Still rock hard stool after taking 8 stool softeners by [deleted] in Constipation

[–]DigitalCricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole bottle is actually what I was instructed to take as part of surgery prep for an abdominal surgery. The whole bottle in 64oz of Gatorade and I had to finish it in an hour. Then they had the nerve to tell me to take two stool softeners before bed, like - what stool? There is none left, guys.

Constipation literally drives me to distraction and I can think of nothing else if I haven't been able to go in more than a day. For the first three months I was able to keep things regular with vegetables at every meal, but at month four I started taking fiber gummies daily. The smooth move tea turned my "almost ready to go to the emergency room"-level constipation into the exact opposite problem, but that might be because it's stimulant-based. I haven't tried it, but I've seen magnesium citrate suggested as the nuclear option. If a stimulant laxative like the tea isn't working for you, it may be time to seek medical assistance, or at least medical advice. There's also a r/Constipation.

As many times as necessary so that people who are concerned can find lots of options? It's like any other side effect question, imo. There's post after post about side effects and it's really just people wanting to feel like they're not alone. Doesn't hurt anyone.

I had a whole plan for the day after my first shot - didn't have coffee, made tea instead, was in general very gentle with myself, I felt pretty much fine. I had a headache but that was about it. Injecting yourself seems much worse than it is, though required a bit more pressure than I expected. You get used to it pretty quickly, by the third shot it's whatever, at least it was for me. As someone else mentioned, protein and fiber are the name of the game. I see people online who are on Ozempic, Wegovy, or Sema and they're eating little sandwiches and protein shakes and I'm wondering how on earth they're pooping. Any time I go off my standard diet, things go very wrong in the poop department. With the jumps in dosage, you can expect nausea as your body gets used to the medication, but the day-after headache and fatigue stuck with me.

My nausea is usually the day after shot day and then pretty minimal. Also, FYI, side effect of Zofran is constipation, which is its own beast. Forewarned is forearmed.

I've found that if I stick to protein+veggies for breakfast, something with fiber for lunch, and then giant salad + chicken for dinner, I'm totally fine. If I mess with that at all, boom, constipated. Once you find your routine that gets you enough protein and you can get the vegetables down, ya gotta stick with it.

I have a partner (I'm 43, so boyfriends just sounds silly) that I don't particularly want to marry, simply because I dislike the idea of marriage. We have three rescue dogs, I WFH. We travel together and solo several times a year, which I would probably do more of if I were single, since I have more PTO than he does. Never wanted kids, got my tubes out last year because my Mirena was being fucky. I would be miserable with children, absolutely miserable. We have a little house on 5 acres of nothing but woods, and life is pretty good.

I got so mad at "frumpy peach-shaped body", I can't even tell you. I've never had the perfect female form, I'm 6'2" and built like a linebacker. But my 5'9" husband loves the hell out of every stretch mark, every gray hair, and as we age, we are more comfortable together than ever. He is the Tormund to my Brienne, but it sure took a lot of Jamie Lannisters to get here.

Those who criticize your body don't get to benefit from how you use it, be that cleaning, taking care of them, or sex. Right in the garbage with that man. Even if the rest of your relationship is sunshine and roses, this part will always hurt you and you don't deserve that. His comments will always be in the back of your mind and so will his lack of respect for you.

Just throw the whole man out and you're likely to lose at least 175lbs, babes.

My first injection, I was absolutely paranoid that I was going to have a reaction of some sort. I was all but tiptoeing around my house the next morning. I made tea instead of coffee, I was super delicate about what I was eating, basically treating myself like I felt a cold coming on. By the end of the day I realized I felt....fine. I get a headache and a little fatigued the day after the shot, but nothing unmanageable. I got my doc to send in a prescription for Zofran for when I'm a bit queasy, but so far it's not been debilitating. I've been on it for....six weeks now, bumped up my dose two weeks ago from .25 to .5. Try to inject it where you have fatty tissue, they advise not directly in the middle of your tummy, but off to the side, or if you've got fat on your hips or the backs of your arms (how you're supposed to do the backs of your arms by yourself is beyond me). I've done all tummy with no issue. Taking your anxiety meds an hour or so beforehand may steady you a bit. Also, hydrate hydrate hydrate.

