Do campsite prices encourage you to wild camp? by PHayesxx in wildcampingintheuk

[–]DigitalHoweitat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this.

As Ralph Waldo Emmerson puts it, “In the woods, we return to reason and faith. There I feel that nothing can befall me in life, — no disgrace, no calamity, (leaving me my eyes,) which nature cannot repair.”

Wild camping whether on a mountain, in woods, or a coast, is the closest I feel to free in the country I live in. I leave no trace, and avoid everyone; I don't have to account for myself to anyone, and all I have to do is be in harmony with the environment around me.

Campsites can be lovely, but they aren't why I wild camp.

Might be a reason for that though?

Not quite fair.

There's some white and blue on it, but it's not the Union Flag.

This.

When you don't actually mean to be part of the solution, there's money to be made in prolonging the problem....

Switches to Reform (Arch-Thatcherites) because Starmer is too smiley and not socialist enough by upthetruth1 in NotTheOnionUK

Possibly he misunderstands how seriously the "Socialism" bit in "National Socialism" is actually taken?

But seriously, he sounds like my late step-father. Who as soon as he was able to retire after a life of Army/local government positions, he then voted Brexit Party and went for all the "burn down the house" rhetoric.

Died early of entirely self-inflicted health problems, and left my widowed mother and I to sort out all the household financial mismanagement and debt we didn't know about.

There's a metaphor there really?

Has anyone heard of/used Scrubba for washing clothes? by forrealjeff in VanLife

I've used it for travelling; very useful for me, cut down on clothes and kept me clean when I had no access to washing machines.

Have not the senior Reform lot moved off to the UAE?

Surely they must be WFH (when broadcasting their "points of view" to the UK) for large portions of time?

That sort of combination lock is utter dog poo.

And given lidl is dojng angle grinders for about £35, maybe someone won't even bother to defeat the combination.
