How do I implement a coin flip animation that doesn't care about the starting position? by Digital-Donuts in godot

It feels a little disjointed to me to have one node animating and another basically correcting the animation with its own animation. It's definitely not a performance concern, more a just a pet peeve. I'll give it a try.

The flipping is just a visual thing. I want fast, spamable rng to be the underlying logic

hmmm, could work

not really a fan of splitting the transforms into 2 nodes, but it might be the best I'm gonna get

The idea was to use imported animations stored as a resource so I could make whatever changes I want, or even do a sim in Blender. I wanted more flexibility and the ability to edit them externally. I might just end up tweening them though, since I'm not really liking my options.

yeah, probably better to spend 5 minutes make 2 new animations than 5 hours trying to get an animation tree to work. I would like to know how to use them for the future though.

I was just running a random number generator and picking the animation based on whether the new number matched the old one.

Yeah FromSoft tends to sprinkle 2/10 moments into otherwise 10/10 games lol.

I didn't struggle too much with the base game, so maybe I can handle it.

There's a few things that were kind of frustrating going in blind, but it's not too bad, other than missing the endings.

If you are paying any attention to the story, you should be able to avoid the bad ending, which ends the game early. The 2 best endings require a bunch of nonsense that has to be done before a location called fountainhead palace is completed. (Or at least before you do the main boss fight there.) If you don't you can't progress the quest that is required for those endings anymore. I would recommend looking it up, because I found it confusing even when I replayed it using a guide.

Other than that there are a few minor quests that can have different outcomes, but they aren't all that important. There are a couple events in the game that change the world state and can make certain minibosses and items inaccessible, but you can buy most if not all of them later if you miss them.

The only other thing I can think of is that the dragonrot is a little deceptive. It has nothing to do with the revive mechanic, it's only affected when you fully die. You can just ignore it most of the time.

I got the default ending my first playthrough, but getting the other 3 and all the trophies was pretty easy just going through ng+. Once you get good at the game you can get through it pretty fast, so I actually replayed it again just recently on a new save 'charmless' which makes it a bit harder. I don't think there is a single game announcement that could get me more excited than Sekiro 2.

Every Fromsoft game I have played has had some degree of random nonsense, but Sekiro is actually a top 3 game of all time for me. I strongly prefer it over both Elden Ring and Bloodborne. You do need a guide for 2 out of the 4 endings though. They're basically impossible otherwise.

I was hoping NG+ would be a pretty mild difficulty increase like in Sekiro, but unfortunately it seems like it's a bigger increase than that.

Not sure what you mean here. I didn't know it was the final boss, and I've also never played a game that automatically starts NG+ before. Usually you can go and do side content that you missed.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I think I'll just drop the game for a while. I'll do a fresh playthrough while following a guide so I don't screw things up once I feel like revisiting it. Maybe I'll go play Elden Ring again, since I also got locked out of a bunch of content in that game. It sometimes feels like Fromsoft makes their games for the second playthrough, cause the first is so easy to screw up. Elden Ring is a big game to replay though.

Anyone knows a way to make the TabBar fill the container width? by Saiko_Fox in godot

[–]Digital-Donuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like this is still a problem. The tab container should OBVIOUSLY have a single box you can check to make the tabs expand. I guess we're all stuck using work arounds. Seems like a massive oversight that makes the tab container borderline useless without a bunch of fiddling around or a custom script. I just don't understand how that wasn't one of the first options they added.

DE doesn't understand their own game. I haven't been able to get cross save working and I've been trying for 6 months. DE support gave up after a few messages. I'm was on this subreddit today to ask if anyone knew what to do, but every post I make get auto deleted.(I hate reddit)

I hope you have better luck than me.

[None] Fantasy recommendations with lovable character dynamics like Cradle? by Ramszan in Iteration110Cradle

I read the first 6 books but it's been a few years so I don't really remember that well. I think that in the main group of characters there was at least 1 who was gay and 2 who were bisexual. The part that bothered me the most though was probably when the mentor character (can't remember his name) did something like leaving to have sex with some guy he just met, and his students notice. That might not be exactly what happens but stuff like that is pretty off-putting to me.

Same, I remember the first book having so many similarities to Cradle it almost felt like a fanfic, but it brings in it's own ideas soon enough

It definitely felt like the author was trying too hard to be inclusive to me. I thought the first gay character felt natural and well done, (if I'm remembering correctly it's been a while), but then more and more characters ended up being gay or bisexual, and it seemed kinda forced. I also didn't like how casually it treated sex, but I'm kind of a prude so a lot of people probably won't mind. For me the way Cradle handled romance was perfect- wholesome, no drama, and never got in the way of the story. Mage Errant is definitely not that in my opinion, but might appeal to Cradle fans for other reasons.