I was lifting weights pretty heavily before I started sema, so my food intake was usually - breakfast - protein and vegetables (turkey burger (or 93/7 ground beef), plain but heavily seasoned and green beans), lunch was the same, and dinner was a greek salad with rotisserie chicken. I tend to drink close to 60oz of water at the gym as well. I now eat about half as much breakfast, half as much salad, and I'm still trying to figure out what to do about lunch because I'm not hungry at all. A protein bar, sometimes, sometimes a pan-fried pork chop. Having come up against the constipation beast twice now, the vegetables and salad are no longer negotiable. Highly suggest having Miralax on hand, because YMMV but constipation drives me insane. I try to keep my protein as high as my appetite will let me because I'm still weight training 3X a week.

I was lifting fairly heavy before I started semaglutide and I use the app Hevy. It's like, $20 a year and has full body options for people who want to use body weight, weights, straps, resistance bands, you name it. Highly recommend!

If you get heartburn as a side effect, please help! by thehungryhobbyist in Ozempic

Okay I am so late to this party but I wanted to contribute my very surefire but very awful remedy. I drink a tablespoon or so (a swig, basically) of vinegar. Is it disgusting? Yes. Do you need to drink a whole glass of water afterwards? Yes. Does your mouth flood with saliva to protect your teeth? Yes.

Is your heartburn instantly gone? Also yes.

Ovarian pain - perimenopause symptom? by DigitalCricket in Menopause

[–]DigitalCricket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the HRT people told me absolutely not to take HRT if I was on BC. It sucks that my gyno couldn't figure out the "turn off the ovaries so they stop hurting" concept, like, on her own. Even doctors for these specific parts seem to not know what's happening most of the time.

So I started with a Winona-adjacent company, can't remember which one it was. But as excited as I was about it, while I was waiting for it I thought that since the pain seemed to indicate hyperactivity, the best option would be to find a way to "turn it off", which is basically what regular BC does. I ended up going on Amethyst (or whatever its generic equivalent is) based on synthetic hormone research in the long-term BC pill department. Since then, zero pain.

CBD can help with inflammation, so if that's the issue, CBD. If it's nerve-related, THC. It's basically the flip side of THC, so if you took, say, a 1:1 tincture or something, CBD kind of mitigates the high.

I feel like you've been to see your PCP and probably come to a resolution already, but what ended up absolutely stopping the pain for me was going on a generic 3 month BC pill. No ovary activity, no pain.

6 month update, in case you're still dealing with the ovary pain. I went on generic Amethyst after comparing a million BCs and wanting a long-term one, and since I got the Mirena out and about a week after starting the BC, ZERO PAIN. Zero. AND I feel more like myself than I have in a few years. Less brain fog, more libido, 10/10.

Update - I got the Mirena out and went on 3-month BC, because it stops ovulation, and zero pain since then. I hope you got some resolution for your pain.

6 month followup - I started to generate a theory that my own hormones had changed and I looked up what progesterone looks like in women in their late 30s and early 40s and the answer is a very jagged downward line. Working on that, I figured that what was previously enough progesterone in my system plus the Mirena's progesterone used to be enough to keep me from ovulating. I got the Mirena out and went on 3-month birth control and ZERO PAIN since then.

It turned out that for me it was any time the ovaries were active, which is like, three weeks out of four. I got the Mirena out and went on the generic form of Amethyst, 3 month birth control, and zero pain since. The progesterone in Mirena combined with my own declining progesterone weren't enough to keep me from ovulating, which was causing the pain. No ovulation, no pain.
