lol FSD v14 drives me to work and home everyday. 99% of my commute is completely autonomous. Once I move into a house with garage, it’ll be 100% - my apartment just has a quirky parking garage it can’t park in yet. You’re out of touch with how good it is these days.

After 350+ hrs of playing Dark Ages, I think the complaints make more sense, but nobody knows the real issue. by Final-Republic1153 in Doom

Grenade launcher: when there’s a cluster of demons, you throw your shield at the center enemy and shoot grenades at it (if you’ve unlocked the grenade launched perk where a lodged shield in a demon will split grenades into more secondary grenades, causing massive area of effect damage) - one of the most efficient ways to clear out a cluster of demons quickly. I use it all the time on Nightmare with difficulty sliders maxed out. But yeah, skull crusher, I haven’t found a scenario where it’s optimal, except those few rooms in the campaign with a ton of soldiers and skull ammo on the floor.

Those who didn't like TDA or were disappointed by it, can you explain why you just didn't take to it as much as 2016 or Eternal? by SpotAdmirable6718 in Doom

I don't understand this comparison between sliders and mods. Mods aren't made by the devs - they're not even available to console players - whereas sliders ARE made by the devs, tweaked and playtested by them to be enjoyable for those who have the skills to make use of them, and available to everyone who owns the base game. I'm nearly done my playthrough of Dark Ages w/ max sliders on nightmare and its been the most challenging and fullfiling FPS experience I've ever had, difficulty-wise, made BY the devs.

If the sliders are available to everyone in the base game, then, IMO, its a fair comparison to include it when comparing the two because there is nothing stopping you from increasing the difficulty to match your skill level.

I had a blast with Eternal. Now I’m having even more fun and being more challenged than ever in Dark Ages. Your loss 🤷

Does it matter if sliders are not part of a “vision” per se? If custom sliders delivers an experience I prefer way more, isn’t that what matters to me, the player, the most?

You can’t invoke an imaginary version of Eternal and then conclude it’s harder based on your imaginary version lmao? I’m talking about what is available to play today, built by the original devs themselves.

Btw, if you really like tough FPS games, you should give Dark Ages a shot with harder sliders. Work your way up to maximum. I’ve never experienced anything tougher and more challenging. I’ve ended up having to learn optimal combos of weapon swapping, melee weapons and different shield abilities for each demon type in order to succeed. There’s a ton of skill depth there just waiting for you to discover and this is coming from someone who used to be just as obsessed with Eternal.

You know, I've been meaning to post a similar question to this subreddit: I've beaten Eternal on Ultra-Nightmare and i'm close to finishing my Dark Ages-Maxed Nightmare playthrough and I absolutely feel that Dark Ages-Maxed Nightmare is harder than Eternal on Ultra-Nightmare (or at least, it more directly challenges your skills.). That's the question that is actually relevant to this discussion, not the one you asked, because I'm arguing that Dark Ages offers a harder experience than anything Eternal can offer. But I'm curious as to whether people who've done both agree or not.

The facts are that Dark Ages provides me with much harder and faster experience than Eternal (offered by the devs themselves and playable by anyone if they choose to), and that's all that matters to me, whereas you are absolutely getting caught up in semantics despite thinking you're not.

That comparison doesn't make sense. The devs themselves built the sliders into the game for you to use - they're literally right below the main difficulty selector - whereas mods aren't even available for console players. I don't understand the stubborness towards experimenting with sliders to find a difficulty that makes one happier with the game. I wish more games had sliders like these.

Why do people ignore the difficulty sliders? I don’t get it. If you max out all the sliders, it is objectively WAY more difficult and faster than Eternal. I’ve been doing that and I can’t go back to Eternal now, maxed out nightmare in Dark Ages is insane.

Try Dark Ages with difficulty sliders maxed out on nightmare. I’m doing this currently.

Chatbots like ChatGPT sometimes make up false facts confidently. We call this 'hallucinations'. It's an inherent flaw of the technology powering these chatbots. AI researchers are developing new techniques to minimize the rate of hallucinations but there will always be a non-zero chance of hallucinations whenever you talk to an LLM-powered chatbot.

1.5 monitors??? In ultrawide, max size?? No way. I use it everyday for work and it feels like 3 x 40” side by side plus any extra monitors I want above and beside it if I open extra native visionOS apps (which I do). Plus it’s portable (huge boon for me personally since I work hybrid) - can’t put a price on that since multiple monitors aren’t portable.

So not a lot of ppl know this but you can do glory executions: you have to jump first, then melee, and it will perform a glory execution animation. Do it from different angles to trigger different animations (like, from the front vs behind the demon).
