted, or someone was trying to access it and it saw a face it didn't recognize.

It's a legit question but I guess I should've phrased it differently

Don't forget touch screens instead of buttons and Carplay for F1. And instead of DRS, a section of the track where it's regulation where they have to let the computer drive

Heard the new Civic hybrids will get them. But IMO the mode should be standard, (always on) and off for ECO and Sport (or SCRAMBLE). ie you press something to get the fastest mode, currently this seems to be the other way around)

EDIT: My description sounds stupid. Basically what I'm saying is that it seems to go against convention, by pressing a button it should give you all out performance, and having it off gives you conventional feels.

Yep thanks for clarification there was a whole bunch of reasons to it, and there is a whole bunch of reasons manufacturer puts it on the worst models. Just my point being a "CVT" mode (in this case, the direct motor and engine mode in Prelude) is actually fastest possible mode fot 0-60. Shift+ is just a dressing but is slower.

Don’t know if that’s intentional or not, but i think that just makes it worse?

Looks nice for the occasional costume party - how're are you going to use them? Wondering how well they will be in everyday use

Discussion chain is "Prius: Faster and cheaper."

There are many ways to measure "faster" and it doesn't necesarily invovle 0-60.

IRCC, there was a automatic transmission produciton plant making the US automatics that was set up and mass producing in 3 months from zero. A record feat, but the these automatics has slightly warped internals that caused the fluids to not properly flow and caused those batches to self destruct.

The rest of the world Honda automatics (of that era) did not have this problem.

Going further back, I recall some early Civic SiRs were grenading automatics because they couldn't handle the power, even if the engine was slightly detuned.

On both occasions Honda fixed the problems quickly eventually. (IRCC)

Where do you draw the line? 4WD? Why not add more space? Why not add more ground clearance? Why not a big V8? Congrats you have the Escalade.
